Who am I? I’m Spider man. Haha anyways all jokes aside, I’m just a boy with great dreams. They actually aren’t all that great. They just mean something to me. I want to get somewhere in life. Like both mentally and physically. I want to graduate, grow up, get a good job, save enough money. Then go travel the world with my friend. Well first off I will save enough to let my parents go travel because I owe everything to them. Without them, there wouldn’t be me.  I want to be a professional bowler one day or a bike mechanic. But those dreams are considered silly and childish according to my parents. So now I am set on the goal of becoming an actuary. Being motivated by my friend, I am now currently trying my best in school and everything that I do. I want to be the best. I want to stand above others. I want to impress her. So back to the question of who am I. I’m a biker, bowler, a son, a close friend, and someone’s boyfriend. Well if you saw the first 4 pictures of my “slideshow” you should have noticed… I’m crazy about biking. I own several bikes. One of them which I have built from scrap and did a paint job on. I completely stripped the brakes off of this bike so yes there is no brakes. SOOO THRILLING! I love being outdoors and just exploring on my bike and just exploring the world. I purposely get lost sometimes just to make the trip more exciting.  I love biking so much that my friend and I both created a biking club back in high school as you can see I was in the school papers. Aside from biking, people would know me as the kid with strange hobbies. I collect all sorts of rubik’s cubes and learn how to solve them on my own. I also play with yoyos. Yes its not a common toy but what can I say? I enjoy weird things. As you may notice. Yes I do have a big puffy purple jacket as well as a pink book bag. No I am not color blind. I just prefer some unusual colors sometimes over the normal black and white. I believe I am expressing myself through the clothes I wear. The colors I wear expresses the way I feel. Anyways not going to go too deep into that topic. I am like the best bowler ever. Not being conceited or anything but I almost bowled a perfect 300 game during a tournament. Too bad I got a split on the second frame. Pretty disappointed at that but one day I’ll get that 300. I am a friend, my closest friend believe it or not is brown. So we get called Harold and Kumar a lot. He lives a block away from me. Even though we go to different colleges now. We still talk and hang out at least a few times a week. I am a boyfriend of the girl I am trying to impress (hope it stays that way). She is currently far far away because of college. I won’t be seeing her in person for at least another half a year. It’s okay though we keep in contact whenever we’re both free. One day I hope to become someone who is better than what I just listed here. Who am I? I am a boy with great dreams.

Who Am I? (David Aptekar)

Because no website has every song on my list I didn’t create an actual playlist, instead I will just list all the songs below and allow each of you to look them up for yourselves online. Enjoy.

1. Kaskade with Tiesto ft. Haley – Only You

First off, I picked this song because it is by far one of my most favorite songs ever. Also it can be seen that you yourself are the only one that can make a difference in your own life, despite that is not exactly what the song is about.

2. Simone – Caminhando (Chuckie & Nico Hamuy Bootleg)

I chose this song because in my eyes it is the idea of taking ideas one is not familiar with, in this case the Portuguese language, and making something completely new out of it which is what this song attempts to do. It also shows I am open to other cultures and ideas.

3. Vado ft. Jae Millz – Filthy Game

Stepping in a different direction with this song, I chose it because of the idea it presents that life is a filthy game and in order for one to excel in it they will have to get their hands dirty. In  other words, I know I will have to do some certain things to get ahead, there obviously is a limit, but this song reminds me of that fact and it stays with me.

4. D12 – American Psycho

Every single person has some aspect of weirdness inside of them, in some there’s a lot of that characteristic. Inside me there is the strange part that people on occasion will witness, and just like in the song, I am a bit of a psycho.

5. Richard Durand – Always the Sun

Many people get too glum over their lives, I have learned to always look for the good in it, the sunshine if you will. As this song goes its meaning of the sun always being there is parallel to my idea of always finding good in life.

6. Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People

This song reminds me of the fact that there is always evil in man, and I hope to never forget that. It is very difficult to gain my trust because I know people will love to screw you over the second they get a chance so this song shows the part of me that stays away from those type of people.

