The time will soon come, where winter as we know
does not exist. The article from the New York Times entitled “By 2047, Coldest
Years May Be Warmer Than Hottest in Past, Scientists Say,” by Justin Gillis
brings to mind the dangers that the weather can cause in the future. Dr. Mora
and his graduate students’ analysis of forecasts around the world have allowed
them to conclude that we can expect much warmer weather in the very near future.
Based on their research, they were able to predict that by 2047 the coldest day
of the year will be warmer than any temperature recorded 1860 to 2005. We
notice the change in temperature from year to year but fail to see the
importance of it. We experienced summer like weather in the first week of
October. Many people enjoyed this and the spirit of summer was back for that
week. That is not October weather we are used to but we should start to expect
that more and more. This is something we should take seriously. We can slow
down this warming that’s so apparent by lowering the use of emissions. This
will give us about 20 to 25 years more to prepare for it and find other
solutions to this problem. So remember to do what you can to help lower
emissions now before it’s too late.
