Mooch’s “THE” (The Hottest Entertainment) Playlist

Easy to dream a dream though it’s harder to live it… My motto is work hard play hard and my attitude is “keep moving forward”… We live and we learn… I’m learning that we have to earn what we want; my ambition is to win… I am learning what it means to be responsible and smart about my decisions…

I’m not all about being seriousĀ and I realize life ain’t “all about the money”, as I enjoy the adventures life has to offer…Ā I really enjoy learning about different cultures and partaking in their unique customs… I like visiting museums and public parks, going out to wine and dine, and playing sports… I’m big on sports ‘cuz you already know ballin is my hobby, so holla at me… ESPECIALLY if playing basketball is your thing… I’m pretty much down for playing basketball anytime!! Although I generally tend to be preoccupied, I usually find some time to play basketball during the day (or at night which is really fun too)…Ā I also like hanging out around New York, traveling outside the city and meeting new people at social gatherings…

I would have to say music is extremely prevalent in my everyday escapades (as a matter fact I’m listening to some music as I write this) so I will attempt to convey a sense of my character to the faithful blog readers through these songs I am going to post.

*Discretion Advised… Most of the songs on here may or may not depict me accurately; regardless, they are songs I enjoy listening to… So I leave the interpretation to the audience… Please don’t take offence!! :)*

Michelle Lee

Hey! My name’s Michelle Lee, I’m 18 years old, and I live in Queens. Baruch College is one of my top choices and being here today is amazing! Like most students I want to major in accounting. I come from a family of 3 siblings and me being the oldest. However, not many people notice that I’m the oldest since my sister is taller than me. It sucks being only 5 feet when your sister, two years younger than you, is 5’4 but ohwells. I also have a younger brother and thank goodness he isn’t as tall as me yet! Although they may be annoying at times, I’ll still love them at the end of the day. If it wasn’t for siblings, my days and nights would probably be very boring.

These four people are very important to me. I still remember the day I met Patricia(on the left) like it was just yesterday. The first thing she asked me was ā€œCan I see your English hw?ā€ After that day, we became best friends and not only is she my best friend, she’s my ā€˜twin’. People always get us confused (I swear it’s because we are the same height). My other best friend, Kelly (on the right) and I met in junior high. As years came by, we became closer and closer. It was fate we said; our parents met when they boarded the same plane when they first came to America. We are the second generation! The two guys in the back are my ā€˜brothers’, the older brothers that I’ve never had.

This group of people here are amazing! They were always there for me no matter what. I spent most of my senior year of high school with them and we have been through so much. They make up the person I am today. We helped and guided each other into our paths in life. I’m always stressing over small things and these people calm my nerves down. We never let each other down.

I love to travel although I didn’t go on many family vacations. My favorite vacation was going to California. If I am able to, I would just pack my bags right now and hop on a plane to Cali. It is amazing there. The scenery was gorgeous and I would do anything to be able to live there.

One of the first clubs that I joined was Key Club. Key Club also carved me into the person I am today. I learned a lot through the walks and volunteer work that I did. You get a good feeling after helping someone. About every two weeks, there would’ve been an event and my friends are I are usually the first ones to sign up. We were very dedicated to Key Club.

Aside from Key Club, I love to work with kids. I’ve done summer camps as well as tutoring. These little adorable kids made me love to work with kids even more. I spent one of my summers with pre-kindergarteners and they were so sweet and caring. They loved me as much as I love them. Even though I love working with kids, accounting will still be my career.

My hobbies are cooking and listening to music. Usually when I’m not busy, you’ll see me standing next to the stove/oven. I like to try new things. Music is my escape from reality. When I need a break from the world, I would stick my headphones in and relax.

Well, here’s just a little something about me!

James’ music, 2 CHAINZ

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/James+s+Playlist/77512373

First off, i love my boy 2 Chainz , so his hit song “No Lie” had to be on my list.

