My Time In Baruch

college so far

This gif I created represents my experience at Baruch college thus far. The first three months going into a whole new setting that sets it apart from high school is the level of work and deadlines incorporated in different classes. There were some classes that had a lot work and times to study that felt like they so called “college experience”. Most time I spend my days studying or hanging out with friends. During the three months at Baruch college I have met a lot of new interesting people and some who have become my friends. There are times I felt in some of my classes I was in high school all over again. While in others I never it was all new to me from the class like Anthropology and learned a lot of interesting things.  At Baruch college there were many open windows of opportunities to enjoy your time from the Candy Crush event that gave free chocolate away to many types of clubs to join and to have fun. My Baruch experience was nice and I learned a lot of useful material that I can incorporate into my life.

In Baruch

This image or meme shows the true nature of students. We procrastinate a lot in whenever we have to do something. We get lazy to do anything. I have not procrastinated much yet in my first year in Baruch but I see that I have not done everything that fast when it comes to math. I have not had all the experience that I could gain from college but hope to continue so that I could learn more. What we believe to be the actual case isn’t the actual way I have seen everything. I was expecting these type of work because I had seen these type of work in high school AP classes. There are some classes which I didn’t like, not because of the professors but because of the curriculum that we are required to take. Some of these classes are not necessary for me. These are just there so that they fill up the classes. But they are not necessary for my major and not something that I like.

Doing the focus 2 assessment, it didn’t really teach me anything new. I knew what I want to be its just a matter of trying to figure out how to get there. The Focus 2 assessment helped clear up the goals that I should set for myself in order to accomplish what I want. Participating in the focus 2 assessment helped me figure out what goals I should set for myself in hopes of accomplishing them all before I graduate.

For the blog post, my group decided to choose technology as an inspiration to conduct our post. People refer to the class of 2017 as the ‘class of chronology’ because we grew up with the internet, computers and we are considered as the age group that knows technology very well. The articles that we chose explains how technology effects our actions and what we do. The social media article, violence in video games and easy ways to drink alcohol. All of these factors are affected by technology and the way we adapt to it which makes it that much more significant.

Ny Times Project

The New York times project was very educational. It gave me the opportunity to connect with my classmates as well as learn about the wars that are going on in the middle east. I am an American Jew so this war means a lot to who I am. I never really looked into it and now know a lot about what is going on in this war. I got to build relationships with those in my group and really enjoyed it. It is nice to make new friends and learn about who these people are and where they are from.

a. I have learned that the career that I had choose  matches my skills. However, some results surprised me a lot. I realized that I have more Social skills than Leadership. I will definitely rethink the field where I would like to work. I want to be an owner of a small company. I just did not chose the field yet.

b. I did not change my goals. I still want to become an owner of my company even if my social skills higher than entrepreneurship.

c. It helps me to understand that I need to work with people and that I could not just sit at the corner and be an accountant. I hope I will find what I really like!

a. After completing the survey, I learned that I am more of an artistic person. The result also said I’m a practical person and love working in groups. I think that it is partially true. It did little bit change thought about what I want to do in the future.

b. I always wanted to major something related to business, but in the survey; the results is something so opposite from business. I wanted to do business because I always thought that business will lead me to having a good job. However I realized that it is important to do something you like.

c. Focus 2 help me realize what I’m good at and what I’m bad at. I think it is important for me to truly find what I desire in the future and take a strong interest in something so that it will make it into my career.

a. Focus 2 helped me confirm my major choice which is finance and it clarified to me that I would actually fit in the said work environment. It also provided me with average annual income for my career which is a good think to know.
b. The assessment test for focus didn’t change my plan for major or my career. It simply helped me clarify to my self that i am on the right track towards future.
c. My scores in different areas required with in the job description were more than satisfactory that makes me feel more confident about my decision.

My group chose the theme of food and food festivals because we all love trying out new cuisines. Food festival articles in NYtimes provided a lot of information about different food festivals around New York City. It was really helpful because its hard to find a good place to try some new food.

My group chose to use Urban Wars as our topic. The concept of the Chemical weapon attack in Syria was mostly discussed because it happens to be the most recent form of war (Civil War).  Being students it is beyond necessary for us to engage in politics and worldly affairs. We’re are merely the future of politics and what better than to be able to involve ourselves and give people our opinions on the issues of everyday.
