The enrichment workshop that I enjoyed the most was probably the meeting with the academic advisor. I feel without that enrichment workshop I would have had a hard time registering for classes for next semester. Before the workshop I had made a schedule that I was looking to get for next semester. In that schedule I had two classes that I wasn’t eligible to take yet, CIS and ACC, which I would have registered for if it weren’t for the workshop. Besides helping me register for classes for next semester I think this workshop helped me to understand that I have to do research before I take action.

First Three Months At Baruch- Justin Musumarra
At the beginning of my time at Baruch things weren’t going as I planned. I had a lot on my plate at the beginning and the workload was a complete shock to my system. If this story continued throughout the semester the picture I would have used most likely would have been a sad face, but things turned around. As time went on I began getting adjusted to all the work and began managing my time so I could get everything done. On top of being able to manage my time efficiently I also began to excel in my classes, one of which I thought I had no chance of passing, which was Political Science. On top of that I met an amazing girl who helped me realize a lot of things about life. She made my first three months at Baruch a great experience that I would want to trade in for anything else. For this reason I’m able to use a smiley face as my image to describe my experience at Baruch thus far.
Leading Up to Registration- Justin Musumarra
The academic advisement session really helped me figure out what classes to register for for next semester. I had made one schedule that I was going to submit when registration came, but little did I know two of the classes I was going to register for I can’t take yet. I was looking to take CIS and ACC, but I can’t take CIS until I take BUS 1000 and I can’t take ACC until I have 30 credits. Since I am already credited for pre-calculus and calculus I need to fill in my semester with other electives along with the pre-requisites I need for admittance into the business school.
Career Goals- Justin Musumarra
I’m not positive what career I want, but I know it will either be in the accounting or marketing fields. I have always been a business minded person, especially since my family owns small businesses. In high school I took classes in marketing and accounting that I found intriguing and that is why I will pursue one of them as a career. There are a few things that I want in life and they are: money, nice cars, nice houses, and a family. Either one of the two careers mentioned above can provide me with the first three items on my list. Since I’m still not sure what I want to do I’m considering doing internships in both careers to see which one I like better because I want to make sure what I am doing with the rest of my life is something that I love.
E-mail Professor- Justin Musumarra
Dear Professor Cohen,
Upon receiving my grades I see that you gave me a grade of B- when according to my records I believe I should have an A. I’ve checked the syllabus numerous times to make sure I was not mistaken and I still believe my grade should be higher. If I could make an appointment to meet with you to discuss my grade I have all of my papers and exams to support my belief about my grade. If you could get back to me as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Justin Musumarra

Time Management- Justin Musumarra
In the first few weeks of college I was very overwhelmed with work and time management was one of my biggest issues. Soon enough I realized I had to do something about it because I knew if I didn’t I wasn’t going to be able to do all of my work. After reading the packet from class I realized that many of the time management techniques I read I already put into use. One of the most important things that I do to keep me on track is make a schedule. I look at everything that is due for the week and I set certain days to get certain subjects done. I don’t technically set aside a certain amount of hours though. I make sure that I get all the designated subjects completed on a certain day no matter how much time it takes me. This strategy has been working out well for me so far because I have been getting all of my work done and I have been excelling as well.
Monologue- Justin Musumarra
3:53 left in the fourth quarter. My teams down by 7 on the 5-yard line then boom, all of a sudden I go down and I wake up in the locker room. How did this happen? Here’s how it all began.
In my junior year of high school I began playing football in an organized league for the first time since I was eight. I was the quarterback on the team and when I played I made sure I always got the attention that I wanted. I was always careful especially when it came to my health. I was one of the best players on the team. It was getting close to the playoffs and I trained for it everyday. The day was here, the first round of the playoffs. My team was projected to win it all. And this is how it happened.
