Music is life

Posted by Josh Ho on September 29, 2014

Music is my life. I listen to it everywhere I go. I listen to it while I shower, while I cook, while I wash dishes, while I am on dates. Literally anywhere I go I listen to music. Music is the spice of life to me, it enthralls me and I do not know what I would do without it. So here is my list of songs that I think represents how I think or I just really enjoy.

1) ADHD – Kendrick Lamar
I love this song because this is one of the few songs that I can rap out. It is very fluent and it does describe our generation. Also it’s one of the songs that I shared with my ex-gf so it does have personal connection.

2) Fuck your Ethnicity – Kendrick Lamar
This song connects to me on a racial level. In the song Lamar says that it doesn’t matter what race you are, music is for everything. This really touches me because hip-hop/rap is dominated by the African American group and people just assume it’s “Black” people music yet I still love hiphop/rap.

3) Thinkin’ About You – Frank Ocean
This song is amazing, the vocals of Frank Ocean is just superb. But the reason I love this song is because of it’s connection to my ex-gf. This was our song.

4) Just my imagination – The Temptation
My dad loves jazz / smooth jazz and this song captures my childhood when I listened to music with him.

5) Monster – Kanye West
This song is one of my current favorite song because of the rap skills shown in the song and the beat.

I really do love rap/hiphop song, in fact a good 95% of my songs are all rap or hiphop. That doesn’t mean I don’t like other genres, in fact classical is my favorite but it does get dull after a while. Plus classical music isn’t pumping out new songs these days, since you know, they’re classical.
The rest of the playlist of mine doesn’t really have a story behind them, instead I just enjoy them.

6) Juicy – Biggie Smalls
7) 3005 – Childish Gambino

8) Hold on, We’re going home – Drake
9) Power – Kanye West

10) Empire State of Mind – Jay Z

LIFE ALBUM

Posted by Ziyun Liang on September 28, 2014

Hello, this is Ziyun, welcome to my blog. I am from No.3 high school in Guangzhou, China, and Fort Hamilton High

School in Brooklyn, America. When I was doing this, picking and gathering photos from my album, lots of memories

rushed into my head. These photos reminded me of friends who I had not seen for a long time, interesting experience

I had and many touching moments I cherished.

For the first picture, I was having my “ student military training” when I was at junior high school. It was not on

campus,we could go home after the eight-hour training, which included salute, footwork and formation training.

For the second one, I was having my”student military training” when I was a high school sophomore. It was an arduous

but unforgettable experience for me because I tried many thing I had not done before. We went to the rural area and

stayed there for six days. We did farm work, carried budgets of water, slept in a dormitory that was facing a huge graveyard,

and I took showers with all the girls in my class. Phones were banned, and we were away from the technology,

but it was really fun.   Looking at this picture , I couldn’t even recognize myself.

The Passionate One

Posted by Jeff Ren on September 27, 2014

Hi! I’m LinWei Ren, please call me Jeff. As you listen to the songs that I picked, you’ll notice all the songs have a powerful crescendo; starting from plain and simple to intense and complex. Just like the float of the songs, this is who I am or who I want to become; a simple person to start but raises to become the strong and passionate person. I enjoy listen to songs very much, I listen to songs while I am walking home, I listen to songs while I am taking the bus, I listen to songs while I am bored. All the different themes and tones of music makes me feel passionate about life, it relax me when I encounter problems and gives me strength to deal with the problems. When I put on my earphone and listens to music, the world seems different; it not as boring or dry as it used to be, I can said music really makes my world wonderful and more lively. While been a passionate person, I am also a logical person. When I encounter problems or saw someone else in trouble, I would view different aspect of the problem and give my honest opinion; I often gives my friends my honest advice on the problem he or she had. I would not reject other people’s opinion over a topic because I believe everyone is right in it’s interpretation, having to reject other’s opinion is disrespectful as I view it. That is about it, I am always there and enjoy listen to people’s problem and would give my honest opinion, this is who I am.