7. Tiesto & Mark Knight ft. Dino – Beautiful World

No matter how shitty people can be though, the world is the most beautiful thing in the…well world. Despite all of its corruption and evil it is best to find the parts that are still beautiful and enjoy them. This song has a meaning of finding the beauty in the world which is not always visible and I attempt to do that everyday, its part of who I am.

8. deadmau5 & Kaskade – I Remember

Remembering how you got somewhere is very important, which is something I don’t always do despite its importance. This song reminds me to keep that part of me awake, the part that remembers where I came from, why I am there, and because of who am I succeeding?

9. Michael Andrews & Gary Jules – Mad World

This world is very mad and keeping sane in it is not always so easy, but it is a part of me that work quite well.

10. Cedric Gervais – Molly

The goal of life is to find what makes you happy, as in the song Molly makes someone very happy. A part of me is always looking for something that makes me happy as should every person in life.

My Playlist

Will’s 10

Promises by Nero

This song, while not very lyric-heavy, represents a certain genre of music which I enjoy. This, in itself, makes it speak to the taste in music I have.

Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin

While it can be interpreted on a number of levels, Dazed and Confused does go over the theme of uncertainty over ones own reality. Growing up, I had similar feeling of uncertainty.

Homecoming by Kanye West

Ironically, I have not lived at home since about the age of seventeen. I enjoy the song because it describes the sensation of feeling at home in the city you are from. I’ve lived many places in New York, often without my parents, but nonetheless I’ve always felt comfortable within New York.

Snow by RHCP

The song is pretty laid back but it’s actually talking about the difficulties of dealing with a substance abuse problem, which I can relate to because I’ve unfortunately had experience with that in my family.

Wild Boy by MGK

This song is a constant reminder of my summer before coming to Baruch. Most people have songs which define certain points in their life, and I consider that summer to be one of my most entertaining, making it important to me.

My Hero by Foo Fighters

I used to relate this song to my father, who is hands down the most influential person I’ve had in my life. It describes the relationship I have with him, as he’s been more of a brother to me than anything.

Aerials by System of a Down

I used to define my success based on the amount of money I managed to acquire. At some point, I realized that money won’t necessarily bring me happiness or peace. Aerials’ lyrics outline this theme, as it makes the point that devaluing your possessions will in turn “free your mind.”

Come as You Are by Nirvana

This song discusses that people should present themselves as they are, with all of their flaws exposed. Most people you meet in this world try to cover up all the negative aspects of their personality. Through life experiences I’ve learned the best people to keep around are those who are not always presenting themselves as perfect, simply because no one like that exists.

Mr.Brightside by the Killers

This song describesa relationship where the artist falls in love with a girl way too quickly, which causes her not to take him seriously. She ends up being extremely promiscuous to say the least, a fact which greatly depresses the artist. He is hoping for something in a person which is not there, which is something I can relate to greatly.

Amerika – Rammstein

This song by the industrial band Rammstein mocks the infulence this country has had on the rest of the world, and how it believes this influence is for the better. This song reflects many of my personal political views and issues with this country.

Who Am I – Wan Yin lee

(( Yeah, okay I have no idea why the other two are doing the whole “I am a ___, etcetc” but I hope I didn’t do this wrong. (´・ω・) ))

