To be honest, I was quite disappointed at this visit. Since this gallery is about Jazz music, I was expecting to see some Jazz instruments or some pictures of the big names in the Jazz history. Well, I did see some photos of people singing, but I don’t know who they are nor where they were. Some of the photos are very strong in expressing some sort of emotions, however, since I am not an expert in art, I hate to guess all the puzzle behind the photos. I might enjoy it if it was a regular art show, but I would expect more than just photos in a Jazz gallery.

I like this performance a lot. It really helps to understand other people’s life in Baruch, especially those “others” are your peers. It is very interesting to compare your own life with the others. Sometimes you might get shock, “How can something like this happen to him?”, sometimes you might get jealous, “Why is it him not me?” No matter what the situation is, it helps. For most of the case,  getting to know something about the others can help to understand yourself better. Well, at least I think I know much about myself now.

To be honest, I don’t like to go to museum at all, especially those extremely quiet ones. They always remind me of ghost houses. I wonder why people are so interested in dead people’s belongs. Would’t you feel guilty to bother those who have been in sleep for a long time? I believe dead people have soul. I believe when people die some of their spirit will stay with the stuff they use when they were alive. So every time I sees a antique I sense there is someone staring at me from where I could not see. That’s why I try to stay away from the old stuff that were once belong to those who are dead.

Hi, my name is Ziqing Yu.

The most important memory in past two years would be the time I spent with my cat, Baby.

When I was in high school, I was living in the countryside of MA. There were three cats and two dogs in the house. Two months after my settlement, another black kitten joined the big family. I initially named her Vocabulary, which infers to my ambition and enthusiasm towards SAT. However, she was so little that everybody just call her Baby. Baby was such a character. She could never sit down for even just a moment since she was a kitten. She is curious about everything. She discovers the world with great cautiousness; a little sound or movement could make her running away. But later she will slightly move herself to check on what scares her. She had big blue eyes which makes her seems to be so innocent. Every time she did something wrong, she would stare at me with her cute blue eyes which made me unwilling to punish her. When I am sad, I will always hold her in my arms, then energy was given to me through the temperature of her body.

As I mentioned, I got her as a kitten. We spent two years together. I fed her everyday; I washed her once every week; I got medicine for her when she got sick. It was not only about love, but also about responsibility. I raised her like a my own child and I was completely heartbroken when I have to leave her. But I will always remember her.

My name is Ziqing Yu. You can call me Ashley if you don’t know how to pronounce my legal name. I was born in China. Three years ago I moved to the United States for education. In the beginning it was a hard time for me but I am glad I here in Baruch today.

I do not have lots of interests. I spend most of my spare time on reading and watching movies. Two my favorite movies are Lord of The Rings and Hard Candy. Lord of The Rings came out when I was a little kid;  although I was attracted to the fancy scene and costume at first, I totally fell in love with those amazing characters as the age developed. Now I still believe it is one of the most amazing film in the human history. By the way, my favorite character in this movie is Aragorn. Another movie that I quite interested with is the Hard Candy. There is nothing fancy about this movie. I love it simply because of the female main character’s wonderful performance. I can not even describe her performance with my poor English. Anyway, you will understand what I am talking about when you watch the film.

I also love to listen to music. I am not limited to any special kind of songs or singers. I love Lily Allen, Lenka, Linkin Park, Hou Xian, and T-ara. These singers or bands are very different from each other, so I would not easily get bored by just listening to one kind of music.
