Last 2 Blogs ( Alex Wieckowski )

Blog 1: This picture accuracy describes my first three months here at Baruch. College is a lot of fun but it is also a ton of work. I often found myself on my Mac laptop doing homework at home and at school. There were even some nights that I stayed up pulling an all-nighter. This can be tiring and exhausting but I want to have a good GPA.  However since the first few months I have learned how to manage my time better and now find myself staying up less and less.

Blog 2: My favorite enrichment workshop was the Rubin Museum. Even though we were only at the museum for a short hour I learned a lot of new things. The museum revolved around Himalayan art and Buddhists sculptures. We had a guide that gave us a tour of the museum and informed us on the main exhibits. In the beginning I thought the trip would be boring and a waste of time but it was actually interesting and educational.  After freshmen seminar ends I’m considering going back to the Rubin Museum to get the full experience and learn more about sculptures and art.

Registration Day (Alex Wieckowski)

As a freshman, I found our meeting last Tuesday to be very important because it answered a lot of questions that I had. I wasn’t sure which classes I was required to take and which classes I should take for my major. It helped me out and know I feel less stressed. As a freshman I know we pick last and that the classes with good Professors will most likely be taken so my hopes aren’t too high for next semester. However I will try to make a schedule with Fridays off because three day weekends are relaxing. Good luck with your classes everyone.

Time Management (Alex Wieckowski)

I think time management is a skill everyone should use but these days it is so easy to get distracted. I usually end up doing homework or studying the very last minute. It easy to get off course when you have televisions, computers, smartphones, and video games all around you. Doing the chart/graph in freshman seminar made me realize how much time I waste with electronic devices. I will attempt to plan ahead and not procrastinate.

Monologue (Alex Wieckowski)

Every now and then while walking to the train I see a homeless person. When taking the train to school I see another homeless person. When I get out of the subway and go to get a newspaper, I see another homeless person. Often times in life, people complain about the little things such as not getting the newest iphone or  laptop. However we fail to realize just how lucky we are to have basic necessities such as a house with food and clean water. As a young kid, when I first saw a homeless person I wondered where do they go? The truth was that they didn’t have anywhere to go. They just sit there and watch. They watch as everyone else goes home while they wonder around in the streets. Here we live in the one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world but yet it sometimes seems like people live in a third-world country. Every time I see a homeless person I count my blessings and I’m thankful for what I have.

Article Response (Alex Wieckowski)

While I was reading this article I found it a bit repetitive. School’s always have the same policy, cheating is looked down upon and students that get caught cheating will face severe consequences such as failing or expulsion. However it seems that some students don’t seem to care. In one of my first weeks here at Baruch, the professor said that he already caught one student plagiarizing and that he will be punished for his actions. I think as technology gets more advanced (smart phones, iphones, laptops) cheaters will find new ways to cheat. It is a constant game of cat and mouse. However I do believe cheating will not get you far in life and it is extremely risky and is a bad habit that should be eliminated.

Blogging (Alex Wieckowski)

I am new to this whole blogging thing and I found it interesting. I learned alot of new facts about my fellow classmates and became closer with them. Its pretty much what I expected, it is similar to twitter. What I don’t like about the blogging is that we are limited to certain tasks or assignment. I would like to post free write here on this blog so people can tell interesting stories about themselves or things that have happened to them, this would make us a lot closer.

This is a picture of me (#14) with my basketball team at Brooklyn Tech HS. Basketball has always played a key role in my life because it I love the game and whenever I play I always feel in the zone, and my head is clear and only thinking about the game that’s going on.

Graduating high school was one of my greatest accomplishment. I did have a great time at my school but I couldn’t wait to finish it. I’m standing next to one of my best friends in highschool. We have been friends since 10th grade and still hang out.

Swimming has always been one of my favorite things to do to relax. It doesn’t matter if its in a pool, lake or the ocean, I go swimming whenever I can.

This is one of the best days of my summer. This is the water fountain located at the entrance of  6 Flags. Rollarcoasters are extremely fun because of the adrenaline rush. It is even more fun since I went with some of my closest friends.

This is me doing what I do best, sleeping. I am a very active guy and athletic but like everyone else I enjoy sleeping even if its in the middle of the day.

Perfect class- Alex Wieckowski

The perfect class would be around 1 P.M. because it isn’t too early and it’s after lunch so students will pay attention. The perfect class would have around 20 or so students so that the teacher has time to help out the students and get to know them better. The teacher should enjoy the subject they teach and write clearly on the board. It would be fun to actually learn from something else than a textbook; such as class trips or hands on activities.
