On Tuesday, I visited the famous Museum of Natural History. It has been nearly a decade since I last visited the museum and there was a lot of new things to see. When I first went as a third grader, I didn’t get to see any of the dinosaur fossils and dinosaurs were my obsession back then. When I visited, now as a college student, I was surprised to see that the dinosaur fossils are right at the entrance. The Museum of Natural History is also home to the Titanosaur exhibition. The exhibition features a cast of 122 foot dinosaur that was discovered in 2015. The exhibition will be available from January 2016-January 2020. The dinosaur is a new species discovered in the deserts of Patagonia, Argentina. I also visited other various exhibit halls such as the Mammal Halls. The Akeley Hall of African Mammals showcases mammals native to Africa such as lions, rhinos, and elephants. The hall has an exhibit featuring a family of elephants. I recalled seeing this exhibit as a third grader and I was glad to see the museum still had the exhibit. Another place I had to visit was the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. I was greeted the same way as I was greeted ten years ago, with a big whale in front of me. The giant blue whale has become one of the museum’s iconic treasures. Blue whales are the largest animals alive today and are pretty fast for their size. They weigh about 100 tons and are one of the loudest mammals. However, the blue whale has been hunted to near extinction and the museum has the replica as a reminder to protect the environment. My visit to the Museum of Natural History was truly an amazing experience and brought some nostalgia. This is a place every New Yorker should visit.

Career: STARR Career Development Center
To begin, I got an email from American Eagle last week. They went over my application and called me in for an interview. I had to bring my resume with me to the interview. However, my resume was very outdated and lacked professionalism. I needed assistance from someone who knew how to write a successful resume. My search ended quickly as I recalled that Baruch has the STARR Career Development Center right on campus. After revamping my resume on my own, I decided to set up an appointment online. The website was very simple to use and I managed to find the perfect time for an appointment. I met with Parmeet Manchandani, a counselor at the center, the next Monday. Parmeet helped me understand the very basic flaws in my resume. It came to knowledge that a good resume should be no more than one page. To add on, I was missing a cover page. I was very lucky to have a counselor who is very dedicated to helping clients. Although the counseling session was supposed to be thirty minutes long, the counselor put some extra time into helping me and making my resume look good. The visit helped me pick up many different skills when it comes to resume building. I learned how to phrase words in different ways. I understood by phrasing the words in a certain way helped make you look more intelligent. It also helps whoever reading your essay by simplifying things such as your past work experience. Speaking of past work experience, I never had much retail experience. Therefore, I was taught how to use the accolades, skills, and community service contributions to help strengthen my resume. Past experience as simple as freelance tutoring were worded in a way to give it great significance. When I left the Career Center that day, I felt very confident in my resume. After the interview, I think my resume played a huge part of me being called in for a second interview.
Student Life: Muslim Student Association
On September 9, 2017, I visited the Baruch College Muslim Student Association (MSA). I was invited by my close friend Tanzid. Upon entering the room, I felt very welcome by many of the Muslim brothers who were there to either pray, study, or simply pass time. We attended a meeting that discussed the events being held on campus. The MSA holds weekly Quran classes, group prayers, and a lot more programs.
This group connects the Muslims of Baruch regardless of gender and age. People of other religions are even welcome to enjoy the tranquil environment. During my visit, I noticed many people entering the MSA room to meditate in the quiet, calm area. I also made many new friends and saw many old faces. This is surely one place I will definitely visit a lot.