Other than that, i’m pretty proud of my “Crew” and you can even say brothers, so the songs”Clique” and “Crew Love” are relevant. The reason i have pride in my crew is that we’ve been through hardships, physical and mental, hardships that some people will never experience. We have known each other for almost 8 years now and we will stick together till the end. Ever since middle school, we’ve been great friends. Some of us were on the Brooklyn Technical Wrestling team, and really bonded through that, and if not, through weight lifting. We’ve always kept “Marching On” and we are definitelyĀ fighters.

I’m someone who gets ahead of himself in almost all aspects of life, and always get overly excited or in to something. I like to jump into things without really examining the full scope of things, so “Over my Head” really is a great song that describes me. Except when it comes to waking up, haha, i always say i never want to leave my bed. And “Still Got It” was just a song that i found really catchy at a party and it really stuck to me.

Siby Anan – An Insight

Hey, DTF! My name is Siby and I am 17 years old (but I’m 18 days from being 18!) and I live in Queens, New York. There are few things that I’ve felt passionate about in my life, and I think in order to really know me, you need to know my attachment to words. I am a writer, and I will always be a writer regardless of what profession I go into. I live and breathe words, and that explains my obsession with reading and writing, both of which I started doing fervently when I was nine years old.

But that’s just a tiny part of me that you probably would’ve figured out anyway. I am many things: I am also a daughter, a sister, a cousin to people that I love very much. Here’s a photo of my brother and me on the day of my graduation:

Although we don’t get along (at all. EVER.), I know that at the end of the day, we’re family and that’s all that matters. So regardless of the ridiculous things we fight about throughout the day, he’ll always protect me and I’ll always love him (though I won’t ever admit it to him).

But that’s lame family stuff, here’s where you get an insight into the things I’ve learned through my favorite things in the entire universe other than chocolate and marshmallows: BOOKS!

I like to think of myself as an avid reader. Books are a huge and important part of my life, and they have been since I was a nine year old child with her nose stuck in the first Harry Potter book. I want to use this opportunity to share some of the books that changed my life, and turned me into the person I am today.

Here is the first series I ever read. There are the tales of Harry Potter and his two best friends as they struggle to fight against the Dark Lord in his efforts to assert wizard supremacy over the world. I learned many things from this series; the power of love and friendship, and how the good defeat the bad. These are important lessons to learn as a child, and I am very fortunate to have been part of the Harry Potter generation: the children that almost literally grew up with Harry Potter. These books helped me realize my passion for reading, and through that, my passion for writing. Yes, these books are what made me want to be a writer in the first place: a wanted to create a world where people would be absorbed into simply by opening a book.

I was first exposed to these books in sixth grade, when a friend literally shoved the first two books toward me and said, “You should read these.” These contain the journey of Eragon, a boy who starts off the book knowing about as much about himself as we do. Slowly, through his adventures, he learns the truth about his past, and the important things that he must do to overthrow the evil king in the future. This series transported me to a whole different world at a time when I really needed it. My parents were beginning to grow distant, and I needed a distraction from real life. Through these books, I got the distraction I needed. I must’ve read the first two books eight times (no exaggeration).

I picked this up at a time when I was trying to get into science fiction, but that was a genre that I had never really been exposed to before, so I needed to ease my way into it. This is a series about a girl trapped in a dystopian society where the president is tyrannical, hosting an annual “Hunger Games”, where two children are reaped from each district and forced to fight each other to the death. The series is a young adult science fiction one, so I was able to ease into it quite well. The thing about these books is that they make you think about real governments and the injustices that common people must face every day. It made me question the things that citizens are forced to do “because it is the law”, and whether those things are entirely necessary.

John Green is another writer that had a huge impact on me, someone who still aspires to be a writer despite that I realize how literature is slowly deteriorating and anything I write will be compared to such works as John Green’s and Sarah Dessen’s and other modern young adult novelists. When I picked up my first John Green novel, which was Looking for Alaska, I was very surprised. I had found that John Green and I had something in common: we had similar writing styles, and he wrote exactly the kinds of books that I enjoyed reading. There is always something to be learned from his books, and I find myself completing marathon readings of all his books once I’ve finished one.

Aside from books, I like to watch a lot of television shows. One show I watch almost religiously is Doctor Who. I won’t pretend to be one of the people that have watched it since the very beginning, but I have watched all the episodes since they relaunched it in 2005.

