My first three months in Baruch has been a good and fun experience. I came across a lot of things since the beginning of college. Such as, making new friends, use of college resources, and etc. Out of all, one of the most funnest, educational, learning, and interesting class that I came about so far is my Freshman Seminar class. To start up, when I first knew I had to take Freshman Seminar class because it was required I wasn’t happy about it. I knew that we are not getting any credit for taking this class and I thought this class is going to be boring, and long but I was wrong. Honestly, Freshman Seminar class has taught me a lot of things that I did not know before. It taught me new experiences, how to be successful in real world, how to communicate, how to build relationships, strong leadership, how to do good in classes, how to make friends, how to respect others, how to use the resources offered by Baruch and many other things. For example, as a Freshman I did not know a lot of things in Baruch. But, Freshman Seminar class has showed how to use it and where I can go to take full benefit of it. Such as, information about the library, clubs, various offices, and etc. Furthermore, I think this goes for other Freshmen students too. I am pretty sure that a freshman student did not know everything about Baruch. As a result, they learned something in their Freshman Seminar class that helped them out somehow later on. After all, I want to give a special thanks to my professor Dr. Harper and my peer mentor Pratima. I gained many new experiences, and learned many new things. So, Freshman Seminar was one of the most interesting and educational class that I came about so far in Baruch because after all I learned a lot and it gave me the opportunity to open myself to Baruch.

I am pretty confident that most, if not all, the students can relate to this gif. It is accurate, at least during my time so far in Baruch.
I know that every single student, at some point, has been to a class that is so boring that you either have to fall asleep or find something interesting to do.
Most of us would decide to go with electronics, because the class that are boring generally allows them anyways.
The one that falls asleep will wake up to their electronics regardless.
I’m the same, in that I am one of those students that either sleeps or keeps their eyes on their smartphones.
We all have the urge to go on the social media to keep refreshing for new status updates and new posts. We all love to just surf the web for random picture and watch videos of cute cats and dogs (reddit.com/r/aww, anyone?)
That is generally when you feel you learned nothing in class. We keep taking our education for granted. We feel that there are better place to be, or better things to do during the time that we are wasting sitting in the class looking at our phones. But I would bet, not literally of course, that most of us would keep our phone out regardless.
Our sociology professor, for example, can be boring with all that pause and uncertainly when he talks. Everyone is on staring at their laptop and tablet , texting on smartphone or taking a nap. No body replies to the professor and that creates an awkward silence every time. then somebody just has to raise their hand to speak up and hope they would match the topic and make sense.
I understand this doesn’t apply just to Baruch lectures, but to all classes from middle to university. but we might want to control our urge to get distracted by our phones and tablets just sometimes… you know, just to get some of that addiction off.

My 3 months of college life is pretty good so far. I just started to live in Astoria by myself, and i feel like i have way more freedom.
Since i have more freedom, its true that i need to take more responsibilities, but its been fun experience so far.
I thought college life is something very different from high school life, but it wasn’t. I personally think that college is somewhat like high school.
Getting all the works done by the time, classes, and almost everything is pretty similar to high school life.
Also the other impression that i had was it is pretty easy to procrastinate. I don’t know why but ever since i started to live by myself, rather than focusing in school
i tend to hang out with my friends more. I often invite them to my house and just hang out. It’s a result from too much freedom that i got.
Even I lost some of my focus in school , i’m enjoying my college life

Time flies like an arrow, it seems like a lot of things just happened yesterday. From a high school student to a college student, from worried about college life to got used to it, or from the first day we met in college to almost the end of the semester, these processes have given us a lot of great impression marked in our mind; we call them memories. And now, let’s throw back to the first day of school at Baruch College.
After taking an hour of train, I finally arrived in front of VC building of Baruch College. Standing in front of the school building, I just feel like I was still not ready for college. But time has to go on. I took out college ID and swiped into the campus; this symbolized that my college life very began and then we met in a classroom. Even though, this college campus is a little bit different as I expected because I used to think college campus is usually contained with some places like parks instead of only buildings. After a little bit introductions of our professors, we started with some ice breaker games. Basically, the purpose of these games was to make every one of us knowing each other. To me, these games were extremely hard because I am really bad with memorizing. For example, there was a game I don’t know what it is called; but the rule of the game was to give out a characteristic word by using the first letter of our name. I could never forget how terrible I did on this; I don’t know if you guys still remember it, awesome Amy became awful Amy in my turn. Because this was just the convocation day, we didn’t actually have class on that day.
The next day, the first day of class actually started. I took the same train and went the same route to my new College. But this day was so much more different than the day before because this was the day everyone started their school. The whole campus filled with people. I saw people rushing to their class by keep pressing the close button, and a lot of people were waiting in front of those expressed lift. After that, I had my first class of college, just still feeling great about it in the beginning. During break time, I went to library. There were people everywhere in the library and people were working so hard with stuffs.
After several days, we got books for every class. Professors started assigned us homework. I finally know what college is in this moment. A bunch of reading and writing assignments were given out in the same time, it feels like it was impossible to finish in this limited time. Although there was a lot of homework, I don’t why I could always finish them on time. Day by day, I have got used to this kind of life and I enjoy it a lot also.
Time really goes too fast. It is too fast to throw back and the semester is ready to end. No matter what, a lot of memories have stored inside of our heart. Also, I am falling in love with this college. No doubt, i am really having fun in this school and I am very proud of this school.

