Dear Professor,
I want to make you aware of my absences from your Monday and Wednesday classes last week. I have been extremely sick, which has made me incapable of going to any of my classes last week. I am aware that I missed my midterm on Wednesday and I hope I am able to make it up. I will be in next week and I am free to discuss this issue with you.
Thank you for your understanding,

My Career Goals (David Aptekar)
What do I want to do when i grow up? Make bank obviously, who doesn’t? But my plan to accomplish that is bu going into advertising. At first I was planning to enter creative advertising but people are telling me I should work with people thus I am considering working as the person at advertising agencies that gathers clients for the company, I forgot the name of that position. I know this will bring me money but I don’t know if I will enjoy my job so I plan to intern first at an advertising agency obviously and see if that suits me. Hopefully it does because I enjoy advertising, it is something I understand because I understand the psychology behind it.

Dear Professor Awesome,
Hope you and your loved ones are safe following Hurricane Sandy’s destruction. I am writing to you today due to my inability to attend class for 11/13/12 due to continued suspension of public transportation in my area as well as the ongoing gas shortage. I have internet access thus I will be providing you with the homework due for that day. I will be expecting to return to class by 11/15/12. Thank you.
Sincerely,
David Aptekar

Dear Professor Gluck,
I can not attend class today (11/11/12) as a result of the hurricane. I am currently residing in NJ, and the train from NJ to NY are shut down. I called a car service, only to discover that they are out of gas. By the time I found a service that had gas, class would have been over at the time of my arrival. I apologize and hope this will not happen in the future.
Thank you,

Professor Gluck,
I am emailing you to inform you that I will not be able to attend class today (11/12/12). I have been unable to make it to New York from New Jersey due to NJTransit lines being out of service. My last option is now to take a bus that doesn’t arrive to New York until after class ends. My apologies and this will hopefully not happen again.
Thank you,

Dear Professor Riech,
I wanted to inform you that I will not be attending class this Sunday. It is extremely difficult for me to come in to school since I have a job that I can’t miss. I don’t think it is fair to have class this Sunday, no other teacher is teaching us. Please consider that most of the class will not be there this Sunday and I would appreciate it if you don’t teach that much.
Thank you,
Michael Jemal

Professor,
Please excuse my absence yesterday, November 11th. My house was completely demolished by Hurricane Sandy and our family is making the way through recovery. I am floating in my living room, as I email you, on the broken door of my bedroom. During this tragedy, I have also lost my younger brother and my pet cat Mr. White to the strangling arms of the waters. I understand that I have missed the exam but I hope that we can work something out once I put the pieces of what’s left of my life back together.
Thank you,
Howard, hurricane survivor
