Sean Seepersaud-Who am I?

All the songs below are on youtube for you guys to check out if you’d like

1. Dj Khaled-All I do is win

“All I do is win, win, win, no matter what…” Whenever I hear this song, a sense of motivation and confidence comes to my mind. It reminds me that confidence is the key to success, and having the right mindset in any type of situation gives you a huge mental advantage when faced with a conflict.

2. Carley Rae Jepsen-Call me maybe

“Hey I just met you, and this is crazy…but here’s my number, so call me maybe?” It’s spontaneous, and adventurous. I love meeting new people, talking to different people, and starting new friendships. Many people are quick to judge and don’t allow themselves to branch out to new people. A simple line such as the one above can start a whole new friendship. Although this song has become annoying, it will always be the number one singalong.

3.Fabolous ft. Jeremih-Its my time

“Go hard today, can’t worry about the past ’cause that was yesterday. Imma’ put it on the line ’cause its my time.” This song is one of my favorites. The opening line pretty much speaks for itself, don’t you think? The past is the past, shit happens, move on; whatever happened happened and it cannot be changed…so why worry about it? Worry about today, take risks and move forward.

4. Armin Van Buuren-J’ai envie de toi

With my headphones in, listening to this song beginning to end, I get completely lost in the music. I close my eyes and all I think about is the beat, how everything flows together perfectly and how enticing it is. This song reminds me of the power that music can have over a person if you completely give in to it.

5.Nervo-You’re gonna love again (Pixel Cheese)

We’re teenagers, we’re going to go through relationships and all that. This song is just a reminder to move on from what you’ve been through in the past, because someone else will come along and make you forget all of it…and the song itself is amazing along with the vocals.

6. Rick Ross-Stay schemin

This song reminds me of my senior year, one of the most amazing years of my life. Whenever I hear this I think of my closest friends, and all the memories I have had with them since elementary school. It also reminds me of how close I got with my grade in my last year of high school through parties, school events, and having class with them.

7. JayZ-Young forever

“Forever young, I wanna be forever young” In my opinion, this is one of the greatest songs JayZ has ever released. Yes, it is a couple years old but the meaning of the song will never get old. This song brings back many memories, again with my closest friends, from the summer of 10th grade. It brings me back to a time where I had little to no worries, responsibilities, or burdens. Don’t rush to grow up, because when you’re older you’re going to wish you were young again.

8. Bob Marley-Three little birds

“Don’t worry, about a thing…’cause every little thing, is gonna be alright” Do as much as you can to live a stress free life. Stop worrying about the things you can’t change, don’t dwell over the little things. When life is moving too fast and I get stressed and I hear this song, it reminds me to chill out and take things one at a time….cause every little thing is gonna be alright.

9. Kevin Lyttle-Turn me on

I’m not sure if its the reggae, or the beat, or the singing, or Kevin Lyttle’s accent…but this is an instant good mood song, no matter how upset I was before I hear it.

10. Dada Life-Kick out the epic motherfuck_R

If you don’t leave your comfort zone, life is always gonna be boring, nothing will ever change. This song represents the crazy side of me, the risky side. Don’t be afraid to try something new or get a little weird once in a while, you might discover another part of yourself that you actually like.

My name is Christine and I have an older sister and brother and wonderful parents whom I love. My church is like my second home, and the people there are my second family, I love and care for each and every one of them. One of my favorite qualities about my friends is that we can be completely comfortable with each other. We’re not embarrassed in front of each other but instead we embrace each other’s quirks and flaws. And although I love my weekends and vacations, I still get a thrill from going into class and learning about interesting things. If I’m sad and someone hands me a plate of food, my worries go away. I feel as if when I eat, it’s just me and the food I’m about to devour. I cannot pass up an opportunity to shop, that’s it. The feeling I get from being in a new country gives me a nervous but exciting feeling that is addicting. I love TV shows: Lost, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Suits, The Newsroom, etc. Whenever I’m on my laptop, I’m most likely watching one of my shows. I think these pictures describe a lot about who I am. I’m the type of person who has pride and boasts about her family. I’m the type of person who finds joy in serving at church. I’m the type of person who loves to be silly with her friends. I’m the type of person that who hopes to graduate once or twice more. I’m the type of person who will get happy at the sight of food (The picture taken was at BJ’s and my friend captioned it as “Christine in her natural habitat.”). I’m the type of person who has a passion for shopping (despite my face expression in the picture.) I’m the type of person who one day hopes to travel all over the world. I’m the type of person who obsesses over TV shows. This is who I am.

