This picture pretty much sums up my first semester. I always have work to do but sometimes I forget… on purpose.

On a more serious note, my first three months have been a whirlwind of emotions. I have never worked so hard in my life but it really paid off for me. I am excited to start the classes that I’ve chosen for next semester.

Enrichment Workshop Post

For the enrichment workshop we went to Baruch’s gallery that was exhibiting Theresa Bernstein’s artwork. Our guide explained how she usually depicts real life but sometimes she puts an abstract twist on things. Also, she uses a central light in most pieces to draw attention to that certain spot. I, personally, love art and I am also extremely fascinated with death. We saw that Bernstein used morbid symbols such as dark colors and the depiction of the grim reaper as response to her infant’s death. Moreover, i especially like the way that she subtly included herself in some of her works.

Millions of Poor Are Left Uncovered by Health Law

This number, 14 million, of Americans uninsured and living in poverty is astounding to me. I think the government does have an obligation to ensure that all Americans are properly insured to some extent. If the citizen can help himself then he should do so, but if he can’t then this is another story. However, the lines between eligibility can be blurred. This is why all cases must be analyzed even though this might take much more work. This is the only way that Americans in need can truly get help. They should get basic needs such as shelter and food to sustain them and/or their family. They should also receive help in putting together a resume or getting an interview because once they are able to get a job then they can start providing for themselves.

In this slide show you will see some pictures of people and places that have essentially made me who I am today. The first three pictures are of me and my best friends. They have been my best friends for many years and since the beginning they have taught me so much and have made me an overall better person. The fourth picture is of my dog, Taz who is the so beautiful and kind. The fifth photo is of one of my favorite bands, The XX, that I was lucky enough to see in concert. The sixth picture is of my favorite food in the entire world, SUSHI being eaten at my favorite place to go in my hometown of Miami.. the beach! The seventh picture is of my hands covered in paint. This symbolizes my love for art (specifically design and photography). I hope to be the creative director of a company someday. The eight photo is of my campers and me sitting on my bunk bed at sleep away camp. Being a counselor taught me a lot and prepared me to take care of myself and others. My sister is pictured in the ninth photo. She is the funniest, happiest person I know. Followed by my sister are my parents in the tenth. They have given me an amazing life and for that I will always be in debt to them.
