This semester at Baruch has had its ups and downs. I had some good moments and some bad. I have met many people in my block that I will cherish and hope to see often in the next four years. Some moments from this semester has made me rethink my actions and how I should change how I usually do things. As the semester comes to an end, it feels as if I haven’t done much. Hopefully next semester in new classes, I can work harder, be more active and outgoing. I’m looking forward to taking a business and a law class and being able to meet new people at such a diverse college next semester. Being at Baruch for almost a semester has made me realize that the people at Baruch are really friendly and are really willing to help you. I learned that I’m lazy and I only work hard when I need to, so I want to change that. Next semester I want to be work to the best of abilities and put schoolwork ahead of everything else.
My favorite memory of FRO was when we were talking about the classes we were taking and what we didn’t like about each class. I liked how we were talking about the little problems about some classes we were in and how others were giving suggestions on how we can fix those little problems. It was a fun class that day and that made class feel really short that day. I also liked how Randy put us into groups, because it gave us a chance to talk to others in our block if we haven’t gotten the chance to during our other classes. It was fun how we discusses our classes and laughed about what we wrote because we could all relate to it, because we were in those classes together.
I chose this meme because as I started college I thought that there wasn’t going to be a big difference compared to high school. One month into the semester, I realized that it was completely different. Everything felt so fast paced and I just felt like I couldn’t keep up with it. I realized I had to learn to adjust and get my act together. I then knew not everything could be fun and games and that I had to learn to be more serious about things and work to the best of my abilities. Now that the end of the semester is coming closer, I felt that one semester goes by very quickly and that when the next semester starts I shouldn’t be so lazy and do things ahead of time and make time to be able to do things I like. This meme shows that college might not be fun, but I think it can be fun if you just learn how to balance school and activities you want to do in your free time. College is what you make of it, if we work to the best of our abilities I believe that I can achieve good grades and have a fun social life.

Debbie Banh’s Monologue
Transitioning from high school to college caused a shift in my life. In the past, I walked ten minutes to school, now it can take me up to two hours just to get to Baruch. This switch in commute requires me to wake up at five or six in the morning to begin the ride to Baruch. A long commute has made me learn that I have to focus a lot of time management. Since most of my day consists of my commute, with the time I have left I try to do all my homework as soon as possible. In college, we use a syllabus for each class. This can help me plan ahead for papers or tests. Along with handling homework and tests we have gained the responsibility of registering and choosing classes. Having a variety of classes, we are able to take classes that are required and different classes that may interest us. I have also found the diversity of clubs we have in Baruch that we can join so we can do things in our free time that we may enjoy. For me, joining a clubs can help me make more friends and meet new people that can help me out in different ways. Making the switch between high school and college was a big step, but being in college brings me a step closer to getting to know who I am as a person and can also assist me in becoming a responsible adult.

My name is Debbie Banh, I was born in Long Island and raised in Bayside, New York. The first picture is most important it shows a picture of family. My family are the most important to me. Next, are my friends; friends are people that can shape who you are. I am usually a very shy person and it’s really hard for me to make new friends but once you get to know me I’m really a nice person. Music is next, to me music is a way to try new things. By listening to different types of music you can find out your likes and dislike and its a way to help me relax. The next picture is Baruch, I put this picture because this place is where I’m going to find the real me and mature to become a better person. Benjamin N. Cardozo high school is where i graduated, that place made me who I am now so I can mature in Baruch. Saigon, Vietnam is what you see in the next picture, that’s where my family is from. This place represents who I am because it’s where my relatives still live and I love this place every time I go and visit. Bell Park Gardens where I was raised and the neighborhood I went to school from elementary to high school. This is the neighborhood I remember most from my childhood and where I would want my kids to grow up, so it represents me when I was a little kid. The last picture is food, Chinese food to be precise. Chinese and Vietnamese food represents who I am because it is what I grew up eating and it is what I am used to eating so I felt that what I eat shows who I am to others. While watching the slideshow you will also be listening to Michael Buble’s song Home. I chose this song because I felt that this song represents what is most important to me and that home is what made me who I am today. Home is where I feel most safe and assured, home and family are what influence me the most and it is what created me and my how I think.
