Half of my first semester at Baruch has passed, and I’m glad to say I’m happy. Before school started I was very unsure on what to expect. I heard from a lot of older friends, including my brother that they didn’t like Baruch at all, and I thought it would probably be the same for me. The transition from high school to college was very smooth; in fact I’d say the only difference is that now I’m in New York City. Being stuck in Long Island all my life, I am finally away now that I’m here. From the outrageous people, to restaurants, to nightlife everything about the city is something to love, I even appreciate the homeless. Living in Great Neck, the possibility of coming across a Martian is much higher than of a hobo. So believe it or not I appreciate the smelly dude sitting on the sidewalk asking for my spare change. I am very satisfied academically as well. For some reason now that I am completely independent the workload seems a lot easier to complete. I may not completely apply myself during class but when it comes down to studying, I mean business. The results have been great too, I am very happy with my grades as of now.
My picture is a still shot from the show Breaking Bad. There is something about the show that pretty much makes me feel like im breaking bad. Every time i watch it i have this sense of motivation running through me, a thriving urge for success.
Nevin, I am glad that you are finding the transition relatively easy. Yes, New York is quite different from Long Island and there are some experiences that will make you appreciate the city and the inhabitors. Hopefully an opportunity will present itself that makes you see even more of the city (an internship). I am also happy you have formed your own opinions in lieu of the perspectives provided by others. Nice job!
