Ascend is a professional organization with over 200 members. They help people refine their resumes, interviewing skills, networking skills, and much more. This was my very first meeting at this club so I had no idea what to expect. At this meeting, I got an idea of what they do. At this meeting, we were trying to think of ideas that will help us raise money. There were many great ideas like a Movie Night, a Winter Ball, and a game where people play to win prizes. I feel like doing these types of things are very good for people who want to major in marketing because you need to find ways to sell your idea. I never thought about majoring in marketing but now it looks like a possibility because it is really fun. You get to be creative and get the feeling of having done something useful in your project.

MET Trip
I’ve never been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, much less any museum focused on art. Once I arrived, there were already so many forms of art. White marble stairs spanning the length of the entire building, huge columns inspired from the Greeks, and two fountains painted with a glossy black was really a sight to see for me. Inside, I met with my art history professor and my classmates. Once more of my classmates arrived, our professor led us to the Egyptian section. I saw many artifacts like sarcophaguss’, spiritual statues of dogs standing like a human with a spear in one hand, and pottery. It’s amazing how they could have made these artifacts with just their hands and primitive tools. We then we to another part of the museum which focused on painting from Europe. Every room had a different theme like romance, scenery, death, et cetera. Our professor encouraged us to take pictures of artworks we liked; which I did. Overall, I wish I could have explored more of the museum but I had to go because I had something else to do. This trip exposed me to something new and I believe in widening one’s horizons.
Delta Sigma Pi GIM
I was at Delta Sigma Pi’s general interest meeting. When I went to their stand that day I saw students in professional business suits. I was in awe and knew this is the real deal. I was greeted by a man named Astor at the stand. He told me to go into the room 3 – 120 for the meeting. When I entered the room I saw many students and the vibe the fraternity members created was amazing. One of their values is brotherhood and I couldn’t agree more! When the room became more filled up; the DSP members started their presentation. They opened up with a speech about their obligation to help members make connections and tried to impress us by saying how many of their alumni are in top firms. I knew it was true because many of my cousins were in DSP and they turned out all right. The rest of their presentation was were just about expectations and our job as members—if we were able to become one. The presentation was really quick as it was just for students interested and for the rest of the meeting we were all just talking to each other. Overall, the meeting was really helpful in giving me more information about what this fraternity has to offer. I also learned that Delta Sigma Pi is a greek-lettered name!
