Baruch career blog

For my career workshop section, I didn’t have time to go to an event because I had classes or work during those events, so I choose to peer edit my resume.   I have not received a constructive review or edit of my resume, therefore, I decided to get help with my resume.  I got help from John and he helped review my resume;  he pointed out several items that should be clarified and added.  I added several new information, for example, adding Baruch to my “education” section.   I also got in touch with other people and they checked my resume.  Also, I got their resume, and I looked into other information that could be useful or would be constructive.   In the near future, when I have the chance to attend a STARR event or any career event, I will try to re-evaluate my resume and its context, and have another career event member edit it.

FRO museum

i went to the metropolitan museum of art for Art and visited the Egyptian and Greek section. this wasn’t the first time so not much emotional impact, but was an interesting trip.  we focused on learning Egyptian temples, coffins, and stone statues.  the temples and statues were large and had overwhelming grandiose power.  The Greek section had stone statues but with more exaggerated detail.   later, we visited the western art section.  we saw art that changes styles and emphasis depending on the time period and artist. there were many forms of art ranging from podiatrist to landscape and the emphasis changed from religious and stylistic to realism.  the whole experience was fun because I was able to view different culture and form of art.  Later, if I have time, I might visit the metropolitan museum of art again to get the full experience rather than a rushed tour for class

I attended the Ascend General Interest meeting on the 11th floor in the main building.  The club/group/organization helps other members to connect with people in other fields and professionals in business’s.  When, I went into the classroom, one of the members called Richard helped me understand the general purpose of the organization and the activities done by it.  Richard was very nice and explained how they connect you with corporations and sponsors.  Also it was nice to know that they will help out with resumes, interviews, and internships. The people there were very nice and overall had a great experience, they explained the virtue and the importance of the club and their explanation was on point.  I learned that the club consist  also they answered my questions very thoroughly .  My impression of the club is very good, the club seemed organized and the staff was very helpful in my quest of understanding the club and activities.  the organization have 4 sections(?), and each specializes in their respective fields.  They told me to check their Facebook and it also had additional information that helped me understand their club better.  By the end of the meeting the whole group took a group photo and I thought the environment created was welcoming and was accepting. I’m wondering if i should join but they’re meeting on Thursday and i don’t have classes so I think I’ll pass.  However, I am wondering if they could help me at some time later in the future when I need help.