The Doctor is an alien that stole a TARDIS machine because he wanted to see the universe. Along the way, he picks up companions that make him realize how “humany wumany” he really is, and how “wibbly wobbly” time is. The Doctor is a man that constantly reminds me that there is always something to be done to save people. He truly lives up to his name: he is a doctor, he is a healer.

Another show is How I Met Your Mother. I rarely stick around until the very end of a show, but I’ve watched this show obsessively since my brother torrented all of the episodes and constantly nagged at me until I started watching it.

The show is about Ted, who is telling the story of how he met his wife to his two children in 2030. This show is hilarious and so addicting. Not only are the characters great and very well developed, they face things that real people may find themselves facing one day: like when you’re looking for someone to settle down with and fall in love with someone who is afraid of commitment, or when you’ve been with someone for such a long time (like, say, 8 years) that you forgot who you are as a person. The characters are so easygoing and lovable, and they all have these unique qualities that make them different from all the other shows out in the world right now.

So that’s me, a girl who likes to read and watch shows she loves. Here’s a bunch of other things I love: Korean dramas, singing in the rain, painting my nails, taking pictures of myself, spending hours on Tumblr, going out with my friends and doing absolutely nothing yet creating infinite memories that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

I’m not naive (well, maybe a little bit). I know that things change and people change and the world doesn’t stop for anybody. It seems like just yesterday I was pulling on my boots to go snowtubing on my senior trip, and putting on makeup for prom, and walking down the aisle during graduation with tears already in my eyes. But this is a new beginning, and I may not be the girl in the oversized purple hoodie with the dragon on the back anymore, but I am more than willing to let new people in. And the time to do that is now now now now now.

Maybe I can’t be a dragon forever. Maybe I felt so attached to my dragons because I graduated with only 99 other people. But I believe I’m ready to be a bearcat.

My Amazing Playlist

It’s funny how the music put times in perspective.ā€- Jun Seba (Nujabes)

I don’t think it would be said any better. Music plays an enormous role in my life on a daily basis. Like any other art form or activity, music acts like an outlet for me. From days where I’m as happy as I can be to days where things don’t look too great, music is always there. Music has becomes such an important part in my life, that I can’t even function properly without it. I study to music, to play games to music, I watch TV to music. It has become such a habitual thing. Music also allows for a comfort. It’s like a friend who is always there for you when you need motivation or a little boost.

Having a Type A Personality, I often stress over little things and am a victim of over thinking. As far as I can remember, I was always the guy who would always be stressed. Whether it was about a small quiz I’m having tomorrow or about my future stability 10 years from now. I could manage to connect failing a quiz to me being homeless because of it. Ā I almost always have something going through my head, and it really isn’t good for my health. That’s where music comes in. After a long day I love to wind down, and music helps me do that. Many songs I listen to are relaxing and help clear your minds. That isn’t all though. My taste in music varies greatly. I listen from everything from hip-hop to rap to alternative rock. Although it seems like this is a popular array of genres, the songs I listen to have their own special vibe to them. So give my play list a listen to, and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. At least I hope not.

Heart of Courage – Two Steps From Hell:

Now that you’re all good and ready…

I had to ask the kids from DTF that I’m sitting with what we were supposed to write about, and they said to write about myself. Well, I have a confession… I’m Iron Man (at least to the kids in my dorm). Genius, check. Billionaire? Not so much. Seriously though, people ought to act like they’re superheroes on the daily. The world would be a much more awesome place. Anyways, I’m Nick. 24, veteran, totally awesome, insane(ly smart), possibly a functional alcoholic. I’m always down for an adventure, love meeting new people, and seriously need or explore more of NYC (I’m not from here. Take me places!!!). Oh, and join clubs. They’re awesome. Totally awesome. (actually, that advice applies to everything. Be awesome.)

THE DEFINITION OF RIA.

FAMILY.

Family, the only people in my life that I can rely on in any situation. I always smile to myself and think of all the moments that I have spent with them and how my life would have never been the same without their encouragement that I can do anything and become anything that I want.

SCHOOL.

