Enrichment Workshop

The enrichment workshop our FRO class was taken to was a good experience for us. It was a way to see art we may have never come across in our daily lives. The Mishkin Gallery displayed the works of Theresa Bernstein, an artist I’ve never heard of before. The work of Bernstein was very interesting. She painted a lot of her own life into all the paintings. Like the painting of her and her husband and the one that included her father. Some of the paintings were bizarre like the one of the baby that looked too old to be a newborn. The style of her painting seemed to use very dark colors, except the one where she was holding the bird. Overall, the workshop was a good way for Baruch students to do something other than study and work.

First Semester at Baruch

meme-comic-college-classes This picture accurately describes my first semester at Baruch not just for each  class but every class as a whole. The beginning of the semester I was very eager to learn and engage in college life. I began getting less involve a little of the way in and eventually had a hard time staying awake. This semester was nothing like I imagined my first college semester would be. It felt like high school all over again; come to school, go home, then sleep. Nothing was fun or memorable about this semester. Now that its the end of the semester, I’m full of energy and ready to do well on my finals. Hopefully next semester brings a bit more excitement in my life

Affordable Care Act

The fact that this many people are uninsured is a bit shocking to me. The government has a responsibility to its people and a basic standard of living should be one of them. The government should do whatever it can to make sure everyone can be insured or at least have a decent living. People that are not able to do these things on their own should be assisted by the government. There should be programs that get people jobs to start them out in this process. I don’t believe these people should be handed things, but assistance should be the first step the government takes.

Kayla Allen- Slideshow

The 8 pictures I chose describe me because they are of the most the most important people in my life and quotes that fit my personality. I know this is supposed to be a post about myself but I don’t believe I would be anything without these people in my life. It first starts with my family because they are my core. They have shaped me to become the person I am today. Next, is my boyfriend who has been in my life for the past three years. He’s the only person I know that can put up with my various attitudes and mood swings. The next picture is of my cousins, however we are so close, I consider them more of the sisters I’ve never had. They’re there for me through good and bad, ups and downs. I know that whatever happens in my life I can always count on them to be there. The last picture with people other than myself are of my best friends. We’ve been friends since the 6th grade and not even the distance that college has put between us will tear us apart. I also put in pictures of myself as a baby and a recent photo of me at prom. Those pictures make me realize how far I’ve come, that I’ve made it this far and I can make it even further in life. The other two pictures are quotes that describe me. I’m usually a quiet person and during those times I am thinking, processing everything in front of me without commenting on them unless I know the whole story. The other quote means exactly what it states, I’m a very nice person but once my limit is reached, I’m very spiteful and feisty.