PON PON PON. That sums up my play list, and apparently my life, in one word. When you venture through my ten song play list, that is all you will hear, that is all you will see and perhaps – maybe hopefully, that is all you will sing. Since I have to fill up this blog entry with 500 words, I will just casually insert the translations to this song since it’s in Japanese (except for that one English cover that is actually quite well done compared to everything else on YouTube).
…Except I won’t do that because I’m too lazy to type everything out and copy pasting the lyrics is… pretty obnoxious and it boots me way beyond the 500 word range (even though that’s nice).
Well, let’s just start by relating myself this song – yes, song, not play list since we can obviously see that they’re all the same song. I tend to like very colorful, pastel things and so, yes. Also, the song itself is pretty catchy and annoying and I tend to be drawn towards catchy and annoying things as I am pretty annoying myself. There was also something about head phones mentioned in the song and well, I’m addicted to music, as most of us are. Uhmmm… Right, so instead of talking about the song itself, let’s talk about the singers. Don’t some of these songs sound autotuned to the extreme to you all? Well, that’s because it’s actually a computer program “singing” by using various voice samples and blah blah technical things. This program is known as Vocaloid and many sound banks have their own mascots accompanying them so fans can actually worship a face instead of just a computer singing or something.
…I’m so tempted to just fill up the rest of my post with PON PON PON’s right now. Uhm. Yeah. Okay. 200 more words. Well, I’m really obsessed with Japanese pop culture so, yes we’re going in a circle back to the play list. Funny thing really, because apparently someone interpreted the song as Kyary, the original singer, going around and around in a circle… mentally since her thoughts aren’t coherent or something or I can’t yeah okay I give up I’M SORRY.
Now just imagine that this me awkwardly singing along to PON PON PON. ( ´ ▽ )ノ ♥
PONPON way way way
PONPON way PON way PONPON
way way PONPONPON
way way PON way PON way way
PONPON way way way
PONPON way PON way PONPON
way way PONPONPON
way way PON way PON way way
JUST NEED TO PON PONPON A FEW MORE PON PON PON PON PON PON TIMES.
But you know, since the assignment technically says to write “no more than 500 words” then that means I can’t go over the word limit, but I can be under it or something like that, yes yes? There’s still seventeen more words to go, but I guess I’ll suffer it out. Five more now I’m done.

Who am I?-Steven Jemal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq97RxhieT4&feature=player_detailpage   – This video is here to show you where I live. It provides a nice visual and backdrop to my life.—I take the video while riding my skateboard down my street.

Who am I?

I am a son, a grandson, a brother, a Jew, a student, a tennis player, a friend and a role model.

The most important people in my life are my family and friends. No matter how much I might try to describe “who am I” or even my hobbies, my description will always circle back to my family and friends. From the time I was but an infant, my parents ingrained in me my values as an American, as a Jew, as a son and as a brother.
When I was ten, my grandfather, whom I call Gido (which is Arabic for grandpa) asked me, “Steven, what do you want to do?” This question can be taken on a large scale or on a smaller scale. As a typical ten year old would answer, I answered on the smaller scale. “Gido, I want to play tennis.” Tennis was the only sport I didn’t play at this age and I was all for trying it. That same day I went for a walk around town with my Gido, and came across a crummy garage sale. There were two rackets hanging on display. One, a wooden racket with a head size about equal to three tennis balls, and one so long it was almost my height at the time. Having no knowledge that these rackets were outdated I asked my grandfather to buy both of them. Every Sunday my Gido would take me to the courts around the corner from my house and feed me tennis balls. I grew to love the sport, not only because of the sports objectives but because it was something I used to do with my grandfather. At the time I remember feeling it was my responsibly as a grandson to play every Sunday with him and I loved that. My grandfather not only shaped me into the family oriented person I am today. He shaped me into the confidant young adult I am as well, he always pumped me up as a kid making me believe I was invincible and can do anything I desired. And I still have this mentality today.
One of the most difficult aspects of leaving New Jersey and moving to Brooklyn is leaving my family. I always felt I had the obligation to shape my brother into an adult, an athlete and an overall respectful young adult. I try my best to be a respectable role model for him to look up to. Now that I live away from home most of the week, I really miss just hanging out with my brother and watching him grow into the little stud he’s taking after.
As the oldest son of five, I was the house guinea pig. My parents always sheltered me from the outside world (which isn’t too hard living in NJ.) As I got older my parents slowly stared giving me my freedom and independence. Before going out they would always speak to me about the importance of being responsible and handling myself as a role model for my younger siblings. These talks defiantly helped shape my morals and values as a young adult, son, and older brother.
As you could see from the video, my house is always occupied by friends, and family. I come from a quite block in West Longbranch NJ, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. My surrounding shaped me into the person I am today. I am a product of my surroundings.