Who Am I? By Michael Sheridan

Hello Everyone

Here is the Link for the Slide Show I made since I can’t upload it. (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9L1gYIpvX4JS1pRN1JyZk9PMXc/edit)

1) The first picture is a picture of my two brothers and I. My brothers have played a big role in my life so far, they have always been there for me and have helped make me into the person I am today. We are all around the same age so growing up we always did the same things such as play sports and look out for each other. Family is something that is very important to me and having to brothers although not always the funnest experience is one that I’m grateful to have.

2)  The second picture is a picture of me and my best friend. We have known each other since we were in the 3rd grade and although he gets on my nerves he is like a brother to me. We’ve gotten to experience grammar school, high school, and even prom together; which are all memories that we can add to our friendship.

3) This is a picture before prom. I was lucky, because I got to go to prom with some of my closest friends and got to bring one of my best friends as my date.  Prom was a night that I will never forget because of all the things that happened and of course because I got to wear a tuxedo.

4/5) Pictures 4 and 5 are in the same category. These are pictures of my friends and I from the summer. Friends play an important role in my life and those that I am very close to I consider to be family. This past summer I have made many memories that I won’t soon forget and I can thank my friends for that.

6) This sixth picture is of my favorite Basketball team. The Lakers! I love playing basketball and have played for most of my life. It’s something I enjoy to do on my free time. The Lakers are my favorite team, and Kobe is my favorite player.

7) This picture is of Food. Something that I know everyone loves. My favorite foods as you can see is Pizza and tacos. I love food in general but if I had to narrow it down to two foods those would be it. I love trying knew foods and I hope to learn how to cook one day or at least get lucky and have a wife that’s an amazing cook and that can teach me how to.

8) This last picture is one that means the world to me. This is one of my closest friends. She is someone that is always there for me and gave some of the best advice. She is someone I know that I can always go to for advice. She has changed me and the way I look at things  and I know that no matter what happens she will always have my back.

Who Am I? Irving Shabot

Here’s a list of 10 songs that, together and separately, represent who I am and what I am interested in –

  1. Hey Mama – Kanye West – We’ll start off with a song that portrays two of my favorite things: Rap, and my mom. Just like Kanye West, I recognize all that my mother has done for me. He’s just able to display it more creatively than I.
  2. Sixteen – Rick Ross and Andre 3000 – Another rap song, Sixteen focuses on how the average 16 bar verse of everyday rap songs is never enough to fully express how some one really feels. Just like how a 10-song playlist constricts me, trying to convey my interests to the class.
  3. Houdini – Foster The People – I felt it was appropriate to add this song to the playlist as it was my most played song from last year. Whenever I went snowboarding, I would shuffle through my playlists just to make sure it came on before starting a run.
  4. REVOFEV – Kid Cudi – Now a completely different person, the old Kid Cudi was all about the younger generation doing nothing but partying and having fun. Obviously, it would be bad to take his advice to extremely, but I can’t remember a time where a Cudi song was playing and I wasn’t having a good time. This song just captures that message. REVOFEV = Revolution of Evolution.
  5. Do You Feel Like I Do? – Peter Frampton – I had to add this song. It’s by Peter Frampton – the first mainstream artist to use autotune. That’s right, before T-Pain. He would begin concerts as rock and roll shows and break out the autotune half way through. His use of it was incredible and unfortunately, has almost been forgotten. This song (the oldest in my playlist) of his uses autotune in a completely bizarre yet amazing way.
  6. The New Workout Plan – Kanye West – A song which mocks modern culture and people’s (specifically, women) obsession with appearance. A trend that I enjoy to mock, yet be guilty of.
  7. Exile Vilify – The National – An incredibly somber song that was introduced in a game that I use when trying to explain my obsession with video games – Portal 2.
  8. It Was a Good Day – Ice Cube – This song speaks for itself. It’s the song you want to listen to on a drive home after a long, fulfilling day. I’ve done this countless times.
  9. Clique – Kanye West, Jay Z, and Big Sean – A song that is manly just boasting about one’s own circle of friends. It emphasizes my love of my friends and how much more they mean to me than just a “clique”.
  10. King Without a Crown (Live at Stubbs version) – Matisyahu – Me, being Jewish, can’t not love this song alongside Matisyahu himself. A mix of upbeat reggae and rap, it emphasizes my importance of religion yet having fun too.

