Vark Survey
After taking the VARK test, I got the a score about they way I learn. My score was 1 for visual, 7 for aural, 1 for read/writing, and 8 for kinesthetic. This was a helpful survey because it helped me find out that I was a more aural and kinesthetic person. This survey was good, but not the most accurate survey. They could have added more questions to the survey and more in-depth answers to find a more accurate image if the person taking the survey. I honestly expected to be more of a visual person than a aural. Kinesthetic was a learning way that I expected. Through our my life learning visually and kinesthetically were my biggest strengths. I did good in science courses and math courses but I lacked in my english. This survey is definitely something that everyone should try out. Regardless of its inaccuracy, you can still find out a little more about yourself.
After getting your result, VARK provides strategies to help with your learning preferences. Since I was more of an aural person, I took a looked at the strategies they provided. VARK gave tips such as bringing a tape recorder and talking to a lot of people may help my learning experience. This is very helpful to many students who are struggling in courses where they feel stuck. This will give them strategies to learn better in the class and how they can achieve better grades using these methods. One of the downsides however was that they have some tips that some professors do not allow and do not have time to waste for. One of my tips was to bring a tape recorder but some professors have policies against that. For kinesthetic, one of the tips VARK gave was to go on class trips. In college not a lot of professors hold class trips especially for core classes. VARK did provide many good tips that can help you choose classes and choose the right teacher for you. For kinesthetic one of the tips was to have a teacher that loves to use real life experiences. This is very true because real life experiences help people understand that the subject is relevant.
