The link above is to the meme that describes my experience here at Baruch. Its been an interesting couple of months here at Baruch filled with its ups and downs. Its been super hard to manage good grades, actually getting enough sleep, and a social life. But throughout these three months I’ve learned more than I thought I ever could. An important thing I learned was that I need to manage my time better because in college there’s constant due dates for assignments around the corner. Time management is so important because when I do things rushed then I feel extremely stressed out and frustrated and thats something I try to avoid. Whenever I manage my time wisely I think the quality of my work turns out much better than it would’ve if I had procrastinated. Unfortunately, I know that its inevitable that I will procrastinate once in a while but I think since having started Baruch I’ll be doing that much less than I did before.

I have truly enjoyed all of our freshman seminar classes and found them very useful. My favorite freshman seminar class would probably be the first one on Convocation day. This day feels like it was just yesterday and yet here we are, almost at the end of this class. None of us really knew each other and the exercise we did to find out some facts about another student was really fun. It was also interesting to hear these facts about everyone in our class so that we could kind of get to know each other a bit better. Although I’m excited to meet new people, I will honestly really miss this block and I’m happy we got to experience our first semester at Baruch together.

I’m really looking forward to my next semester here. I’m excited to take classes that I actually got to choose as oppose to this semester where I didn’t have much of a say in class choice. Although I didn’t get the exact classes I was hoping for, (registration was one of the most stressful parts of the year) I still got pretty decent professors and class times. And even though I’ll have to come to school 5 days a week, I get to start pretty late, so I’m happy I’ll get to sleep in almost every day! I’m also excited to get a fresh start in these new classes and hopefully do even better than this semester. Baruch has been a great experience thus far.

College, it can be a huge transition for anyone. I thought that staying home for college would make that transition easier and yeah maybe it has, but nevertheless it’s still been a difficult journey. I feel like there’s so much more pressure to succeed and do well in classes, which is something, I honestly didn’t feel throughout high school. It’s a big fear of mine that I’ll fail and wont live up to my parent’s expectations or mine. They’ve been pushing me to do business for as long as I could remember and I’ve just kind of went with it. Business seems like a good and reasonable field of study I thought but is it really something I want to pursue for the rest of my life? Deciding to go to Baruch was a big step in the business direction. I’m excited for next semester so I could finally take business oriented classes and figure out if its something I really like or not. Baruch has many different options that don’t have to do with business, like Political Science and Chemistry, which I’m pretty interested in. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up going into one of those fields. As for now, I’m just going to try and manage my time well and do my best in the classes that I’m in now.

For my slideshow, the pictures I decided to insert depict who I am as a person and show my journey throughout my life. Starting with the first picture, here I am about 6 years old. Even when I was younger I would always be smiling and laughing. This is also true to this day. You will always see me with a smile on my face. The second picture is of me and my parents; I chose this picture because I owe my life to them. I am so grateful for the choice they made to move to America and give me the life I have now. The third picture is of the Ukrainian flag. I am very proud of my background and heritage. The fourth picture is of my neighborhood, Manhattan Beach. Its the most southern part of Brooklyn and I’v lived there since I was two years old. So basically I’v lived here my entire life. It’s a very secluded and quiet neighborhood but I still love it nevertheless. I can’t imagine living anywhere besides on the beach.
For the fifth photo I chose a picture that showed music. Music has always been a big part of my life. In my free time you will always catch me with headphones in my ears. I enjoy a wide variety of different types of music which ranges from classical to hip-hop. For number 6, I chose a picture I took of Ulster Heights Lake which is in upstate (it actually doesn’t have a filter). I’v gone here every single summer since I was 7. Although I enjoy life in the city, I have always allocated at minimum one month of each year to the engulfing serenity of upstate. There is no place I’d rather be than sitting in front of a blazing campfire surrounded by good friends. For picture number 7, I chose a moment from my senior year of high school. This was my schools “Murrow Bowl”. My friends and I created our own team and it was a very enjoyable day. I have always been the type of person who loves teamwork and working in groups and that day was no exception.
Finally for the last photo I chose a picture of Baruch. Although all the pictures show my past and who I am, this one shows my future and who I will be. I’m very excited for the next four years of life and what they will bring. I am very eager to learn and chose a career path that I will be happy with.
