Bridget’s Playlist
My playlist is very diverse. I personally like all different kinds of music and I am very open to new music i don’t tend to stick to one kind. My Family members all like different types of music so that is why I have learned to love so many different kinds. My music changes on the particular mood that I am in at the time, music has the ability to set a mood or charge any emotion you have. I love to run so I listen to upbeat music a lot but I also am a commuter and on my down time on the train to and from school I like to unwind with more of a relaxing style of music. I like motivational music to get me through a tough day or week because it keeps me going when i need it most. I also believe in living your life to the fullest because you only live once so a lot of my music is based around that theme. To describe yourself in just ten songs is a hard thing to do because I don’t personally have a set personality because my life continues to change and so do my favorite songs. But music will always be in my life because music makes you fell not alone in the world because a song shows you that someone is probably feeling the same way you are at a time.

Maritza’s Who am I Playlist
So basically I tried to develop a playlist that had songs that exudes my perception of life and the things that I value. I decided to start with Jill Scott Golden because the song is a very positive song about simply living a very fulfilling life not letting anything hinder you from enjoying the beauty of life and all it has to offer. Eventhough life sometimes brings us disappointments I think its very important for one to over come those moments and find a way to turn a negative into a positive. I then choose a few song like Unpretty, Video, and take me as I am because we live in a society that puts such an emphasis on the exterior and have a very one minded perception of what beauty should look like and these songs just focus on loving yourself for who you are. These songs are uplifting and thats why I choose them because I personally really had to realize the beauty that lies within me and everyone should. I choose Rhianna We all want love, I absolutely love this song because I think its what makes us all human the fact that no matter how much we may deny it we all truly want and need to be loved. I choose Ambitious Girl because I am very ambitious I always aim for great things and a man that can appreciate that is worthwhile. Maxwell is my favorite mail artist If I ever met him I would go crazy and Ascension is one of my favorite songs from him because it just makes me feel really good inside. I have kind of an old song and I want this song to be played at my wedding. “I am changing” is a song from Dream Girls a play I did in high school where I was Effie and I really identified with the song because I believe in life you should always be constantly evolving as you get older you should aim to be wiser and a better you. Blessed and Highly Favored represents my spirituality I’m a Christian and my religion is very important to me without God I couldn’t have accomplished anything. The last song is called are you ready and its not in English because its a song that pays homage to my Haitian roots. They have to play this song at ll the parties because its energetic and fun like the Haitian culture.

Ashley Infante’s Playlist
There is never that one song that actually defines who you are or what you are going through. But the emotions that the song brings out is what everyone can relate to. If you are upset about something, you’ll listen to sad music, most likely break up songs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are upset over the a break up. Its just that you can relate the sadness evoked in the songs. The songs in my playlist are either loud, obnoxious, or fun. That’s what I can relate to in these songs because I can be loud or obnoxious or fun, that’s what describes who I am.

José-Junior Djebou
Hi my name is José-Junior. I mostly like all kind of music as long as there is a certain rhythm to it. The lyrics are also important. My favorite type of music is house music and electronic. For me listening to such music is way of “getting high” without drugs. Music helps me escape sometimes the reality of this world. Most songs that I picked aren’t really your typical hit songs(Adele, Coldplay…), therefore I can say that my playlist is pretty “wild”. http://grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Playlist+1/77379135

My playlist
Hi :)! My name is Ariel and this is my playlist. It’s pretty hard to think of songs that describe you and once you get started you finding new ones that describe you perfectly. I changed this playlist around 10 tums but I think I got it right. So the songs I’m not okay and it’s just me describe what it’s like being an outcast a joke or being seen as weird just for being you. These songs help me to know that I’m not alone in feeling this way. The songs SING and Raise your weapons are about standing up for a cause that you believe in an not backing down no matter what.My songs bY india arie describe coming to know yourself and accepting and loving yourself the way god made you as well as always being yourself. The song equinox first of the year relates to a extreme power and excitement I get fro
doing physical activities it keeps me excited even more so because I feel connected with it. House of cards talks about all the pressures getting to you when you don’t do the right thing or do them or do them the way they are supposed to be done. Finally streets of new York is a personal favorite. It describes so perfectly living in new York it addresses the dangers as well as the beauty and love in new York and what it’s like to be alone in the city. So that almost explains all of who I am.

It’s rather difficult to compress your whole entire being down to just ten songs. My original playlist was eighteen songs and it was quite a challenge removing the surplus. My taste in music is a little odd, I suppose. I like to listen to various types of music but I would most certainly not be the person that say “Yeah, I like everything but country” because the word “everything” is loaded. I like what I like and it’s as simple as that. These songs mean quite a lot to me. A lot of them were explicitly chosen because the lyrics are everything that I am and everything I hope to be. I often get teased for my taste in music because it is nowhere near consistent, but oh well. To each their own. If you like, then hey thanks that’s awesome, and if you don’t like oh well.

I usually don’t like to share my music, but for this assignment I will. I love music, I have a very artistic family so I grew up surrounded by many art forms. Its hard to put my choice of music into a single category or genre, mostly because I listen to songs from many different cultures. I love to listen songs from other cultures like France, Germany, India, Korea, Japan etc. I just love to learn languages. I guess I listen to songs based on my mood. I guess people would describe me as ‘cultured’? Its very hard to discern what people think of you.

10 songs aren’t really enough for me to be my “theme songs” so I put a little taste of what I like depending on my mood and what I’m doing. If I’m working out i like listening to metal, If i’m going for a drive to race my friends or waking up early in the morning to go for a reckless fast drive i listen to indie rock/rock and roll, if I’m out in the city with my friends I like playing some hip hop/rap. But when I’m feeling nostalgic about my past I love playing songs from the 1950’s/1960’s. so not 1 genre can’t describe me because my motto is if the song sounds good and makes me feel good then it’s a song I will listen to.

My playlist is a tad eclectic, much like my personality. I have different songs for different moods and most of my musical choices have lyrics that actually have meaning to them; except for the occasional songs that are just for leisurely listening. It was definitely hard to compress a playlist down to 10 songs, as there were so many that could accurately portray the kind of personality I have. It’s especially interesting to sift through the playlists of other people because you can get a good handle on the type of person someone is and how much you may or may not have in common with them. Music is definitely a uniting factor in many ways, it can help be an outlet for emotion, and can just express a happy mood. A world without music would be a world of silence.
