Stress & Anxiety Reduction

NVC 3-185 1pm – 2pm

The goal of the workshop was to help students who are stressed out, relax. The leaders of the workshop first explained to us how to stay as stress free as possible. They talked to us about being mindful. Being aware if whats happening around you helps in the process of decreasing the amount of stress. You have to be mindful about your surroundings and experience it with your five senses. Throughout the workshop, we did many activities. At the beginning of the workshop, a bag of raisins were passed around and we were told to hold one on the middle of our palms. We were to feel the weight of it upon our palms and feel the texture of the raisin before tasting it. Before that activity though, we were to meditate so that we would be more relaxed and more sensitive to what we’re feeling. Another activity we did near the end of the workshop was learning to relax our muscles. It was quite useful.

The workshop was useful and I would reccommend those who are under a lot of stress to go to one of these workshops. They may be able to to find it helpful. The workshop was fine except for one thing. There was a bunch of guys sitting directly behind us who wouldn’t stop talking even when told to be quiet several times. They were eating and whispering loudly throughout the whole workshop. It is rude to the leaders of the workshop, whom were trying to create a peaceful atmosphere for the audience and distracting to those who were trying to participate. Other than this, the workshop was worth going to.
