My group’s theme was business but finance in deeper terms. Since we are Baruch students, I feel that this theme fits very well since most students are here for business. All the posts we did on the blog had connection to each other whether it was on wall street of financial troubles. The bearcat post was used to explain that we as Baruch students has a very great opportunity to use the trading center just like a mini wall street. We should be all be up to date of financial articles because it is very important either for your job or everyday life. All the articles we used talked about the economy we are in right now and opportunities we can handle our finances correctly. It was a great way to connect our future careers to this nytimes project.

Since our theme was “Travel and Exploration”, I have decided to go with a little bit of restaurant and bar/diner review. I was thinking that “exploration” branch into finding places with great eats so I went with a burger joint and a Japanese Shochu bar. Regretfully, I should have chosen places outside of the U.S. to fit more into the travel theme. After reviewing this project, I figure I am missing out on a lot of great food and the culture that follow behind each of them. I going to need to explore more up and down the block since there might be a fabulous diner hidden and worth trying out. When I was done with this project, I find myself watching Indian food reviews on YouTube. Although in some part of their culture, they focus on using hands to eat their food, their curry look delicious and I may someday go there to try some freshly made curry but first, I need to get some money to buy the plane ticket. :+D

My group chose the theme “Travel and Exploration” for our New York Times front page project. In our front page, we included 6 articles about traveling to different cities, attractions, sights and exploring some great food in NYC along with the separate Bearcat post. We thought it would be a fun experience to read these articles and present them to our classmates. I personally chose abalone hunting and ghost hunting articles, because they’re both challenging and intensive like my first semester at Baruch. Of course I don’t go ghost hunting in school, but I walk around the school on my spare time expecting to discover something or somewhere new and interesting. Like abalone and ghost hunting, going with a group is better than going alone, because group mates can help each other out. I’m glad that I started with a blocked schedule, so I can explore the school with a bunch of people who, I believe, have the same interest.

Sports Make the World Go Round

For the NYTimes Project, our group decided to chose the topic on sports. Sports may not be an issue or concern to our first semester at Baruch, but sports is important. Around the world, many people are often obese or overweight and one of the most important way to become a health weight is by doing sports. Playing basketball, swimming, and other sports can help us exercise to keep our body healthy. Those who don’t may have more illnesses like the flu… I believe that if everyone were to participate in a sport to keep our body moving and improving blood circulation, I think that everyone would be a lot healthier.

Besides healthiness, sports can help relieve stress. With midterms and finals, students at Baruch often become quite stressed, staying in the library overnight to study or doing homework until three in the morning. By occasionally playing sports like volleyball, handball, swimming, etc., I think just by having fun with friends, we can all relieve some stress. During my first semester at Baruch, the homework professors gave were more than I usually had in high school, so adjusting to the time I spend doing homework at night would be stressful sometimes. During club hours, I can always play sports or just simply take a walk around the blocks around campus can help relieve the stress I feel.

The “Bearcat” article is not related to our topic of sports, but I feel that Human Trafficking is an important concern to Baruch students and others everywhere. Everyday while I travel from Baruch to my home (or vice versa), I always become worried about being attacked by some stranger or something along those lines… Because I always read articles and hear about people steal phones and stabbing those who refuse, I get weary about myself going home on the subway or walking home late at night with no one… A bigger issue would be human trafficking because young children and adults are always being snatched right from their lives and are sold into the world of human trafficking. Since those people would rather prey on younger adults than old people, I think that we are more exposed to the risk of being trafficked.

Welcome to my blog post. My name is Jakob Yusupov and I am 17 years old. I live in Forest Hills, and I attended Queens Highschool for the Sciences. I live with both my parents, as well as 2 younger brothers named Mark and Michael, and an adorable little orange cat named Simon. I intend on majoring in Political Science, and pursing a Law Degree after Baruch College. Some of my hobbies include swimming and boxing, as well as snowboarding in the Winter. I was on the swim team in high-school, and I am currently on the Baruch Swim Team. Over the Summer, I am a NYC Lifeguard at Rockaway beach. It has been my job for 2 years and hopefully many more.

The songs i picked reflect who I am because they are no single genre, nor am I. Whether its the instrumental songs of the Beatles, or the electronic bass of Zeds Dead, I am someone that exhibits very different characteristics in different situations. I believe that life is short, and with that being said, we must treasure every moment of it. We should try new things, face our fears, and tell our loved ones how much they mean to us. Life is random, and you never know what the next day has in store. I am very ambitious, and strive to make my limited time on this planet eventful.

Music has never been a big part of my life, but no one can say that they do not enjoy listening to their favorite songs and artists. My playlist hopefully tells you something about me, and my beliefs. we may have something in common, but no one will love every song on the list, and that is what makes us all so unique, different, and most importantly, a pleasure to learn about.
