Monologue (Christine Shin)

I wish I could fly, that would truly be amazing. I wouldn’t have to drag my tired legs for blocks, I wouldn’t have to wait for buses in the brisk cold weather, I wouldn’t have to be in a crowded group standing in the nasty subway. I could just fly anywhere I want. I guess the only negative part of flying are the bugs. Flies would probably fly into my mouth, they’d probably be all in my hair too. Oh and my hair would be a huge mess, like a bird nest. But if I were allowed any super power it would definitely be to fly. Or maybe be invisible. I could be in places where I’m not allowed, like the set of a movie, the backstage of a sold out concert, or even the dressing room of a celebrity without anyone’s knowledge. That wouldn’t be too bad either. Come to think of it, what super power wouldn’t be great… Actually I don’t think I would want to read minds. It could be both a gift and a curse. It’s cool knowing what everyone’s thinking, like who they like, they’re embarrassing secrets, and what’s on their mind. But it’s scary knowing exactly what people are feeling and their opinion on certain things. Secondly, I don’t know how I would feel with that much power. And lastly, this is just me, I adamantly believe ignorance is bliss. Anyways I wish I could fly.

  1. From time to time I would too think about having a super power. It would definitely make life more enjoyable. Referring back to the part where you said reading minds is fun and all but there is a con. I agree with you on that because every ying has a yang to it haha….
