Monologue

Posted by Ting Dong on October 11, 2014

I have been wrapped by the quicksand and wandering around for years. The quicksand does not drown me; it just reminds me that instead of being relaying on it, I have no other choice; otherwise I will be blown away. It declared that it is my root. Therefore, I spend many years of youth, and was wrapped to the east and west senselessly.

Until a week ago, when I faced quicksand, I said, “let the wind take me.”

Quicksand said, “you lose your root, you die immediately.”

I said, “I saved enough water, so I can be alive for a while.”

Quicksand said, “but the wind will keep you in the air endlessly. You will die because of the lack of water.”

I said, ” rain is going to help me.”

Quicksand said, ” The rain only works for you when it drops into the pool. When it is in the air, basically, it is just a decoration.”

I said, “I would fall into the pool.”

Quicksand said, “and you’re drowned.”

I said, “let me try it.”

Quicksand said, “Before you do that, why do not you let me put you on a small sand hill, so you can look down from there; then you can find out how many plants like you depend on me.”

I said, “Why do not you lift me high enough to see the whole plants on the earth? Therefore I can find out where or not those plants have the same lives as mine.”

Quicksand said, “how dare you are! could resist me? I will destroy you!!”

I say, “Before you do that, I will ask the wind to take me.”

So I tried as hard as I could to struggle to leave. Well, actually, it was not that hard to get rid of the quicksand. I left the sand, and when I looked down to my feet…”What the heck?! I have feet, and, originally I was not a plant, I was an animal. These people lied to me for twenty years!” As an animal with legs, I can finally decide my fate. I looked at quicksand, it said, “go away, but do not you tell the other plants that in fact they are animals.”

Always ask yourself, what if you are right and they are wrong? Do not go with the flow. Show you individuality and try not to be blend in.

It is a story I have read long time ago.

I am from Georgia. I am Korean, but when I moved from Korea to US, I took of the flight at Atlanta. I graduated high school from there and came to NY on August 5th for Baruch College. I still have good memory at there. My video starts with a night sight of New York City because I am belongs to here now. The second picture is me and my best friend from my high school. Her name is Yessica. She and I spend most of the time at school together. We also hung out several times; we went to Shabu-shabu restaurant. It was her first time trying Shabu-shabu. I helped her to dip beef in the hot water and take it off because she doesn’t know how to use chopsticks, so it was a struggle to have this food. She loved it, and I was so happy with it. Then there is a picture of six girls who are wearing black and white. They are my closest girls in Georgia. We tried to wear similar cloths so we can be twins. They also came to my graduation with flowers. I was almost cried because of their sweethearts. One of my friend took my picture and posted it on my facebook wall with a comment, “Don’t be sad, Young. You graduated! Congratulations!” I just loved it. Then there is a picture with my pretty Chinese girls. They are my first friend in this college. We take all same classes, hang out, study together. I am so glad that I am a friend of them. The picture with campfire is from when I went to Pennsylvania as a church mission trip. It was a great time to get to know each other and realize that I am a blessed girl. The last picture is my favorite picture ever I found out on the internet. It is hilarious. I send that picture to my family and friends. I love to share my favorites with my people.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Xiaolong’s blog!

In order to let you guys know more about me, I will use a series of photo slides to introduce myself.

This is my history from my young period to nowadays. Because I am drawn into suits, I decide to devote myself into business.

I love sports, especially basketball. I ever joined the basketball

team when I studied in my high school in China.

I like adventures and extreme sports. I always enjoy thrilling and exciting games in the amusement park.

I like children. Thus, I always find chances to get along with them, such as volunteer.

It’s about two years since I came to America.

It was the last day when I lived in China. I have 11 friends, like brothers. We promised to come together in the near future.

After I arrived in the USA, the subway is the first public transport which I took.

Eventually, I met my parents in 2013. Then, we spent the first Christmas together.

It’s my favourite gift which I received at my birthday after I came to America.

I ever spent the wonderful time with my most important person in the Brooklyn Bridge.

~~    Then, I graduated from Fort Hamilton High School and came to Baruch college.

Cease to struggle and you cease to live.

My history still continues……..

Who am I?

