On Tuesday I went to the UNICEF bake sale, and I was pretty excited about it, because I wanted to see how bake sales operate at Baruch. Unfortunately I didn’t get to spend as much time there as I would have liked; I simply dropped off my contribution of plates and napkins, and left. I liked the sign that one of the students in the other LC made–the one with the giant cupcake–I thought it was pretty cool that people would go all out just for a bake sale. The cupcakes and cakes looked really good, but I was surprised at how much we were selling them for. At $1.75 per cupcake, I would be shocked if even a couple people would buy from us. I was actually considering buying one until I saw the price tag–but I understand that it’s difficult to raise money, especially for a cause like this, so it’s typical that people would hike the prices. But in my opinion, roughly two bucks for a cupcake is too much.
I heard that there were leftovers sold for really cheap, like 10 cents for a cupcake or something like that, and I guess I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t there to get get some of the leftovers. In the end, I received this rather large bag which contained more plates and napkins that I had originally brought, so it’s funny that I profited from that.
I hope the bake sale was successful and raised a decent amount of money for UNICEF 🙂
Actually, the cupcakes were $1.50, and towards the end, they were $.25 🙂
