The meme above portrays the start of my first year of college. As I have mentioned in my earlier monologues, it was a completely new experience for me entering college. I came into my classes with my high school mentality. I felt that I wouldn’t need to work that hard. I felt that I can blow by exams, homework, and projects just as I did in high school. I also believed that professors would work at students pace. However, I was completely wrong. College was a bit off my expectations. It was twice as hard as what I thought it would be. Professors would not wait for anyone. Especially in my sociology class, topics were fast paced and there was no room for slacking.

My first three months at Baruch had been quite a ride. I wasn’t really meeting my expectations in most of my classes. I came in thinking I was getting an A in most classes and probably a B in a few. Again, I was totally wrong. I’m struggling to maintain B’s in most classes and my only chances of an A is in my Calculus class which is slowly fading sadly. Exams hit me harder than this week’s weather. The first couple of exams made me realize that I really need to step up my game for the rest of the semester. I also had witnessed one of my fellow classmates being “tricked” really hard by a professor. The professor had told the student that he had done “very well” on the last exam. Not just well but “VERY WELL.” So this student was quite happy and had no worries in his mind. When the results of the tests were up, the student saw that he scored really low. This un-named student just didn’t believe that he did that bad, therefore, he had put in much effort in disputing his grade with the professor. The student even believed that the professor switched his grade with another student’s grade. In the end, when he got his actual test back, this student not only realized that he did indeed receive the low grade, but also that he needed to step it up. The main point is that, you should always study and be prepared for exams so you don’t have to worry about how you did. Knowing that you put in the effort and time, your test grades will look much better.

Although, I had bumpy rides along the way of my first semester, I had a lot of fun. I made very close friends that I spend time with in and out of Baruch. We hang out and also set time to study and do homework. I found my niche here at Baruch and am getting quite used to it. Hopefully my grades smoothen up so I can feel accomplished at the end of the semester.

MD Uddin Monologue

As I move further into my life, I begin to realize that everything has become tougher. Entering college, made me realize that I need to take things more seriously. Its not fun and games anymore like in high school. No one said college would be easy either. Not only did I have to take on a new lifestyle, I had to adjust to it and continue with it for my next four years. One of the biggest challenges I’m facing right now in college is managing my time. I don’t think I have managed my time effectively as yet. Juggling school, work, and a social life has been difficult to say the least. Most days I go to work right after school and end up coming home really late. I then have to end up sleeping really late to finish homework and study. This leaves me no time for any social activities during the week. If I can build a manageable schedule that allows me to have breathing room in between times, I can get through my semester a bit easier.  As I move further in my semester, the challenges only seem to get more overwhelming. Although I have these hardships, I still enjoy my time at Baruch college. I have actually found my niche in the school and finally feel that Baruch is my home. I have made some good friends that not only work with me in school but also enjoy time with outside of school. I will work my way to get a 3.8 GPA and above, continue playing basketball every week, and spending time with my friends. Throughout my years at Baruch, I want to continue growing and developing skills that will help me in my career and life. Whatever challenges Baruch may bring, it can be enjoyable or a living hell depending on how I manage my time.

Starting college is a completely new experience for most of us in this FRO class. Since the first day of school, I knew that Baruch will bring upon many challenges. No one said it was going to be easy either, so I took on a different role entering college. I began to drop my old high school habits of slacking. I’m getting closer and closer to my future career and have to start and finish college strong.
Attached here are several pictures that give some insight about myself. The first picture is the location in which I live at. Ozone Park has been my home for 18 years and I cherish every part of my experience here. I have grown, matured, and evolved as a person while growing up in Ozone Park. I found my niche here with friends and family. The second picture includes the college that I attend and my new home for the next four years. I have enjoyed the start of Baruch and look forward to completing my adventure here.
The third picture attached includes one of my main cravings. Shake Shack burgers are by far the best burgers. I need to have one of those burgers every week. The fourth picture includes my close and best friends. I have gone through high school with these guys and have enjoyed every second of it. Our hangouts are incredibly fun and I’m looking forward to my next meet up with these guys. The fifth picture signifies one of the special moments in my life. The day of graduation was amazing and I will never forget it. It was the day I had to finally call an end to my amazing high school experience.
Yes, I am a basketball fanatic. The sixth picture is about my love for the game of basketball. After coming to Baruch I have been playing non stop basketball. You guys can ask Michael in our class how much I been balling last week. You guys can also ask him about his ankles… just kidding. The next picture signifies one of the most important person in my life. My girlfriend is an amazing motivator who keeps me going and is also the most fun person ever.
The final picture is my future career path. I want to follow the path of accounting because I have a strong background of it which I have enjoyed. With my friends and family motivating me, nothing stops me from being what I want. So I would like to conclude this blog by saying couple of things. You should always work hard and play hard. Also, never forget those who helped you reach where you are. If you keep striving, you will succeed.