The time wake up in the morning right now.

Books? Yesssssssss! Writing assignments? Nooooooooo! As you can see, I get a lot of reading and writing assignments in these three months. I personally hate writing, because I have to make up evidence or fact that can satisfy the requirements of writing assignments. And it takes me a ton of time. But i love doing the reading assignment because it makes me know more about different materials and others’ point of view. In general, college shapes me into a knowledgeable person and it helps me to get success in future. So, thank you, Baruch College, and thank you, Freshman Seminar. Having great time in classes!

The first three months of college experiences made my life more meaningful. It was actually not bad after all. Time was more fluent compare to that of high school. I liked the way how college plans my schedule because I am not getting the same classes every day like I did in high school. More importantly, I am off on Fridays! The best part I liked about my college life so far is I am getting the chance to meet more people by joining club or having lunch together. Every day, I have a 2 hours break during my lunch time. Sometimes, I will go to the library and trying to do some work but barely finish any of them. Other times, I will just stay at the cafeteria and play poker with my friends, it is so fun!
Well, there is also few negatives about college too. The workloads are far more than I used to have in high school and deadlines really matters a lot. There is a lot of readings should be taken care of, but I just cannot finish all of them. Although midterms already passed, the finals are there waiting me.
I don’t know what grade I will end up with, but one thing I know for sure is that I must go on. I still have a lot to accomplish in order to be successful. However, life is not only about works, it is more of building relationships with other people end enjoy your everyday life. Tomorrow will be better. Be smart, and be happy!

It’s already three months past. Remember my first day at Baruch, I was quite tired but excited about college life. I was expecting to make new friends and to find out what I want to be in the future. So far, I still haven’t made up my mind about what specific career I should pursue, but I think I have a rough idea that I want to go into the business field. In the past three months, I experienced many new things such as seeing a Broadway show WICKED for the first time. Even though, the reason I went to se Broadway, in the first place, was just to finish an assignment form Theatre class, I was really amazed by the energy and musicals of Broadway and absolutely enjoyed the show. More importantly, I actually learned some useful new skills in the past 3 months at Baruch. For example, I learned some basic photoshops in order to do a group project. I photoshopped the picture above which is the cover poster of our group project. It was pretty fun because I didn’t know how to photoshop before but learned it from a group project, and everyone in my group really liked my work. Another thing I learned is how to plan to achieve goals in college. In FRO, we talked about solutions for problems we face in college such as being academically successful at Baruch, we need to manage our time efficiently and meet the requirements of different courses. Additionally, the Baruch Voices today was so hilarious, and that FMAC Method( FIND, MEET, ATTRACT, CLOSE) still hangs in my head. Overall, I enjoy everything at Baruch in the past three months and I think I will love this place as time goes by.

To be honest, the first three months in college is far from what I expected. In my imagination, college should have big campus with lawn and stadium, live in dormitory with close friends and hold some crazy parties. Nothing really exciting happened in my college life, I take same train everyday, attend classes following the schedule, go to study room with my friends during two hour gap. The major challenges of college work are the large volume of reading, the short deadline and huge amount of essay assignments. Sometimes I give up the reading part because it is boring and obscure. Sometimes I work on my essay assignments until midnight because I have deep procrastination. I even can not write one word out 12 hours before the deadline.
Besides the academic part, I met some amazing friends. They made my college life more interesting and colorful. We have lunch together, share our food to taste different flavor. We go to Starbucks together when it is “buy one get one free” day. We also go to study room together so that we can help each other on homework and essay assignments. We go to piano room for practicing, even though I can not play piano, it is glad to enjoy their performance. they give me concern, support and happiness, they become an important part in my life. I must say I love you guys and thank you for appearing in my life!!!

My college experience so far in Baruch was good. I met my best friend from high school. Even though we are not in the same fro, we joined some clubs and went to the club activities outside of school together. It was fun.
I also made close friends in fro and we spent most of the time together every day. We also hang out after school, like having dinner together after school on Thursday. They are all nice and funny. I learned more about them during the three months. As the picture shows, I use the library a lot. I think it’s the best part of Baruch. My friends and I go to the library a lot. We usually use the study room so that we can discuss homework or review quizzes together. It’s a good place to sleep too—my friend told me whenever she goes there she must take a nap first then start her work.
I don’t like all my classes but I am interested in sociology because I like the topics we discuss in class. I am not good at writing papers and it always takes me a long time to finish them. I will work on that so I won’t feel stressful when I have a lot of papers in the future..
In conclusion, I had fun in the last three months despite the stressful midterms and I feel positive about the rest of my college life.

The first three months in college fly by. I can’t imagine how fast time can be. After one month or so from September, midterms started. And then as right now, finals are coming soon. College experience so far isn’t the way I have imagined back in high school. It’s like a normal school day and it repeats four times a week. One thing I absolutely hated it is the essay assignment. There is always an essay that will be due soon. After I finish with one essay, there is always a new assignment from other class. I HATE IT, but I have no control, I kind of get use to it by now. Except this, nothing is really special. I go to school in the morning and come home after class like I always do. It’s nothing like the college life on TV show. No crazy parties, no hang out in the bar, no dramatic romance, no vampire coming from nowhere and bite you…
Although college itself is not a fun thing to me, I meet some friends that make my day special. We always have lunch together, talk together, and even play the same game and watch the same show. I am glad to have these amazing friends with me and we will be together again next semester. Hurray!!! ^v^