So lets get all the technical, fun things that I like. First of all if there is anything that you should know about me, its that I am an Apple Fanatic. Not to the point where I will buy every product (thats ridiculous, its expensive), but the way in how much I admire the company and their products. Its amazing how they come so far, and get into an argument with me about an android being better? Well, it will be a couple hours before I am done talking to you.

Next I put a picture up of something a little different. This is video editing, and I love it a lot. I’ve been video editing privately and have also made a few professional videos. I’ve been doing this for over 5 years and don’t plan to stop anytime soon. TurbanInc is some of the work I’ve done, youtube it sometime!

The basketball comes next, I’ve hopped from many sports, soccer, baseball, football, cricket, but the once I seem to like the most is basketball. I try to play everyday, well I used to back in CT, but now its a little harder in the city.

This is a Tabla Its actually a really unique instrument from India. It is very hard to play and I’ve been playing for 8 years now. You must have a lot of strength especially in your fore-arms and shoulders. The longest I ever played was for 3 hours at a religious event. It was quite tiring.

Now I mentioned TurbanInc above, this is a little about it. TurbanInc is a indian/sikh shirt company owned by my cousin and it has played a big role in my life. The company has gone far with orders coming from all over the world. I have to say the best part about selling the shirts, is when someone who isn’t Indian comes and buys a shirt. Its awesome to see how much a shirt can inform people.

The next picture is a morphed flag. The British flag and the American flag. I thought this was perfect, this explained much about me. I was born in England and had lived there for about 9 years. When I moved here it was a big change. But living in both countries has really shaped me to be who I am today. In England, Sikhs were everywhere, over here in America there aren’t many Sikhs, and through this change I’ve become a lot stronger and a much more proud about who I am.

The next picture is a Khanda. A Khanda is a symbol of the Sikh faith. I am a Sikh thats why I wear a Turban. Thats a small glimpse there is much to explain, you can always ask me if you are interested. I am open to questions.

Finally, I have posted a bunch of people holding hands, but I look at it as a family. Family is the most important thing in my life. I care a lot for my family as they do for me. I wouldn’t be at Baruch without them and I just wanted to thank them by including this. I am who I am because of my family, nothing else matters.

Who Am I (Tiffany Mazza)