I was scrambling on the 5-yard line trying to find an open receiver, when all of a sudden a defender hit me from my blind side. He hit me so hard and I landed right on my shoulder of my throwing arm. After the hit, all I remembered was waking up in the locker room. They told me I suffered a concussion and dislocated my shoulder. We also lost the game. After they told me what had happened I felt like I didn’t do my best and I felt like I let my team down. I returned back to practice the next week and everyone was treating me differently, even my best friend. I felt like everything was going down hill, a few weeks later when the season was over it was time for try out’s for next season. My coach was the only one that didn’t seem to be acting different with me. So then the next week my coach let me watch the tryouts to see who was good enough for the team. My other teammates got mad at the fact that he let me do it, but I didn’t let it bother me. My teammates left me for a reason that I couldn’t understand, it wasn’t my fault that I got hurt. I wished I could of re-did that night so everything could be the same again. I knew I had to do something about it so I spoke to my team. After the whole problem was settled we started getting back to normal. We all became closer then we were in the beginning because we all learned how we can get passed our problems and keep moving forward.
But apparently things weren’t going to be as easy as it seemed. The next season began and we were on a roll, we couldn’t lose. But then things started turning for the bad again. My shoulder started giving me problems and it held me out of some games. There were days when I couldn’t even lift my arm; there was no way I was going to be able to throw a ball. Some of my teammates went back to their old ways of treating me like trash, but some stayed by my side. I tried everything I could to get myself healthy enough to play again, but nothing was working. My doctors advised me not to play because my shoulder would only get worse and there would be the possibility of me never being able to play again. I had to give up for the rest of the season so I would be able to play again in the future. It wasn’t easy, but now I play in a flag league to take out the possibility of getting hit hard and hurting my shoulder once again. I learned that sometimes you have to sacrifice to achieve a goal. It might not be the easiest thing to do, but everything happens for a reason and in the end things will always work out.
Response to Ticker Article- Justin Musumarra
I think the problem of cheating at Baruch is not right and needs to be corrected. Cheating gets people nowhere in life; especially in college where people are learning about what they want to do as a career. I think that cheating takes away the integrity of the person taking the information and the person giving it. It is degrading to both people knowing that one worked hard to earn their grade and the other person did nothing to earn the same grade. I think that everyone should do their own work so they are at least learning something even if their GPA doesn’t show it. Taking another persons information in order to keep your GPA up is wrong and won’t help you in your future, especially when it comes to getting a job and you don’t know what you are talking about because you cheated all throughout college.
Thoughts About Blogging- Justin Musumarra
My blogging experience has been good so far. I’ve had blogging experience from a class in high school, but this one is definitely more interesting. Blogging can be a boring experience unless you read and write about things that interest you. This is different than what I expected because the blog I had to do in high school was really boring so I expected this to be really boring too, but it really isn’t that bad. I’m not much of a blogger, but I do read sports related blogs occasionally to keep me up to date on important events. http://espn.go.com/espn/blog/index/_/name/berry_matthew This blog is one of the ESPN top Fantasy Football analyst’s and during the football season I check his blogs for scores, injury updates, etc. Another blog that I check occasionally is http://www.sbnation.com/ This site connects me to a whole list of about 300 sports related blogs, which again keeps me up to date on all sports related topics.
Who Am I- Justin Musumarra
The basketball and the football represent me as an athlete. These two sports help keep me focused not only in improving as an athlete, but helps to keep me focused on my studies as well. Knowing that I can’t play either sport if I don’t stay on top of my school work is a motivational factor to keep me going. The hands represent myself as a helping hand to others. Whenever someone needs help with something I’m always willing to help. I always put others ahead of myself and I think the hands are a very good representation of that. The hard work sign intertwines with the first three images. The hard work sign is a representation of how dedicated I am to my school work, athletic work, and to my classmates. The sign is a representation of how hard I strive to make myself better everyday. The venn diagram is a very good description of how I strive to work hard in all areas to not only help myself, but help others as well. At home, at school, and in my community, I like to do things to improve the lives of others. The word family means a lot to me. Family means a lot to Italian’s and the word shows how family plays a huge role in my life and how important my family is to me and my success. My family has played a huge role in shaping me into the person that I am today and I really appreciate that. The books represent how hard I work in school to better my education. Like I mentioned before I like to help others so the books also represent how I can assist my classmates with their work if they ever need help. The word friend represents what I can be to my classmates. I can be a helping hand, someone to hang out with, or someone to help keep my classmates motivated when they are thinking about quitting. These images are a brief representation of who I am and who I can be to my classmates. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better and working with everyone throughout the year.
