Kaitlyn Zeng’s third blogpost

This GIF shows exactly what I do when I get home. Ever since I started college, I have not been getting enough sleep. Back in high school, I do everything last minute but I can still manage to get the work done. Now in college, I realize I cannot do that anymore. A lot of the work has to be done in a great amount of time and put in a great amount of effort. I notice that my time management skill is very terrible. Because I finish my work late at night, I don’t get enough sleep. Because I don’t receive enough rest the night before, I become very tired the next day and when I get home, I go take a nap. Taking a nap for me is at least three hours wasted and I would finish my work late again. The pattern repeats daily and it’s becoming a habit which causes me to get rid of it harder. Sleeping is not a problem for me; I can fall asleep right away when I get home to my bed. I know this is a bad habit and I can tell from the results of my test grades. On the days when there are tests, essays, or speech, I only have a few hours of sleep and I perform poorly. I should stop procrastinating and set a goal to get at least seven hours of sleep everyday.

My favorite memory in Freshman Seminar class is when we had to write down the difficulties of the classes and what we didn’t like about it. We divided into groups and each of the group was in charge of noting down the difficulties of one class that we all have. The things people wrote down for every class was very true. During the process, I find it funny sometimes and I was glad to find out that I was not the only one that have those opinions on the classes. In the end, the advices we gave to each other and the tips on getting a better grade in class was very helpful. I know now the different tactics I can use to perform better in class.

Next semester, I predict that the classes will be a lot more harder to pass than now. I hope that my procrastination will stop and I can develop a better study habit. Maybe by next semester, I have already master my time managing skill. I can finish my work earlier and enjoy more sleeping time at night. I should set a goal for myself to get at least seven hours of rest each night and do not work on essays or study last minute. Hopefully, I can maintain my average and never fail a course. I never want to retake any class and have a F grade on my transcript. I just wish to pass every class and get into the business school of Zicklin. Other than doing well academically, I also wish to be more active in extracurricular activities such as clubs and maybe in Team Baruch.

Kaitlyn Zeng Monologue

Everyone says that college is very hard
Back then, I just want to finish high school and move on
Didn’t expect college to be too stressful
But now, I don’t even know which major to choose upon

I have always wanted to do accounting
But is that what I really want?
I kept asking myself that same question
The answer is I don’t know but I’m only a freshman

Let’s not think too far ahead
I should concentrate on right now
This semester is almost ending
We have to pick classes for next year, but how?

It’s impossible to make a perfect schedule
Times for the classes are all over the place so I better be careful
My friends had already made back-up plan
But I only just began

Required core, flexible core
And 10 more pre-business classes
With major and minor courses
I will be stuck in school for ages

You also need 150 credits for accounting
How will I even have time for breathing?
I should also get that CPA
Alongside with that BBA

It’s scary to think about all that work
What if I still do bad with all my effort?
There is a long road ahead of me
And what lies in the future seems very blurry

But I realize that there is no use worrying
I should just try to do well in every class
Even if nothing turns out right
I should stay strong like crystal glass

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, some people call me Kaiying, which is my Chinese name. I came from Guangzhou, China which is an urban city next to Hong Kong. The first picture displays my family whom I’m living with right now. My mom is standing next to me, my aunt is sitting in front of me along with my younger cousin. We spend a lot of time together going to restaurants, barbeque with friends, and shopping in malls. They define who I am because I spend so many time with them and they are the most important people in the world to me.

The second picture is my graduation photo with my best friends. I have known them for 7 years since middle school. We are always hanging out together and have the same classes until this year in college. Because of them, I learned more jokes and sarcasm but also picked up more insults. They’re the best memories I got in school and outside.

The third picture represents the neighborhood I’ve been living in for 10 years. It’s not a very rich neighborhood but it’s not too bad. It’s very convenient and I know most of the places in this neighborhood. I love the food they have here.

Next, I have a photo that represents my addiction to Korean music. I don’t just like k-pop, I also like their ballad songs and their culture. Korean culture has a big influence on me because I’m always eating their food and listening to their music.

After, I have a picture that shows my hometown. It’s a park in Guangzhou, China. I used to ride those colorful boats in the lake and play around in the park. My hometown contains a lot of my childhood memories.

The sixth picture symbolizes the many interests I have. I like a lot of things such as swimming, playing the guitar, yoga, and writing stories., but the problem is I don’t continue my interests for very long. I also tried making videos and very recently tried archery. I want to learn a lot of things too such as a new language and playing the piano. However, I’m very lazy so for change, I hope I will master at least one of the things mentioned.

The next picture indicates me wanting to travel the world. I’ve been to several places like Malaysia and Canada, but I haven’t been to places I dream of going yet. I wish one day I can travel to all of these places.

Finally, the cat watching t.v. shows how much I love watching shows and movies. I used to only watch Asian dramas but now I got really into American shows as well. Some of my favorites are The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and Walking Dead.