You know that girl from the movies, the perfect one that is the president of her school, the one that everyone knows and that is smart, well that was me in high school without the perfect part. My school spirit and love for school has defined me since my preschool days. I always loved school and my school spirit has always been a part of me and with that said you can see how my high school days seemed as if they were out of a movie.

STARBUCKS.

This is my energy that keeps me so active. Being able to participate in all that I do, go to school and keep up in my social life is all due to Starbucks and all the energy that they give me. I must have Starbucks every other day and without it I would not be the same energetic and social person that I am.

CREATIVITY.

Creative and fun. My baking ideas are the things that make me unique. While everybody just make goods through recipes I create and design something that just comes to me. I love to bake and with this I can let my imagination flow, my creativity design and let my ideas come to life.

GREEK AND PROUD.

Greek and proud is what I say when people ask me what my nationality is. I always love saying I’m from Greece, and I also love to Greek dance any chance I get. I represent one of the 14 Dodecanese Island of Greece in the City of New York. We represent our nationality; join the youth of our culture and dance at many events.

SOFTBALL.

One word SOFTBALL. Growing up I played soccer and i was pretty good for a girl that always weighed 15 pounds less than all the other girls my age. I played all the way through sophomore year and then one day for fun I decided to pick up a bad. First ball pitched *swing* down center field, second pitch straight down right field at that point I fell out of love with soccer and straight in love with softball. Center fielder 21 Ria Zouroudis the smallest yet best outfielder on junior varsity.

MY SOUL.

MY spirit, MY partner in crime, MY best friend and MY better second half. He tells me to my face the things that I don’t want to hear. Anastasi the music to my dancing, he has always hid in the shadows of my life and always telling me truth even if it hurts me is the reason I love him as a boyfriend and a best friend.

FRIENDS.

My friends are who I am. In my Greek culture we say “tell me who your friends are so I can tell you who you are,” and as I go through my friends I see my reflection looking back at me, my randomness, my creativity, my passion my spunk and I realize that without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Kyle’s DTF Post

Family is a huge part of my life. Pictured here is from left to right me, my sister, my brother, my sister in-law and my parents. This picture was actually taken at my brothers wedding. My parents have given me everything i need in life and i don’t know what i would do without them. My siblings and i have a great relationship, always having fun and laughing whenever we are together. I really do love my family.
Family is extremely important but i don’t know what i would do without my friends. I have a great group of friends, some shown above, who i am always just having a great time with. Every chance i get i am out with them doing anything from playing sports to just watching TV. Ā It was hard when some of them went away to college but this just opens the door to make more great friends while still having these friends around.
Basketball is a huge part of my life and has been for some time. I have been playing since i was in the 2nd grade and have really grown to love it. Theres not a day that goes by where I’m not playing, whether it be shooting in front of my house, going to the park or having a game. I played all four years of high school, earning All-County honors in nassau as a senior. I hope to possibly try out for the Baruch Team and if not definitely play intrumurals.
Music is a big relaxer for me. I love to listen to music in my free time just to relax and get my mind off of things. I could just put my head phones on all day and listen to music if i had time. I enjoy mostly rap and hip-hop but listen to other genres as well. My favorite rappers being Jay-Z and Eminem.
Finally, i love food. There is nothing better to me than a good meal. Pizza is a natural favorite of mine but i like a variety of things. Chipotle is another one of my favorites. ALL i know is i better keep working out because as much as i love food I could gain a ton of weight if i stop. Gotta love food.

Ying Yi Huang and I

Ying Yi and I went to the same high school: High School of Economics and Finance, located at the heart of Wall Street in Lower Manhattan. It was across the street from the Occupy Wall Street movement; a movement that provided us with a crazy but a memorable senior year. We remember walking around the park and commenting on how disgusting it smelled (the local businesses had shut down their bathrooms). The park used to be the ā€œlunch spot,ā€where the juniors and seniors of our high school would meet to eat after buying lunch from the neighboring fast food places. After all that went down at the park, there was no way we would eat there ever again.

