Music is life
Posted by Josh Ho on September 29, 2014Music is my life. I listen to it everywhere I go. I listen to it while I shower, while I cook, while I wash dishes, while I am on dates. Literally anywhere I go I listen to music. Music is the spice of life to me, it enthralls me and I do not know what I would do without it. So here is my list of songs that I think represents how I think or I just really enjoy.
1) ADHD – Kendrick Lamar
I love this song because this is one of the few songs that I can rap out. It is very fluent and it does describe our generation. Also it’s one of the songs that I shared with my ex-gf so it does have personal connection.
2) Fuck your Ethnicity – Kendrick Lamar
This song connects to me on a racial level. In the song Lamar says that it doesn’t matter what race you are, music is for everything. This really touches me because hip-hop/rap is dominated by the African American group and people just assume it’s “Black” people music yet I still love hiphop/rap.
3) Thinkin’ About You – Frank Ocean
This song is amazing, the vocals of Frank Ocean is just superb. But the reason I love this song is because of it’s connection to my ex-gf. This was our song.
4) Just my imagination – The Temptation
My dad loves jazz / smooth jazz and this song captures my childhood when I listened to music with him.
5) Monster – Kanye West
This song is one of my current favorite song because of the rap skills shown in the song and the beat.
I really do love rap/hiphop song, in fact a good 95% of my songs are all rap or hiphop. That doesn’t mean I don’t like other genres, in fact classical is my favorite but it does get dull after a while. Plus classical music isn’t pumping out new songs these days, since you know, they’re classical.
The rest of the playlist of mine doesn’t really have a story behind them, instead I just enjoy them.
6) Juicy – Biggie Smalls
7) 3005 – Childish Gambino
8) Hold on, We’re going home – Drake
9) Power – Kanye West
10) Empire State of Mind – Jay Z
