“Who do you think you are”. This question comes up so often but when it is actually time to answer it, the paper is blank. I am a person with many wonderful qualities as well as some not so wonderful qualities. I come from a Russian Jewish pretty large family. We are all spread out all over the world so we always have somewhere to travel. My family and I came to the United States when I was four years old and they tried to make a living and survive in a country they are not familiar with. I went to a Yeshiva Junior High school from grades three-eight. I think that because things were so new to my family, they decided to send me to a school where they felt comfortable and a bit at home. I did not think of this at the time, but I realize now that everything that I learned in that school did shape me into the person I am today. At this point in my life, I do not think I fully know who I am because people do change whether it’s for the better or for the worse. College is the time where you figure out who you truly are and what you would like to accomplish by being there. When I came to Baruch, I felt a bit scared because I thought that in this big school, I wouldn’t find anyone to be friends with. To some, that may not be that important because we are all here for one thing and that is to educate ourselves and obtain a great career after that. I am an extremely social person, so I need that constant interaction with people. Little did I know, I already met some fantastic people that I can really see myself being friends with for a very long time. Only time will tell how my Baruch experience will be different from my high school one because i’ve only been a college student for three weeks, but hopefully it will only get better. My first year of college might not change me fully, but I know that after I graduate, I will become a totally new person and know for sure who I truly am.