Hello everyone My name is HIMCHAN YUN. I was born in Korea in 1994 and I immigrated to America with my parents and a younger sister in 2010. The first picture shows my childhood in Korea. There are four people in that picture. The one on the right side is my sister and two other girls are my cousins who were grown up together with me and my sister. I do not have many memories about my childhood but I certainly remember that I and my sister were always with our cousins. We are still close even though they live in Korea. One thing I regret now is that I did not take a lot of picture during my elementary school and middle school. So, the second picture is from my high school. Those are my best Korean friends who met in America. I spent all my four years in America with them. The third picture is when I participated international festival. This was my first time trying to dance, to perform in front of many people, and to challenge myself. It was really nice experience I never had before since I did not like to stand in front of people. Following pictures are from my senior years. I think that my senior year was the best year in my high school. I and my friends took a senior photo in the playground of Francis Lewis High School which was my high school. I went to senior awards and got a small prize. The next picture was when I was going to graduation with my sister and her friend. I took last two pictures when I went to Minnesota for Native American mission trip. The second to the last is when I was face-painting on a Native American girl. I was drawing a rainbow on her forehead and I thought I did pretty well. This picture shows that I am a Christian. As I make this slide shows, I realized I did not have enough photos and I missed a lot of my memories. Therefore, I desperately want to take more pictures from now on in Baruch college and to make great memories here with you guys. Thank you guys for watching.

Time of Life

Posted by Zijie Liu on

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/FRO+14/101277239

Hi! My name is Zijie Liu. I chose to make a playlist. Music can represent my history as well as time of my life. I enjoy listening to music. I also enjoy listen to different types of music. I always put on my songs in the morning.  Sometimes I even listen to them before I sleep. Music is like fused into my life.

I chose the first two songs because both of the songs are graduation songs from junior high school. The lyrics in the song relates to life and it often inspires me.

The next five songs I chose are some of the songs that I  often listen to  before and I still listen to them. I listen to some of these songs for relaxation. I listen to some of these songs when doing my work or studies.

The last three songs remind me of my childhood. I get excited when I listen to these songs as a child as well as now.

Hope you enjoy my songs!

Musics that represent me

Musics: Passion by Yongzhao Liang on Grooveshark

Hi, my name is Yongzhao Liang, you can call me David. The reason for me to choose these musics because they all provide me a feeling of passion when I hearing them. Like these musics, I am a passionate person. I enjoy listening to these musics because these musics are like torches that can ignite the fire in my heart. They make me forget about all the stresses and unhappiness. Although, I love these musics, I usually don’t listen to musics when I am on the streets. As we all know, New York is not a quiet city. The streets are always full with people’s conversation and cars’ noise. As a result, these noises will often disturb the musics that I listen, so I am only listening musics at home. At the end, I hope you will understand more about me through these musics.

Playlist that represents me.

Posted by c.wang2 on

My name is Allen Wang (Chung-Tseng) I chose to make a playlist to represent myself because music plays a major role in my life. I listen to music 24/7 seven days a week, I have different playlists for different moods. My favorite genre of music is melodic/phat progressive house, prime examples would be Alesso, Porter Robinson, Steve Angello, Seb Ingrosso, and etc. The first song on the playlist is Payback and it is the song of the 2014 summer for my friends and I. My friends and I worships Steve Angello as a god and Size records as a religion. Every time I play this song it reminds me of all the wild memories I had with my friends over the summer. We went to many raves and clubs ad every time this song come up we would go wild. The second song on the playlist is Lionhearted (Arty remix) and it reminds me of my grandma that passed away. When I was around 5 years old my grandma would always play a song, that has a similar melody as Lionhearted, to out my brother and I to sleep. The third song I chose is Queef by Deorro and JOel Fletcher, I chose this song because it is a classic Melbourne shuffle song that my friends I would dance to all the time. The third song is X by Chris Brown and Diplo, I chose this song because it is a collaboration between two of my favorite artists. Alesso is one of my favorite artists of all time, I’ve listen to his music before he blew up into what he is right now. Heroes is one of his newest songs in his new album World, and it is just the type of melodic progressive house that I was expecting form him. The next song is Blame by Calvin Harris, this song represents me because this is my mom’s favorite song. She would play this song when ever she is in the car and sort of dance to it when she drives. Whenever I hear this song in the club, radio, or rave it would remind me of her. Pompeii Audien remix was the song that got me and ex-girlfriend back together. I went to a concert with my ex-girlfriend and her friends, and when this song came up we got back together. We broke up again after three days so she’s ex again but this song still reminds me of her. The next song is Am I Wong by Nico & Vinz, this song reminds me of my aunt that got a divorce. Don’t You Worry Child was the first song that I’ve ever raved to with my friends at Swedish HOuse Mafia. So it brings back alot of high school memories for me. Next song is All of Me Tiesto Remix, this song is one of my favorite Tiesto songs. This song reminds me of my crazy ex that would always do too much. These songs reminds of many different important people in my life.