Aside from the chaos outside of our school, inside our school, the chaos resided in the basement, in the form of our gym class. If you were to ask anyone at our school how is it like going to school there, the common answer would probably be:ā€œIts good…but man, the gym will kill you!!!ā€ We thought the same freshman year but as seniors we were like ā€œGym? Pshh..its easy!!!ā€ It would be easy because the gym teachers were so glad that we were seniors, as they ā€œwould never have to see our face any more,ā€ that they gave us a lighter load of exercises to do (they hated the incoming freshman with a passion). A regular gym class consisted of jogging/running for twenty minutes, ten sets of ten different push ups, ten sets of ten different crunches, and five minutes of non-stop jump jacks. It was our boot camp. The good thing about it is that we never need to worry about what we ate since we knew we would have gym class to burn everything off.

Speaking of food, we both like to eat food. Just the other day, we went to Popeyes and had chicken and fries. The fries were so good; they were better than the ones at McDonalds and Burger King. In the morning, we are most likely to get something with eggs, such as baconĀ  or sausage. I like coffee since I am not a morning person: I could stay up at night but never be able to wake up in the morning. Ying Yi and I are regular junk food junkies, whether it be candy or cookies, we like sugar. Well, I prefer chocolate (hint, hint).

Another thing Ying Yi and I remember aboutĀ  our senior year at our high school was our AP Calculus class. We would sit around during lunch trying to figure out the answers to the questions on the homework. Some of us would be at the computer, trying to Google the shortcuts to solving the problems. Ten minutes before the bell rang for class, the entire class would be sitting out in the hall, outside the room, with our calculators and pieces of paper with some type of math on it. We kind of still do the same thing here at Baruch., except the difference is that instead of sitting in the hallway, we will be found at the library.

Ying Yi and I also enjoy shopping and listening to music. Well, Ying Yi is the shopper; I am not. She is always looking at pictures and online catalogs, searching through various bags, shoes, shirts, etc. I like going out shopping once in a while but not as much as her. I like listening to music: any music that is ā€œdance-able.ā€

My 2 D.runk T.o F.unction Playlist

Click for some good musik

The playlist above encompasses pretty much every facet of my life – from my hyper-outgoing side to my chill conservative side and back. The first song on this playlist “The City” by Madeon is on there to show my love for the city. There’s always something going on, something to do, people to talk to and food to eat. The city is crazy, dangerous, and I wouldn’t live anywhere else if I had the chance. The second song, “Don’t Look Back” by Telepopmusik is not only a chill ass song to listen to when you’re just thinking but it holds a meaning to it; a meaning that I very much do follow in life. I try not to look back at anything I do because whatever it is, it’s in the past. And it’d be much easier for me to move on and progress in life when I don’t dwell on the past and it’s regrets. WORK HARD PLAY HARD! Just by this song’s title you can tell what Wiz Khalifa is all about. Much like him, I try to stay on my grind no matter what it is, as long as the work put into whatever I do pays off in the end. And what’s working without playing?! Nothing should be taken too seriously because if everyone in this world just worked without enjoying life, we’d be a bunch of robots or some shit. The next song, “All About Us” is dedicated to my girlfriend of 30 months. Whenever I’m with her, nothing else really matters. This song shows that falling in love is really a supernatural thing that just takes over two people. He Is We really does a great job in making this song a cheesy as fuck song that you can’t help but smile to when listening to it. “Burn” by Meek Mill and Big Sean goes harddd. I get as ghetto as this song when something like this goes off in the studio. Although I don’t really seem like the guy that would relate with dudes such as Meek Mill, I just love the feel of “Burn” and the flow, hooks, punches and everything. The next song, Miguel’s “Let’s Just Be” is a song that tells a story of a guy who just wants to kick back and chill with his girl. No fancy dinners, no extravagant dates, just staying at home and enjoying each others company. This describes my relationship and attitude towards it. We all should just be and enjoy what we have in life sometimes you know? The last song on this playlist, “Every Tear Is A Waterfall” by Coldplay is a touching song about a person who loses a loved one and listens to a song that reminds him of said loved one. His emotions cannot be contained and his tears are not just tears, but waterfalls, showing that his agony is impossible to bear. I can’t really empathize with him but I can imagine how painful it must be.
