Career Planning: Internship & Goal Setting

This workshop was very helpful to me.  The speaker spoke loudly and clearly.  Although the workshop lasted for about 2 hours, she made it very fun and informative.  She told us about the different interns that there were available and also the requirements needed to obtain an intern.  She recommeded that it was best for us to adapt to the way Baruch worked first before getting a part-time job.  School should definitely be a first priority because internships look for people that have a high GPA.  She also recommended that we should join at least one club and be active in it.  Internships would be impressed if you had a high position in the clubs like president, vice president, or treasurer.

She also provided us with a few websites that would be helpful for us in finding an internship.  I learned that there’s actually a class that we can take to earn credits for working at an internship.  The speaker also taught us how to write resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters.  She gave us a booklet called “Undergraduate Internship Manual”, which provides a lot of valuable information.  The workshop definitely benefited me in many ways and I think everyone should attend to this workshop for their own benefit.
