Wilson’s Playlist

Music is a necessity in my life. I cannot go through one day without listening to my music. I believe the type of music you listen gives off a clue of what your personality is. I listen mainly to hip-hop/rap and k-pop.It was hard to chose ten songs but i just chose what was off my head.  This playlist I made gives you a sense of who I am; which is loose, funny, and calm. Well here is my playlist and a detail about the song I would like you to know!

G-Dragon- One of A Kind (a k-pop song that should be more popular instead of Gangnam Style…)

Big Bang- Bad Boy (more k-pop!)

Kanye West- I Wonder (Kanye was one of the first rappers I listened to when I grew up and this song stuck to me ever since)

Kid Cudi is my favorite artist and these three songs give you a feel of why I like him.

Kid Cudi- Dose of Dopeness

Kid Cudi- Man on the Moon

Kid Cudi- Ashin’ Kusher

Big Sean ft. Jay Z & Kanye West- Clique (theme song when hanging out with your good friends and getting crazy)

Big Sean ft. J. Cole- 24K of Gold (inspires me to go big and get what I want instead of eating and sleeping the whole day…hint hint, me)

Mac Miller- Senior Skip Day (this song motivates me to not go to class when i’m feeling lazy….)

Carly Rae Jepsen- Call Me Maybe (reminiscent of my after prom trip to Fire Island for  4-5 days)

Give my playlist a listen!

Wendy(Sha Ni) Wang’s pictures

The first picture is my mom and I . My mom is beautiful, intelligent and the best mom ever. My mom is always there for me no matter what and I love her so much.

The second picture is my older brother and I when we were little. He is two years older than me and we are really close.

The third picture is my high school-Benjamin N Cardozo High School. This is where I met a lot of new friends. My house is so close to my high school(1 min or 2) so now that I have to commute every day I feel extremely tired.

The fourth picture is a picture of some of my nail polishes and I don’t think that’s a lot for a girl. I always paint my nails because I feel weird when I don’t.

The fifth picture is a picture my best friend Michelle and I took when we were in middle school. We met in fourth grade, we went to different middle school and high school but we still hang out all the time. We have same interests and we understand each other so well.

The sixth picture is my cousin Sebrina and I. She is one month older than me and we took this picture when I went back to China this summer. We only see each other once a year but we talk almost everyday and about everything.

The seventh picture is Siwon Choi. He is a member of a South Korean idol group Super Junior. I really like him and I think he is perfect.

The eighth picture is zumba fitness-a video game you can play on ps3, wii or xbox360 and I think it is great. I started doing zumba around May and I still do it now when I have time because I am trying to lose weight.

Well, first off, I really hope this list to Grooveshark works. It is essentially a list of ten songs that I could listen to nonstop all day and not get annoyed or bored by it, or has some sort of relation into my own personal life. I tend to listen to a wide range of different genres but I’ll always resort to either dubstep or metal when I’m in the mood to just jam out. Rap, normal rock, and alternative are always fun, but in no way shape or form am I a fan of classical or country. It’s actually music that will probably get me through my years at Baruch to be honest. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t pop in my headphones on the way to and from school, while doing homework, and occasionally, while studying for something minor. I’m always willing to hear something new and I’m open for suggestions of songs as well as artists. I hope to succeed at Baruch as I get older and mature in these halls and classrooms with the friends I make here, including several from this very LC. Listed below are just ten of the songs I use to both clear my mind and completely escape into a realm where music is key:

ULTRAnumb – Blue Stahli

Circles – Digitalism

Dragon Roost Island – Ephixa

No Love – Eminem

Go With the Flow – Queens of the Stone Age

Verstrahlt – Marteria

Stay Captive – Still Remains

Still Speedin’ – Sway

Cinema – Skrillex

Carol of the Bells – August Burns Red

When I commute to Baruch everyday I travel on the train for an hour and the it takes me twenty minutes to walk from penn station to the school.  During this long trip everyday, I always have my headphones in my ears and listening to music.  Music is a very big part of my life and it lets me express my feelings and who I am.  I mostly listen to rap music.  My favorite artists are Wiz Khalifa and Wale.  I also like to listen to house music when i’m out partying with my friends.  Here is a discription of the songs I picked.

