So we have entered the jungle which is known as “college”. It is still a couple weeks in and I still don’t know what to expect. It is a major transition from high-school to college. In high-school we had teachers and principles watching over us, making sure our work is done, and making sure we show up to class. However, in college you have that freedom to do whatever you want; if you want to study or party, the choice is yours. Yes, you might be waisting your parents’ or your own tuition money, but you can do whatever it is you want.

Baruch is New York City, one of the greatest city’s in the world. There is simply “nothing you can’t do” in New York. Everyone has dreams they can accomplish, but they must put in the time, effort, and risk. Ludacris says “I blow some smoke just to give my lungs a test, so why tip toe through life, to arrive safely to death?” This line helps motivate me to take the risks to get things done and also to enjoy my life. No one wants to live a life not worth living.

When anyone is born, they are nothing. You can’t walk, talk, or really do anything, besides eat, shit, and cry. So when you see someone who made it, they most likely deserve to be where they are at. Theirs a question that Maino asks in his song asking what do you think when you look at him? He then says how he deserves to be rich, because he came from nothing and now he’s living his dream. That can be any of us, but we just have to keep on believing, keep on working, and keep doing whatever you think is right.

College leads to many roads and hopefully the road you’re in is paved in gold with clear skies in view. We all want to achieve what we are truly capable of and be inducted into our own hall of fame. Music can be a big motivator to some people and these are some of the songs that help motivate me to be the person I want to be.

  1. Hi Albert,

I like how you tied each song to life and taking risk. I wish you had talked a little more about yourself.

    Best,
    Shanima