My History

Posted by yinchun pan on September 26, 2014

Here is the link for the slides I have created(you do not need to sign in!):   http://slide.ly/view/ac898defb7fb8aa907df9ba67208151a

Hello friends, welcome to my blog! My name is Yinchun Pan, you can call me Peter. I have listed some pictures in chronological order to represent me. It was hard to find these pictures because I not a guy who always walks around with his camera. A few of them were taken in Texas, and rest of them were taken in New York. The first picture was taken when I first arrived in United States, some of you might recognize the scene is from one of the harbor in NYC. My Dad and I was sitting together after ten years of separation, we both actually felt in silent, but our smiles expressed everything we wanted to say. The second picture was taken in Texas during my first winter in this country, also it was my first time seen the snows. I captured the moment when I stood in the backyard. The third one is a picture of my mentor’s family, she taught me English and helped my family  to overcome the harsh time that we once encountered. She sent this picture to me while she was having vacations with her family in Yellow Stone. The next picture was taken with my mentor’s husband and her son when I was still in Texas. Then, the next two pictures show the place I often visit in New York City during past two years. The one with whale is inside of the Natural History Museum, and another one is outside of Metropolitan Museum. They are actually google images because I recently rest my old computer, all the pictures I have saved were deleted…sad…After that is a picture with my hand and giant lobster head, this was taken when I was working in the Japanese Restaurant. The next one was taken with my friends on the last day of high school. These are the people I hang out the most with in high school, good luck to them in college! Next comes one of my best friends and I taken pictures after the graduation ceremony, we have a lot in common since his experiences are very similar to mine. Finally the last picture, with the same person from previous one. This was taken after the BBQ party at Gracie Mansion with our NYC mayor Bill de Blasio in July.

Photo project

I list these pictures to represent me. The first picture is me, so everyone knows about my look.
The second and third are my high school, it is a beautiful school in a quite countryside town. I
think it is really different experience to live in city. Next is my college, Baruch. Even though
it is a small college and may be different from other rural colleges, I still like the feel of
living in the city. I also list my favourite sports, which are riding bikes and fitness. I’m not
a sports fan, I mean I don’t really like play ball games because I’m bad at those ball games.
However, I do love watch ball games with my friends. Then I list my favourite subjects, they are
math and economic. I would say I used to love math really much, but after I went to AP cal and
learned AP economic, I changed my mind. Now I’m more interested in economic.I played Dota2 and
LOL a lot, actually Dota more than LOL, I’m a gamer and I love playing games with my friends.

Representing Me!

Posted by Sooyoung Jeon on September 17, 2014

First picture is representing my relationship with my mom. As all mothers do, my mom loves and cares me a lot. She really try to hear what i am thinking and wanting. I took this picture right after graduation. I  thank to my mom because she has helped a lot for academic and personal issues.

During high school, I took design class for three years from sophomore to senior year with. In my junior year, there was an assignment of self portrait. I felt that JROTC was big part of my high school years. So I drew myself in JROTC uniform. I love drawing and painting.

When I was kindergarten and elementary school student, there was only my sister can take care of me in the morning. She is two years older than me so when i was young, she was young, too. I thank to my sister so much. It causes that the relationship between my sister and I is closer than any other relationship of siblings.

This picture is my high school graduation book photo. I have many memory in this high school for four years. I studied, exercised, participated on team and had friends.

Like most of senior student of high school, I make decision about major of college. My original dreamed job was on field of medical. I took this picture during AP Biology laboratory of dissection.

This is the picture I took in JROTC class in senior year. Uniform was symbol of my effort on this program. And I meet many friend through this program. I am quiet person who cannot get closer with people easily. This program helps me to improve and make friends.

For senior trip, I went Six flag in New Jersey. I enjoyed with my closest friend. I had so much fun time at that time. Returning to bus to go home, my friends and I took this picture because we wanted not to leave the amusement park.

As I said before, I was in JROTC program. Senior students have to take care a class of lower grade students. I took charge a freshman class. I go there and help JROTC teacher, take attendance, inspect their uniform and knowledge, or be demonstrator of PT exercise. This picture was taken on last day of school. I was not here because I had freshman orientation in Baruch College. I really miss them.

One of my hobby is baking or cooking. This is a picture of choux a la crème that I baked before.

This is my living room. I spent most of time during summer vacation. I spend time with my family here.

Hello!

My name is Jincheng Tang. I want to use the slides to better introduce myself. One of my biggest proud is that I will seize every chance to go abroad, experiencing another culture. The first picture was taken when I was an exchange student in Daegu, South Korea at six grade. This was the first time for me to go abroad. Also, I made some Korean friends.

When I was in high school, I also earned the chance to be an exchange student to Birmingham, UK. There, I met the Preeces. They were all very nice to me. We still keep in contact.

psb The most impressive thing to me was that when Mr. Preece knew that  Manchester United is my favourite scoccer club, he drove me all the way to Manchester. There is the picture when I was in Old Trafford, the home stadium of Manchester United with Alex Preece.

Besides, I also like travelling. I have been to Switzerland, France( When it was exactly the French Open) Italy and Germany.