Who am i? -Jessica Hong

Who am I?

I am a woman, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a friend, a scholar, an artist, a student and a human being.

Being raised in my family household, I grew up to the person that I am today, an educated and a well mannered adult.  I am thankful for my grandparents for raising my parents to be respectable and honorable people who have raised me so well. Even though they were never been educated and have low paying jobs, they are still my role models.  They effort and their work ethics showed my sibling and I the power and the need of education.  Everyday when they come home from work , they managed to stir up a smile on their faces despite the long hours they have worked. When I would question the authenticity of their smile they say that they come home with a smile because they have earn money to support their children’s educational lives.   People always state that “Asians are always smart”, but that stereotype isn’t true at all. I am dumb and beyond atrocious in some subjects, but I work hard to reach expectations, honor my parent’s wishes and show that their hard works are not in vain.

The playlist that I’ve composed display my personality.  I am quite old-fashion in my taste of music, though I firmly believe that these music are true in words and emotions. Unlike the music that we hear today that are three mainly three things : Sex, Party and Booties, I feel like the generations have literally ran out of ideas, computerized music and auto tunes are complete BS to me.

Any ways, more or less these music on my playlist define me in one perspective.  On the personal level, I love art and drawing is my passion. Being in an art high school and majoring in art for the last 4 years, I honestly considered it to be the golden times for me, although my family don’t see artist as a serious professional occupation I continue on secretly as a “hobby”.  ummm…. I have nothing else to write…I spent the summer working? Began working as a teacher assistance then became a substitute teacher, the people there are nice and funny.  My coworkers are very intelligent and very socializing, and many I still keep in touch with after the summer. The children that goes to that summer school are pretty adorable and very respectful towards others, while there are some exceptions but overall they are great kids with bright futures.

40 words to go

Baruch college is quite impressive on my first two weeks here, the campus and the library really exceeds my expectations.  I like my schedule and my professors, I like my political science class, math and english classes. Despite being bombard by the homework assignments, I’m not really having major issues with my classes. However I am having trouble making friends which is pretty new to me because I never have problems making friends.  I hope to make friends that would last a life time.

506 words BOOM I am done.

a perfect class. -Jessica Hong

In my view, I believe a perfect class would consist of a great teacher who is passionate about his/her job and subject that is being taught. A teacher who would care for his/her students’ well being, dreams, troubles and work ethics. A teacher who jots down notes on the board for those who are visual learners .As for the class itself, a class of less then 20 student would be idealistic: students who are serious about the classes, their education and their future. A classroom, where race, gender, sexual orientation or ethnic background do not matters; a judgement free zone where students are able to express their ideas, theories or imaginations.  As for actives, i would love to have dinner/ lunch trips where teachers and students get to gather around and share a peaceful dinner/ lunch; not being students nor professors  but educated people talking about the current world society, national and international problems and politics.

Perfect Class

My ideal class would have to start at 9, because it’s not too early and not too late. I would also like it to be a history class because that has always been my favorite subject. I would also like to have a medium sized class and to be able to sit in the front row. The professor would have to be very energetic in the way that they teach. I love visual aids so that would help me learn better. Well I guess that is it I’m not too picky when it comes to classes. I love all my classes so far, the professors are really great. I don’t like my math class well that’s just because I never really liked math.

Perfect class

In my opinion a perfect classroom environment contains both warmth and knowledge. A class shouldn’t feel like a lecture, in a class, the students should feel connected to the teacher and the teacher should feel connected to the students. I love a class which contains humor. Humor lightens up the class environment and makes a class overall more enjoyable to me. If a class just feels like it’s droning on, I tend to lose both focus, and interest and end up zoneing out. If a class is both informative and humorous I’m always listening in for the next joke and listening to the information being fed as well.
