This workshop was about how to help students release stress when facing an overload of school work. The men in charge of this workshop first started it off by handing each and every one of us a raisin. There, they told us to put it on our palm while feeling the weight of it. Afterward, we were supposed to feel the texture before popping it inside our mouth. We also did several other activities that would help us release stress and relax. Another activity that we did was to use our five senses, as being aware of our surroundings helps us reduce stress. Examples can be being aware of 5 things for each of our five senses. Another activity that we did was relaxing our body muscles. We first started with our toes and gradually moved up to our neck and then face.
Overall the workshop was really helpful, even though there were these guys behind us that wouldn’t stop talking throughout the whole session. It was somewhat hard to concentrate as the whole point of this workshop was to form a peaceful environment and meditate. Nevertheless, adjusting to college life can be pretty tough, so by using these methods, hopefully I will feel less stressful throughout my life here at Baruch.
