Baruchvoice_Yaohua_Huang

Baruch voice is a great program that lets Baruch Freshmen speak out their feeling of their first year at Baruch College. I found their experiences similar to mine. Most people wanted to be independent. They desired changes. However, at the same time, they refused to take actions to change their lives and themselves. A contradiction between desires and  refusal of actions made college freshmen feel perplexed. That’s what I have also experienced during the first semester of my college lives. On the other hand, I believe that no matter how students refuse to change, everyone will become more mature and able. College will force them to change. If anyone fail to change, his/her future will stop here, literally.

Rubin post-Yaohua Huang

Rubin Museum exhibits a glorious  and comprehensive collection of artworks from Himalayan  areas and surrounding regions. These artworks include painting, textiles, calligraphy and sculpture, which are mostly related to Buddhism. One section of the 2nd floor displays the figures of Buddha in the same way as those figures in Himalayan regions. These figures present a strong sense of serenity and solemnity. Honestly, these artworks, including those from Tibet, are unfamiliar to me. It was a great experience to understand different cultures, although I am not really interested in Buddhism.

Monologue_Yaohua_Huang

Long time ago, there was a boy.

He was a nobody.

He knew that he was mere a small dot in the movement of history,

and cannot move the world one inch if someone gave him a place to stand.

He didn’t want to become anybody.

And hence he had no models.

He only wanted to preserve his individuality, and enjoy this great insignificance

He was naughty and emulative,

and never doubted about his ability to surpass anyone if he desired.

Living without sorrow and anxiety,

Enjoying life was his first priority.

Provoking by an incidence,

He started to pursue success.

Devoting into studying, he reached his goal,

But found out that he was already distant from playmates, and the previous self

He quickly became familiar with this unfamiliarity.

and kept moving forward without thinking about his motivation.

Time passed and things had changed

He became a realistic dreamer,

Dreamt reality but not fantasy

Spoke actions but not words.

He became a challenger,

challenged nobody but only himself.

He advocated energy saving.

If things are not mandatory, then he preferred not to do it;

It things are mandatory, then he will do it in a simple way

And hence it is the end of my monologue.

*Obviously, that little boy is now speaking.

About Yaohua

Hi, everyone. My name is Yaohua Huang. I spent 13 years living in my hometown, Heshan, China, before migrating to the U.S.. I believe that I have dual personality. As you see in the second image, I am usually unconvinced and self-abased about my abilities. However, I can be overconfident at some cases. I am a creative person because I can think of new ideas to solve problems, as well as to play tricks on my friends. I enjoy thinking, studying and discoveries. Although I have friends, I like to stay alone. Staying alone provides a quiet environment for me to study and think. However, some times I may feel perplexed about what should I do when I am alone. Watching anime is one of my hobbies. There’s one my favorite anime, One Piece. It has enormous amount of fans around the world. I also love different fantasies and legends, especially the lost city of Atlantis, one of the mysterious area that was claimed to exist several thousand years ago. Plato, one of the greatest Greek philosopher, also believed that Atlantis  did really existed. Atlantis was said to be one of the most prosperous civilization which even mastered in nuclear power. I am fascinated that scientist can prove its existence in the future.
