The career fair was at the beginning of the school year and although most of the firms only hire sophomores and up, it was still really beneficial for freshmans to go. I was particularly interested in getting more information from the big 4 because accounting is a field that I’m interested in. Honestly, it was a very fun experience because we all got to dress up and look professional, perhaps act “professional”. As a freshman, I can see why going to these sort of events can be intimidating especially since we just started school not that long ago. However, I think the feedbacks you get from these recruiters will really help your confidence level and gain more experiences in the future. Many of the firms were very flexible knowing we were full time students. They pointed out that it is okay for us not to have a set schedule because we were only freshmans. I’m really glad that I went even though I was really nervous about meeting the recruiters.

The MET
The Met
Fro 1000 DFB
Going to an art museum was never my forte. If it wasn’t required to go by the teacher, I would’ve never went. Going there as a class of 40 plus people was not a smart idea. Most of the time, we had no idea what the teacher was talking back. In the end, we all decided to just wander around the museum by ourselves and stop to take photos of whatever art pieces caught our attention. Surprisingly, there were a few paintings that intrigued me such as The View of Toledo by El Greco. For some reason, it’s dark and mysteriousness caught my attention. In some ways it reminded me of The Starry Night. After the museum, a group of us actually waited for out Pre Cal teacher by the fountain. We had a math test the following week and she came to help us out with the study guide.
I believe the art history teacher is going to make us go to a few more art museums throughout the semester but, I’m sure most of us will go again. It was quite fun for all of us to hang out and chill outside of a school environment and we also talked to the professor more. It’s always nice to see when a professor is so passionate and intrigued about what they are teaching. I was really amazed honestly because the professor basically knew most of the paintings hanging in the museum. Overall, the MET wasn’t as boring as I thought. I’ve been there a few times before and it has some really nice places for pictures.
Ascend General Interest Meeting
Today, 9/7/17, I attended the Ascend General Interest Meeting and it was a very memorable experience. So much food and refreshments were provided that there was so many left over. Their presentation was very intriguing and informative. Ascend is an organization that can help us network and connect to many professionals including big corporate sponsors. I was surprised by how many students attended the meeting today yet, I didn’t for one second feel left out or overwhelmed. All the members of the club were very welcoming and the “networking” session went surprisingly well. I got the chance to talk to all the members in the club including, many others in the room. It was like a practice test for when we really have to network with other professionals one day. I feel like I will be able to gain a lot by joining this club. Not only will they help me improve my interview and communicative skills, but they can also help build my resume. I was never a person to join any clubs but after today, I think I just might join one!
