The Workshop was interesting to say the least. I didn’t like the video, but I do like the idea of meditation for at leat 3 minutes at the beginning of the day. Meditation has always been said to be a great tool for focus, serenity, and tranquility. Although, I don’t necessarily believe that those kids in Staten Island were able to reap the full benefits of meditation, I do think that it would benefit many students if implemented correctly.
All that withstanding, I still thought the workshop was boring, and was annoyed to have to waste my break watching a video and listen to a woman drone on about her program. Maybe If I only had to stay for a little while the I would have been more satisfied with the experience, but alas no. While I was trying to relax and enjoy the movie there was a lot going on and watching a movie about other people learning to focus does not make you want to focus at all.
The worshop for me was sort of like this first semester of college, where I was annoyed distracted and just wanted to go back home. It’s like watching people do something that you cant do because youre paying attention or trying to. Having to participate in the workshop and experiencing this semester all reminded me of one thing : High School Never Ends
