Hi, I’m Kerian Maharaj. To tell you the truth, I’m still figuring out who I am. It’s a work in progress. I’ll tell you what I do know about myself though. I consider myself to be a passionate individual, trying my best to keep my enthusiasm level high because I believe that is the foundation to success. I enjoying spending time with my friends and family because surrounding yourself with positivity enables motivation and drive. I like dancing, exploring, music, shopping, and simply just having a good time. I’m very friendly and understanding, trying to stay open minded to what our world has to offer.
Top 3 concerns for my freshman year at Baruch?
1. Maintaining a good GPA – Maintaining a good GPA is one of main concerns for the obvious reason that that is the point of being in college – maintaining a solid education level. At the end of the day, your GPA is a calculation of your academic success in a nutshell. That is why I want to be sure to uphold it to a notable standard.
2. Organizing and planning time well – I need to learn more organization skills and tactics because I do not want to put assignments to the last minute. I want to make sure I leave time to socialize and hang out with friends as well as getting some studying done. If I don’t plan my time accordingly it could be detrimental in both aspects and I really don’t want that!
3. Staying positive, trying not to get overwhelmed! – I’ve heard stories where exams and assignments can get way too intense and overwhelming, forming negative and harsh mindsets in students. I don’t want that all because it is so easy to fall into a negative way of thinking, especially when overwhelmed. I know maintaining positivity from the start can reduce the chance of that happening.
So far, I think the most substantial difference between high school and college is the maturity levels. I believe that will play a major role in how the two differentiate. In high school everything seems so minor and petty as opposed to college. In college you’re expected not only by professors but by peers as well to know how to handle yourself in mature and dignified manner. That to me sets the tone of how college life to be.
I’m hoping my first year of college will help me grow into a better me. I hope it makes me more intelligent, positive, compassionate, and understanding. I’m hoping my first year helps develop my potential more. My first year of college will be a new discovery and learning experience, self realization along the way.
Positivity is all you need! I dig it.
College is definitely a great experience. I’m only a Sophomore and I’ve already learned so much more about myself and my potential. There’s no doubt in my mind that you will too.