1. http://tinypic.com/r/352iuth/6
This first picture is of my family- my parents, Lisa and Carmelo, my younger sister, Christina, and my little brother, William. I’m very close with my immediate family as well as the rest of my family. They are all very important to me and have helped me throughout my life whether it was my cousin teaching me how to drive in sophomore year of high school or my mom spending hours with me applying to college.
2. http://tinypic.com/r/24xkjo3/6
This is a picture of my graduating class at St. Joseph Hill Academy. As you can tell there weren’t a lot of us- only about 115- and yes, they’re all girls. I’ve always been in private Catholic schools and it not only provided me with a good education, but a very close knit atmosphere. I graduated in June this year being so close with all of them it’s like I have over 100 sisters.
3. http://tinypic.com/r/o5nez7/6
This is a picture of my closest friends. I’ve known all of them either since I was young or met them through school or my neighborhood. Even though I didn’t go to school with some of them, we have remained close throughout the years. As some moved to different states or went to different schools, I realized how important it is to keep in touch with them and how much of a part they play in my life.
4. http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/31400000/piano-piano-31479594-1280-853.jpg
I’ve been playing the piano since I was about 6 years old. I quit when I was 8 and picked it up again in the 8th grade and I’ve been playing non stop ever since. Although I did not grow up in a very musical family, when I was younger my mom, who has been playing since she was 5, played me a song on the piano and ever since then I’ve been playing. I still take lessons now and plan on continuing throughout college.
5. http://tinypic.com/r/2dhwgur/6
This is my dog, Waffles. He’s 8 years old and we’ve had him since he was 2 weeks old. He’s always running around or playing with his toys and can always make anyone laugh. Even though he is always barking and following me everywhere(he’s sitting on my lap as I write this) I love him and he’s the perfect dog.
6. http://tinypic.com/r/1h83ea/6
That’s a picture of my sister an I on the Swiss Alps in Switzerland. I’ve been traveling all over since I was young. Two years ago I visited Switzerland, Germany, and Italy with my grandparents and over the summer I visited Spain and Switzerland again. I love to travel and I plan on visiting every country in Europe.
7. http://www.page1book.com/images/bookstack.jpg
I love to read. I go to the library all the time and check out a few different books every time I go. I’m always reading whenever I get the chance to and because I spent a lot of time traveling over the summer, I was able to read a LOT of books, and I plan on reading as much as I can.
8. http://emilyadamsonfire.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/cheese-pizza.jpg
My favorite food is pizza. I never get sick of it- I could have it every day. I actually just had it for dinner tonight. I’ve had pizza from many different places and countries and so far my favorite pizza was from Rome, Italy.

Perfect Class: Irving Shabot

My perfect class could be on any subject. The factors that make it perfect and the subject it is on are not mutually exclusive. My perfect class would embrace technology fully and correctly. It would use the Cuny Blackboard system correctly and the professor would update it on time. Speaking of the professor, he or she would be helpful on an individual level, yet also on a class level. Also, the professor would have to be entertaining. If the professor chooses a lecture-style teaching format, at least keep it interesting. Cell phones and laptops would be allowed, because it is the choice of the student whether or not he or she wants to receive a decent education. The college already has the students money: If they want to waste it – so be it. Finally, homework would be neatly scheduled and not too difficult. I have no problem with homework when it is reasonable.

Who I am? – William Yu

  1. Yellow – Coldplay

This is one of my favorite songs in my iPod. Not to mention, it is also my favorite group. I listen to it when I’m bummed out or when I just need to relax and to listen to some music. The way I interpret this song is that “when the stars don’t shine for you”, you have to change things up and you have to do things differently. Another meaning can be that, you can turn anything ugly into something beautiful. To me, there are a million ways to interpret song and that’s why I love this song so much.

Chasing Cars – Snow Patrol

There are some songs that fade out over years but this is one of the songs that have stayed with me for a long time. To me, this song is telling me to chase your dreams and sometimes you need to block out the world. Once in a while, I feel like I need to get away from everything and just take a break. When this happens, I just want to travel with my family and no one else.

  1. Sunday Morning – Maroon5

Every once in a while, I would listen to this song on a Sunday morning (who knew?).  This song is calming, relaxing, and has a nice rhythm to it. After a long week of schoolwork, work, and practice, I just want to take a day to myself and it’s usually the last day of the week. I get to have a little moment to myself until I have to cram some homework in and some studying in.

  1. Remember the Name – Fort Minor

This song pumps blood through my whole body and gets my adrenaline going. Before a game or a practice, I listen to this song and it pushes me to work harder when I’m exhausted and gasping for air. When I’m exhausted, I think about the other 9 guys on the court also working hard. To be great, you have to practice and to push yourself over the limit. Whenever I step on the court, my mindset is to pedal to the metal.

