The Adventures of the Freshmen Reception & Club Fair

The first event I went to was the freshmen reception which is meant to enrich my academic life. Went I first got there, all I saw was a big crowd of freshmen waiting outside of the Academic Advisement Office. I didn’t know what they were waiting for and so I wasn’t sure on what to do until I saw my friend who explained to me that I had to wait to get in to get into groups to have a discussion. However, the event turned out to be too successful and there were too many students attending and so I never got to participate in a discussion and instead just got my workshop sheet signed at the entrance of the room. I went in to check if that was all I had to do and I even asked a few staff persons and they confirmed it. I’ve already been to the Advisement Office a few times and thus I wasn’t expecting to be learning anything much new.

The next event I attended was the club fair meant for student life. When I first got downstairs towards the gym room, there was a huge line waiting to get in. For some strange reason the students had to swipe in with their ID cards and it wasn’t for recording purposes as I was told. Once I finally got into the gym room, it was overcrowded with students and I had to maneuver around just in order to be able to see all of the clubs. It was an interesting event as they clubs were trying to bribe possible members to join the club with junk food such as candy and cupcakes. I went around the whole gym room looking at the clubs and there were many strange ones I never thought of before. There was one club who were giving out free drinks and I had to scream out “I love sweet tea” just in order to obtain one. In the end I only signed up for the handball maniacs club and I forgot to do the same for archery.
