Who am I?! (Tina Bhatia)

This is my song playlist that represents who I am.

1) What’s My Age Again? by Blink 182; http://www.youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=/watch%3Fv%3DK7l5ZeVVoCA

I started off with this song because first off, Blink 182 is one my favorite bands. Secondly, because it represents my carefreeness and desire to live life to the fullest. Sometimes, I forget that I’m an adult and I need to start acting like one, but that’s okay I guess.

2) The Motto by Drake; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYDKK95cpfM

This has to be in my playlist because if you know me, then you’d know I ALWAYS say “yolo” even though it probably gets on a lot of peoples’ nerves. Still, I wholeheartedly believe in the message of this song. You only do live once and you never know when your life could be over (as grim as that sounds, it’s true). I’ve seen people so young lose their lives and it’s tragic, to say the least. So, I live by this motto and carpe diem, and anything else of that sort.

3) Ridin’ Solo by Jason Derulo; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ESdn0MuJWQ

This is on my playlist because I am (or want to be) independent. I don’t like depending on others and I like being fully capable of taking care of myself and fulfilling my own duties and priorities.

4) Beautiful Place by Good Charlotte; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H3eoFOi7AE

Again, this is one of my favorite bands. I’ve loved them since 2006. This song makes me feel kind of nostalgic about the past but in a good way. It reminds me to appreciate my life and the people in it.

5) Moving On by Good Charlotte; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuBvG8NDxPc

Another one from this band. I love this song because it radiates that message of “you only live once”. I like how it’s about moving on without regrets and not fearing the future. I live by this (or try to). This is an all around feel good song for me.

6) I’m Just a Kid by Simple Plan; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GOR5gvQwDI

Literally, this is one of the first bands I’ve ever loved. There was a time where I knew every song of theirs by heart and I’d owned every CD they had ever come out with. I also remember buying a CD player just to play their CDS way back when. Anyway, I love the message of this song, that we’re all still young and we’re (obviously as the title suggests) still kids, and that we need to live accordingly. It’s been a very relatable song for me since I’ve been in elementary school.

7) Mirror by Lil Wayne; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZLUa8JUR18

This is a very self-reflective song for me and I like that it makes me think about who I am and who I want to be.

8) Bangarang by Skrillex; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR2XilcGYOo

I added this to my playlist because it is one of my most played. Hardly any words in it, I just love listening to the beat when I’m on the go.

9) Fly by Nicki Minaj ft Rihanna

First off, I LOVE Nicki. And I like the message of the song, conquering your insecurities, reaching for success and all (corny as it sounds).

10) All You by The Cataracs; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BN5dQvYGBdE

Don’t know why this is last, but this is one my favorite songs, not really for its meaning, but for how it sounds. After just a week, it was on my 25 Most Played on my iTunes. Not really sure what it means, aside from letting loose and having fun? I don’t know, I’m just obsessed with it.

  1. Most of the songs you have on here I’ve heard them before. I can see why you chose them. From you’re playlist I can tell that you’re responsible, outgoing, independent, and adventurous. Overall great choice of songs and good job with the explanations. -Alex Wieckowski

  2. Tina, I agree with Alex; Great song choices and wonderful explanations.

It is nice to have a song that encourages you to engage in self-reflection, such as “Mirror” by Lil Wayne. It would be interesting to see how your reflections change, as you continue to transition into a college student.

With regards to your explanation for “Bangarang” by Skrillex, I sometimes like to listen to a beat, even without words, as well. I actually feel like this inspires my self-reflection.

Thanks for sharing your these songs on your blog. I look forward to your future blog posts!
