Ashley Infante- Baruch

I went to a pretty small high school. My graduating class alone was only 99 students. When I first went to high school, I thought that it was such a big school and such a big transition from my middle school where my graduating class was less than 50. But Baruch itself is bigger than my high school and an even bigger transition. At first I felt that Baruch was too big. That it had to many students, and that the work load for certain classes was just too much. I felt suffocated. It has been four months since I first felt this way. Now, I feel completely different. I feel like I have more freedom, more room to breath. Going to a small high school, everybody new everybody. It left no room for reevaluating and reinventing yourself. At Baruch, you are able to open yourself up and try new waters, and I’ve got to say that so far I’m liking it.

Ashley’s Blog-OUCH!

When I attended the OUCH! workshop I learned two things. One, almost anything can be offensive to anyone. And two, just because no one says they were offended doesn’t mean that whatever was said or done didn’t hurt them in some way. People have to be careful of what they say because almost anything can be hurtful. Just because something doesn’t offend you personally or even because it was just funny does not justify whatever was said or done. And just because people may laugh along with what you are saying does not mean that they actually agree with what you are saying. For all you know, one of those people laughing could have actually been very offended but laughed anyway because they didn’t want to be judged or alienated. No one should feel that they are going to be judged or that is ever alright to judge anyone, and people should make that known. It could be just one person, but as long as they say something to acknowledge that something is just off about a certain statement, then is making an impact already because it is making it known that judgement shouldn’t be tolerated and it also letting everyone else know that it is o.k to just say “OUCH.”

Ashley Infante’s Monologue

Fruit salads are the weirdest thing ever. Seriously, who in their right mind thought that a fruit salad was a good idea. Now, I’m not saying that fruit is gross or anything. I love fruit, but there are just some fruit that don’t go together. Take citrus fruit, like oranges. If the orange in your salad is too bitter it will completely through off the salad. And even if the orange isn’t bitter, there’s the whole dressing thing. Some people like lemon or honey or even condensed milk on their fruit salad. Not all fruit tastes good with all that stuff on top. Everything’s just going to taste weird. Or even bananas. Bananas dry out your mouth. Who in the hell wants a dry mouth? People don’t walk around with paper towels in their mouths to keep it dry, do they? No. So why in the hell would you want to eat bananas?

Then there’s the whole thing with the name. Why would you call it a salad? A salad consists of vegetables, like lettuce, with the exception of tomatoes, of course, and even then I don’t even like tomatoes.

For something so good for you, fruit salads are pretty damn complicated.

Ashley Infante’s Playlist

There is never that one song that actually defines who you are or what you are going through. But the emotions that the song brings out is what everyone can relate to. If you are upset about something, you’ll listen to sad music, most likely break up songs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are upset over the a break up. Its just that you can relate the sadness evoked in the songs. The songs in my playlist are either loud, obnoxious, or fun. That’s what I can relate to in these songs because I can be loud or obnoxious or fun, that’s what describes who I am.