1. Clique- Kanye West ft Big Sean, Jay-Z : I picked this song because it has good lyrics and talks about how a group of friends is important.

2. 3 Kings- Rick Ross ft Dr.Dre, Jay-Z : This is a very good rap song that talks about how the top rappers in the game suceed with hard work.

3. The Race – Wiz Khalifa: I usually listen to Wiz Khalifa when Im chillen with my friends or just want to relax.

4. Put It on – Big L: This is a old school rap song. BigL was a good rapper but he was killed at a young age in the 1990’s.

5. All Birds – Rick Ross ft French Montana: This a song from two MMG rapers that has a very good beat to it. MMG is my favorite music label group.

6. Burn – Meek Mill ft Big Sean: This is a rap song that I will listen to at the gym or when i want to get pumped up.

7. Lotus Flower Bomb- Wale ft Miguel : This a slower rap song but it has very good lyrics in it that talk about love.

8. The Statement – Wiz Khalifa : This a song that I listen to when Im trying to relax and chilling with friends.

9. Don’t You Worry Child – Swedish House Mafia: This is the type of music to listen to when I am at parties.  It allows you to have fun and dance if you want.

10. Jump – D Soldierz: This is a house song that pumps me up and it is a song that I could enoy time with my friends.

Madelene Maningas’ pictures

Whether it’s the people in the pictures, or the places they were taken, each and every little thing about these pictures represent parts of my life that have made me who I am.

The first picture shows only some of my polaroids that I’ve taken in the past few months. I only use my polaroid camera for special occasions and rarely am I ever in the actual picture.

The second picture is my mom’s side of the family in the Philippines. I’ve only seen them once for a few weeks since I left back when I was three years old. Although they’re on the other side of the world, they’re my heart and soul.

The third picture is of me and my older brother when we were little. I know I shouldn’t have one, but he’s my favorite sibling. He’s always there when I need him.

The fourth picture is of part of my high school’s filipino club, of which I was the president my senior year. These kids made my senior year the best year of high school.

The fifth picture is of my french teacher Mrs. Yarkony. She was my french teacher throughout all four years of high school, but to me, she was much more than just a teacher. She has taught me life lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

The sixth picture is of New York, New York. This is the city in which my college is, and where I work. In so many ways it has shaped who I am.

The seventh picture is of marble fried vanilla ice cream in a bed of whipped cream. My friend and I made this during work at the Ellis Island Cafe one day, and my manager liked it so much that we ended up making over a hundred for a company event. It was a really great feeling knowing that a lot of people liked something that was only supposed to be a way to kill time.

The eighth and last picture is of my best friend James. He’s also my boyfriend, but he’s more important as my best friend. We’ve known each other since we were little and we’ve had great times as well as bad times, but just the fact that we have these times together means the world to me.

Stephen’s Playlist

I’m constantly listening to music. Whether its while I’m doing homework, studying, watching the game, or just relaxing. I listen to many genres including; rap, hip-hop, R&B, house music, dubstep and a little bit of everything else. Out of all those genres, hip-hop is my favorite. Unlike many people think, it’s different than rap. Hip-hop is about taking poetry, or meaningful lyrics and putting it to a beat, and adding a rhythm to the lyrics. Hip-hop is meant to connect with people more than rap is. Anyway, heres my playlist (some won’t publish to the spotify playlist because they are local files):

https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify:user:1220235224:playlist:3efVcBQDgAqwqdDBHhsVli

Feet Don’t Fail Me Now- B.O.B and T.I.  I chose this song because I’ve overcome just about every struggle that has come my way. My feet didn’t fail me.

Dream Chasin- Chiddy Bang.  This song applies to almost everybody. Everyone has a dream of what they want to be or do in the future, and every day leading up to that point they are chasing dreams.

Slippin- DMX.  This song describes me because in all honesty, I’ve made mistakes in my life, some big, some little, and have felt like there was no coming back from some of those mistakes.

Ambition- Wale. This song is perfect for me because it shows no matter what you go through in life, if you have strong ambition, nothing can stop you from achieving you’re dreams.

