The seminar was interesting and taught me a lot. Points they brought up were communication skills and appearance. I agree with this because the way you introduce and present yourself is important. First impression is a big factor in getting hired for a company and you want to impress the interviewer. You need to have confidence and present yourself in a formal and professional manner that would make you look responsible and fit for the job. The advice and information that were presented in the seminar were overall useful and noteworthy.
Making the Transition from Student to Professional – Serena K.
Today, we had a workshop. I guess it was very informative and helpful. Though I already knew all that information. That wasn’t very helpful. The most interesting part would be when someone asked a question and it was answered to a very full degree. That and the free highlighter/pen/hand sanitizer.
I really don’t have much to say, but if I didn’t already know all of the information, I would have thought it was extremely helpful. and interesting.
Making the Transition from Student to Professional Workshop
This workshop focused on the criteria a student must have in order to be taken seriously in a business setting. The speakers were very informative and provided a plethora of helpful information. They also put a lot of effort into making the workshop fun and keeping everyone awake…which worked for the most part. I learned a lot about growing as a person and I look forward to applying advice from the workshop once I graduate college and begin looking for a job.
Baruch Voices IV
Rather reluctantly, I attended Voices IV with my fellow classmates. Luckily, it was not as boring as I had expected it to be and I actually enjoyed several of the monologues. While some of the performances were emotional and heartfelt, others were funny and humorous. Overall, all of the performances were decent and entertaining.
Baruch Voices – Review
The performances at Baruch Voices IV were very interesting. There was one performer that stood out the most, I forgot his name, (and not wanting to sound racist) but the black guy was the most enthusiastic performer of them all. It would’ve been better if the performance actually started earlier, considering a majority of us did not have lunch yet. That is all that I have to say about this.
Baruch Voices
Seeing what so many different people had to say was very interesting. From enduring family pressures to the lol 🙂 it was something well put together by the actors and the writes of course. Definitely something one could consider doing
Monologue
Books, music, movies, humor – we had everything in common. From the very first day of freshman year, we were inseparable. Throughout the years, we’ve only grown closer. We’ve changed a lot since that first day, but we changed together – developing our own personal interests, but yet staying inherently the same.
This past summer was the hardest summer of my life. Saying goodbye is never easy, but saying goodbye to your best friend is something beyond words almost. She left and I cried. I only remember the feeling of disbelief. I wouldn’t be able to see her for at least 10 years and I absolutely despised the institution that made her leave me, leave her home.
She left by choice, she wasn’t deported. She left because she had too much pride to be deported. Brought to this country at the age of 3, she grew up here. She is as American as any citizen, and yet she had no rights. She did not exist in this country and she couldn’t stand it. We waited for the Dream Act to pass, but when it didn’t, her decision was final. She wanted to live somewhere that she felt wanted, somewhere in which she wasn’t labeled an alien. I lost my best friend, my soulmate, my sister because of political quibbles over a reasonable act that should have been passed.
Voices IV
The Voices presentation was entertaining. The actors were really expressive and brought the monologues to life. I enjoyed the show very much and thought that the monologues were diverse and well written.
Monologue
What do I like about myself? I don’t know. I like the fact that I am hungry and I cannot think. I just want to eat right now. I hate how my stomach growls in the middle of a freaking quiet class…like what the hell. I hate it so much. It’s because I didn’t eat breakfast and I’m starving. Food makes me happy. I don’t care what I’m writing about because all it says is “food, food, food, hungry, hungry” on my paper. My stomach sounds like the grudge eating a baby or something. Freshman 15, come at me!
Baruch Voices
Baruch Voices was really fun. I enjoyed listening to everyone’s inner voices and personal stories. I especially enjoyed the funny “l-o-l smiley face” one. That captured everyone in the audience and it was sweet. Also, the one about the girl who was given a bone marrow by her best friend immediately touched everyone’s hearts. The performers were really good at portraying the person that they are speaking for. Overall, this was an amazing experience.
