FRO 2013: BRB

Hey my name’s Donny. Below you’ll find a link to a playlist that contains some of the songs that I listen to when I’m trying to unwind. I’m sure that music speaks to all of us and I would just like to briefly mention some of the songs on my playlist that speaks about who I am. The song “Ten Thousand Hours” by Macklemore is about this theory that Malcom Gladwell brought to light in his book Outliers. The theory is that if you spend ten thousand hours practicing something you will become an expert at that task by the end of that time. To me this means that if I can devote as much time as possible in doing what I love, whether it be sports or school, I will eventually be successful. This leads me to another song that I share a connection with which is “I Wonder” by Kanye West. I’m constantly imagining what my life would be like if I had a chance to do what I love for a living and making money while doing it. This song sums up what goes on in my head when I’m trying to picture my life in ten years when I can finally live out my dreams. The last song I want to talk about is “Roses” which is also another song from Kanye West. This song hits home for me because it talks about Kanye’s grandmother in the hospital. The relation to me is that my grandma has been in and out of the hospital for a few years before she finally passed and I never had the means or opportunity to give her flowers.