  1. Waking Dreams – Two-Thirds

I usually don’t listen to House Music but I guess this song is an exception. I don’t know how this would describe who I am but I guess this is my wild side when it comes to music. All I know is that this song is awesome and pumps me up.

  1. The Graduation- The Graduation

This song has probably been heard by everyone that has graduated high school in the U.S. Whenever this song plays on my iTunes, when it is on shuffle, I get nostalgic and I think about junior high school and the memories that were made. It also makes wish I was young because all I remember from junior high school was playing sports all day and not worrying about anything else.

  1. Paradise – Coldplay

I like this song but it’s the music video that’s what makes me love the song even more. This song reminds me of the summer and tells me to enjoy everything in life, no matter where you are and the situation you’re in.

  1. Come Fly with Me & Fly Me to the Moon – Frank Sinatra

I remember listening to these songs when I was little and they have stayed with me most of my life. I remember my friend asking “Who is Frank Sinatra?” and I flipped out on him. These songs inspire to go far in life and to chase your dreams. It also tells me to not to forget the people who have been there for you and made a difference in your life.

  1. Thunder – Boys Like Girls

Most of the songs I have chosen inspire me to be better and relaxes me. I guess this is another song that fit those categories.

  1. Christmas Songs

I love Christmas songs and Christmas commercials. When I watch the first Christmas commercial or listen to the first Christmas song of the year, I get really excited because Christmas is around the corner. I also know that I will have my Christmas break soon. I get to eat, relax, and play video games all day. But I also get to spend time with my sister (returning from college) and my parents.

Who Am I- Justin Musumarra

The basketball and the football represent me as an athlete. These two sports help keep me focused not only in improving as an athlete, but helps to keep me focused on my studies as well. Knowing that I can’t play either sport if I don’t stay on top of my school work is a motivational factor to keep me going. The hands represent myself as a helping hand to others. Whenever someone needs help with something I’m always willing to help. I always put others ahead of myself and I think the hands are a very good representation of that. The hard work sign intertwines with the first three images. The hard work sign is a representation of how dedicated I am to my school work, athletic work, and to my classmates. The sign is a representation of how hard I strive to make myself better everyday. The venn diagram is a very good description of how I strive to work hard in all areas to not only help myself, but help others as well. At home, at school, and in my community, I like to do things to improve the lives of others. The word family means a lot to me. Family means a lot to Italian’s and the word shows how family plays a huge role in my life and how important my family is to me and my success. My family has played a huge role in shaping me into the person that I am today and I really appreciate that. The books represent how hard I work in school to better my education. Like I mentioned before I like to help others so the books also represent how I can assist my classmates with their work if they ever need help. The word friend represents what I can be to my classmates. I can be a helping hand, someone to hang out with, or someone to help keep my classmates motivated when they are thinking about quitting. These images are a brief representation of who I am and who I can be to my classmates. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better and working with everyone throughout the year.

Who is Howard Tseng?

http://www.mixpod.com/playlist/89480638

I chose to create a playlist because music plays a HUGE role in my life. I can’t recall the last time a day went by with the absence of good music. Whether it’s coming from my earphones, car stereo, or speakers, music has not only helped me through emotional distress but also created in me an escapement of reality.

1. Dash Berlin vs. Coldplay – Ticking Clocks (Dash Berlin’s Essential ‘Warmplay’ Rework)

“Come out upon my seas,
cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease?”

This song combines the vocals of one of my favorite bands, Coldplay, with one of my favorite musical genres, trance. Best of both worlds. This song has been on repeat on my iTunes for the past couple of days, so it was a no-brainer for me to add it to the list. From my interpretation of the lyrics, Coldplay sings of missed opportunities and the regret that comes with it. This song speaks to who I am because I try to grasp  hold of  any opportunity  that comes my way.