Michael Jordan- Kendrick Lamar. Everyone has that moment where they think they’re better than everyone else. I used to think that a lot, but then I realized that it wasn’t true, and everyone should be viewed as equals.

Battle Scars- Guy Sebastian & Lupe Fiasco. I chose this song because there are some rough patches in life that you never forget; everyone has their fair share.

So Original- Cyhi The Prynce. This song is on the playlist because I believe I’m different than most people, no two people are the same; everyone has their little quirks.

Slow Down- Chiddy Bang.

Celebrate- Common.

Slow Down and Celebrate, go hand in hand with eachother. Slow down says how you should take life slow and enjoy every moment that you have. Celebrate is about how you should celebrate whenever you get the chance, even for the smallest thing in life.

What If- Jadakiss & Nas. This is probably the most important song on this list. Everyone’s life is made up of “What If” moments like; “What if I took High School more seriously?”, “What if my future plans don’t pan out?”. You only find out the answer to these questions when you take the time when you’re older, and look back on your life.

Sonam Sewnauth’s 8 Images

Picture 1:  This an Om symbol which is very sacred to Hinduism. It is the universal sign of God and peace. As a Hindu, I look at this symbol for a strong sense of faith and personal guidance. I feel that is important to establish a connection with God.

Picture 2: This is a scene from a Bollywood movie. I’ve grown up watching Bollywood films and I’m intrigued by the overly dramatic acting and songs with synchronized dancing.

Picture 3: I love the idea of getting into shape while feeling like you are at a party, so Zumba is perfect for me. I’ve been doing Zumba throughout my high school years and have found it very helpful for staying in shape. I love the upbeat Latin music and enjoy learning new routines. It keeps me motivated to exercise.

Picture 4: This is a scene of someone doing yoga outdoors. I do yoga weekly because it makes me feel rejuvenated. I can clear my thoughts from a hard and stressful week with slow stretches and breathing exercises. When the weather is nice, I like to do yoga in my backyard because I feel connected to nature.

Picture 5: This is a picture of Rachel Ray, who is one of my role models. I love cooking in my spare time for my family. I enjoy trying recipes from different cultures to expose myself to new foods and flavors. I also watch the food network everyday to get new ideas.

Picture 6: This is a picture of a bridge in Budapest. I love traveling and admire looking at the aesthetics of architecture in certain time periods. I hope to travel to the world’s beautiful cities. I’ve only been to a few other states and Canada, so I really want to travel.

Picture 7: This is a very occupied financial analyst who is keeping track of the stocks. I hope to become a financial analyst one day because I think that America needs to have better financial planning in companies to ensure success and create a stable economy. I will work very hard in college for this.

Picture 8: This is a sketch of several fashion designs. I love keeping track of the latest fashion trends and watching shows such as America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway. I enjoy coordinating my outfits and believe that the way one dresses really shows who they are. I don’t like to look unkempt, but rather motivated and professional. I would also like to learn how to sew and possibly create my own clothes.

Nicole Segal’s playlist

http://grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Fropost1/-1

This is a playlist that I created on Grooveshark. Considering it was my first time using this website, I’m uncertain whether or not it will work. I’ve listed the songs and artists below, just in case.

I’m a commuter student from Brooklyn, and it takes approximately forty five minutes (on a good day) to arrive at Baruch. I found that time passes much quicker when I have my iPod with me. I also have a habit of listening to music when my homework and studying keeps me up throughout ungodly hours of the night (or morning in most instances). I have an incredibly wide variety of musical tastes, ranging from Indie, Alternative Rock, Classical, Rap/Hip-Hop, and in some (very rare) cases,  Pop/Mainstream. It was exceptionally difficult choosing merely ten songs to describe myself and my personality, so I chose the first ten that came to mind. I hope the Grooveshark link works!

Miss Misery- Elliot Smith

Walking The Dog- Fun.

The Man Who Sold The World- Nirvana

Life in a Glass House- Radiohead

I Won’t Give Up- Jason Mraz

All The Rowboats- Regina Spektor

What The Water Gave Me- Florence & The Machine

Super Rich Kids- Frank Ocean

Wildcat- Ratatat

Skinny Love- Bon Iver
