On November 1st, I attended the NABA Mentorship kick-off event. This event introduced the NABA mentorship program, as selected mentors and mentees would have a chance to network and learn more about the program. The kick-off event also laid out the foundation of what is expected from the mentors and mentees year long, and how we should work together to create goals and plans towards attaining an internship for the summer. It was a great experience to meet all the various professionals at the event. This event also gave mentees an opportunity to choose their prospective mentors for the year long program. There were a lot of mentors to choose from, all from a plethora of different backgrounds and fields. Many of the mentors were recent Baruch graduates, so they understand what is required to get a job in todays world. As of yet, I don’t know what I want to major in, but I’m sure this mentorship program will help me with that decision. I’ll also be able to receive a guide on how to attain internships and valuable work experience. Hopefully the relationships I make in this program will be life long, and I know I’ll receive a lot of insight on what it takes to accomplishing my career goals.

Academic Blog Post
On October 13th, I attended the Metropolitan Museum with my classmates for extra credit in our history class. It was a interesting experience, as I haven’t been to a museum since 8th grade. When I arrived at the museum, I began to remember why I hated going to museums in the first place. There were too many people. I hate crowded places, and tend to get anxious. We visited the Egypt gallery, where our History professor was our tour guide. The main reason why I attended the museum visit was to not write an essay, and receive extra credit for my attendance. I feel like that extra credit will really come in clutch at the end of the semester. Turns out, I had to write an essay anyway, but I still received extra credit for my attendance. I was taking pictures of the Egypt exhibit for my future essay. Little did I know, we couldn’t even use Egypt as an essay topic. I took all those beautiful pictures for nothing. After the Egypt exhibit, we went to the China exhibit as well as Mesopotamia. Two essays are required on two different exhibits. I’m not sure if I could write about China and Mesopotamia, but I feel like I’ll need to visit a different museum to fulfill one of the essay requirements. I think we may have one more class museum trip later on in the semester. The museum visit was fun, and it was pretty informative as well. I truly wish it wasn’t on a Friday though since I have no classes on that day. We should’ve went to the Museum as a class on a Wednesday, the day we do have history. Going to a museum is one of those things I wouldn’t really do on my own time.
Alpha Kappa Psi Rush
I’ve been looking to join a club and get more involved in the school. I’ve been asking my friends what clubs to join. I was told I should go to this fraternity interest meeting. On September 6th, I attended the general interest meeting for the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi with a group of my friends. I had no idea what this meeting would entail. I didn’t plan on staying long, as I was trying to rush home and finish up some homework. I was told by my friends the meeting would last about 2 hours, but it actually lasted around 4. I already had assumptions on what fraternity’s were before I attended the meeting. I thought fraternities were all about partying and having fun. However, after the meeting, everything changed. I realized that fraternities are much more to just having fun. They push each other to become the best versions of theirselves, as well as encourage each other. During the meeting, I got to meet a few of the alumni as well as current members of the fraternity. There was a panel set up for the four alumni, who discussed how the fraternity helped them succeed in life. There was a total of four speakers, and they opened up for a Q&A near the end of the panel. Two of the four speakers were accounting majors, and are currently employed by big four companies. The speakers gave real honest answers, which I truly appreciated. Some of the speakers didn’t have the best g.p.a nor best resumes, but they explained to us how they were able finesse a internship. They also explained how the fraternity helped them in their jobs, and helped them maintain relationships as well as meet new people. I reconnected with a girl named Karen, who happened to be the manager of the basketball team in Brooklyn Technical High School when I was on the team my freshman year. I never knew she went to Baruch, so it was surprising to see her. Dumplings were given out during the meeting, which were delicious. It was my first time having dumplings, and it looked a bit weird to me. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours, but it was a great experience. I got to network and meet a lot of great people. The fraternity really feels like a family, as everyone seems like they are close-knit. The relationships made in fraternity’s seems like they would last for a lifetime. I don’t know if I’ll continue with the fraternity this year, but I’m definitely going to consider it in the future. Fraternity’s seem like they take a lot of commitment, and I don’t want to get myself into something I may not be ready for yet. I might join a club next semester, but this semester I plan to get more situated into the school, and get my schedule more adjusted. I love playing basketball in Baruch’s gym, so I plan on continuing to do so until the end of this semester.