2. Knife Party – Bonfire

“Dundun dun ido dooh dun ztsch wob wob wob sdalkdlsjh
… B-B-B-B-BONFIRE!!”

This song was shown in one of the scene’s of AMC’s television program, Breaking Bad, which was a main source of procrastination for me last year. It appears in the scene when the main character gets a new car symbolizing his role change in the story. (You can see the scene here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t808e5BMyI8) The song falls under a sub-genre of electronic music, dubstep, which has appealed to me through its uniqueness the first I heard it.

3. Adrian Lux – Teenage Crime

“We don’t sleep when the sun goes down, we don’t waste no precious time
All my friends in the loop
Making up for teenage crime”

This song speaks to the owl in me. I am more of a nocturnal person, preferring the night over day. I don’t know whether if it’s the less busy, peaceful vibes or the more comfortable weather (in my opinion)  that comes with it, I have and always will enjoy moonlight over sunlight. In a sense, it also speaks to the more rebellious nature shrouded in me.

4. Bob Marley – Three Little Birds

“Don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright!”

This particular song has helped me gone through a few emotional times in my life including a period of  time after my aunt, who played a great role in my childhood, passed away last year. It gave me motivation to keep my chin up and to not dwell in the past but look towards the future.

5. Ellie Goulding – Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

“And I’m not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I’m not keeping now the strength I need to push me”

In an interview with Ellie Goulding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNYlue-JyHw), she explains that this song talks about her fear of darkness as a child. I, as a kid, was also afraid of the dark, especially when I was trying to sleep. I never slept without a light on in the room; although as I grew older the amount of light the object was emitting grew less and less (I still use a nightlight to this day). The main reason for my fear of darkness was in part due to my horrible, horrible eyesight. The feeling of complete and utter darkness makes me feel insecure and unsafe, the same feeling I get when I don’t have glasses on. This is a remix by a dubstep artist, Bassnectar, which is ten times better than the original in my opinion.

6.  Kaskade & Adam K – Raining

“I’m in the car speeding from the past
But it’s raining on my windshield tonight”

This was one of the earliest songs that I heard that got me into my favorite DJ and musical producer, Kaskade. There were numerous occasions during a lazy, rainy day while I was lounging on my bed with my laptop, iTunes on shuffle, that this song came up. It always gave me a sense of relief and helped calm me down.

7. Kanye West – Mercy (RL Grime & Salva Remix)

“I could let these dream killers kill my self-esteem or use my arrogance as a steam to power my dreams” – Kanye West

I love Kanye and have ever since I heard his songs back in elementary school. Hip-hop is a genre that has always been with me through my life. This is a sick remix that I like to bump to.

8. Frank Sinatra – New York, New York

“I want to wake up in that city
That doesn’t sleep
And find I’m king of the hill
Top of the heap”

This song shows the gratefulness and love I have for being able to be part of this great city. New York has opened a road of opportunities and experiences that otherwise would not have been opened to me elsewhere. It has created in me dreams that I aspire to succeed and gave me motivation to reach the top. New York City is, and always will be, home.

9. Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness

“I’m on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that’s shining ain’t always gonna be gold
I’ll be fine once I get it
I’ll be good”

My summer 2010 anthem. This song reminded me to always be chasing happiness, whether or not it involves money. Sometimes true happiness can only be found in friends and family. The lyrics to the song characterized Kid Cudi and was a main reason that he has been one of my favorite hip-hop artists in recent years.

10. Mat Zo – The Sky

One of those songs that I never get sick of. Mat Zo was able to infuse elements of progressive house and trance into one amazing track with the beautiful vocals of Linnea Schossow. I would always play this song on the drive back home after a long, tiring day of dancing from a musical event/festival and it would always be the perfect end to the night.

Although it took me a considerable amount of time to complete, this assignment was really enjoyable. Not many times will there be a school assignment that I actually enjoy doing, and this is one of them. It made me think about the kind of person I am and helped me relate myself to others through the universal language of music.
