Class Scheduling

Through the workshop, I learned clearly about which classes to register for. Before the workshop, I was confused and had no clue for which classes to take. The speaker helped me get on the right track by providing information on the required courses for my intended major. I also thought it was a very interactive environment, where the speaker addressed individual questions and problems instead of making it a lecture-like “speech”. In conclusion, it was a very helpful workshop and I hope there are more workshops in the future, designed to provide necessary information for clueless students.

Class Registration workshop

In this workshop I learned a lot more about Baruch’s policy for class registration,
and I think it definitely helps me to decide what courses to take for the
following semester. I also learned about the three-time policy, the difference
between a W grade and a WU grade, and the difference among BBA, BA, and BS
degree. Furthermore, I think the advisor is very funny and nice throughout the
whole time. I hope she is my academic advisor!! Overall, I think this workshop is very helpful.

Choosing schedule for next semester

This thursday I went to a workshop, which was about teaching freshmen how to pick their courses properly for next semester. I noticed that choosing a course in college shouldn’t just pick from your interest view, but also have to recognize its use. I mean, every course you choose should tie with what major you want to put yourself in future, so you won’t be worrying about insufficiency of credit for graduation. Also, I learned that freshmen are competing with each other over space of class. At last, most of high-level courses have its own prerequisite, as a result, I really think we should be prudent at what course we pick for spring semester schedule.

finding passion of your major/minor

We didn’t go to last mandatory workshop, but we went to another workshop instead. It’s called “finding passion of my major/minor”. It’s about how to find your major if your major is undecided. I like this workshop, although I fell asleep on the workshop, because it helps me to find my major. Also, the advisor gave us a test to determine that which majors you may interested during the workshop. In the end of the workshop, the advisor gave us another test, but it’s an online test; the point for do the online test is the same as we did during the workshop. I like this workshop, because it’s useful.

workshop

We went to workshop on Monday, it’s about how to register the courses next semester, and what courses should we take. I think this workshop helps me a lot, because I got much information for what courses I should take next semester. Also I learned many things from this workshop. I know that we need 12 elective credits if we are major in BBA; and we need to take both Micro and Macro if we are majoring in Accounting. It’s a helpful workshop.

A very helpful experience

This Monday we went to the mandatory workshop for Freshman registration.  Fortunately I went to the workshop one day ahead before I have to register for my class.  The workshop was very helpful on suggesting me which classes I should take as priorities and which ones I may counsider taking them a little later.  The workshop provided useful infomations such as I know as a BA I should take two semesters of language.  Thanks to the workshop, I went to the math department to get my permission for registration before my registration date! XD.  The registration went on so successfully yesterday due to the workshop.  After all, I think the workshop was great and hope to have more workshops like that in the future! 🙂

What classes to choose next semester???

Some people are signing up for their spring classes tomorrow, and everyone else needs to sign up by the end of this month and it is a very stressful procedure. The main reason I was worried about this was because I had no clue to which classes to chose. However, after listening to the advisor today I had a better idea of choosing my classes. I thought it was a really helpful workshop to attend to.

Monologue

Most influential person in my life was my dad. My dad is someone who doesn’t express his thoughts and feelings to other people even to his family. So I never quite knew what he was thinking. It has been 8 years since me and my dad lived together in U.S. Compare to life in Korea where my mom was always on my back for everything, life with my dad was just more relaxing and free. Even though I was young, my dad never really said anything about what I did. I was basically free to do anything I desired. I thought I was happy not being bother by my parents but I envy those parents who had rules for their children to follow, it looked like an act of care from the parents. I wondered why my dad never intervenes with my life. Craving for his attention, more and more I acted out, not come home without telling and hanging out with people who had bad influences. One day I got tired of acting out, so I simply asked my dad why he never intervene. What he said that day had a great impact on me, he told me that he trusts me to do the right thing and act right. I realized that unlike other parents, my dad had full trust in me. From that day on, I acted right because I didn’t want to betray his trust. His trust, had great influence on my life.

Ultimate money skill

Last Thursday, I went to work shop. I start to realize the importance of managing money. Before, I think being a college student doesn’t have to worry about that until a data comes to my mind. The average credit card debt for a graduated college student is $41000 and often with 16% of high interest rate. I was shock when I first heard from the speaker. From now, I have to be aware of getting a credit card, because I don’t want to be a member of them. Maybe I should start to take advise from speaker, which is using money wisely before getting a stable job.
