Hi Professor, unfortunately I just saw that my grade in class was a B- I was wondering why. I have done all my readings, homework, and participated in class. I also have handed in the essays that you have assigned in class on time. I haven’t gotten lower than an A- on an essay. I was just concerned about this. Dear Professor Hinds,

I was unable to attend class today Tuesday November 6th due to a sudden illness. I went to the doctor and he diagnosed it as a severe case of the flu and advised bed rest. I will however be able to attend class this Thursday the 8th and hope to make up the midterm. I will bring the doctor’s note as well as any other pieces of documentation you might need. I appreciate your understanding.
