The “theme” that my group selected was nutrition in New York and nation wide. We selected it because its a very popular topic and nutrition is a big part of our lives. We need to be well nutrition to live and maintain a healthy life style. The articles we selected for the theme in that they were about food choices. and malnutrition. I think the malnutrition article was very important to put in. Not saying that the others weren’t but when talking about nutrition it is expected to tell about food choices. However when you bring in the idea of being severely malnutrition, people think more of what other lack since we don’t experience that kind of situation living in New York.
My individual role was to find the Bearcat article. I enjoyed this because I like this school. I also felt like it was important to inform people about other countries while informing about would Baruch does to inform others and how Baruch takes action to help the situation.
Honestly, it didn’t really help my understanding “news literacy”. I never really felt like I lacked those skilled because I read the newspaper. However for those that don’t, this would be a fun project along with helping their understanding of “news literacy”.
