Freshman Seminar – Spring 2015, DTD

Before, coffee was the worst drink above every other drinks out there. But now, it is a primary needed source. I did not drink coffee even until when I was in high school.  I hated the bitterness of the coffee. It was unnecessary for me to drink coffee because there were plenty of different kinds of sodas and juices for me to drink. I did not get why people drank coffee in the morning before going to school or work. However, after the experience of studying in Baruch college for three months, I realized that coffee was one of the required sources. If I were to compare a college student with a car, coffee is like a fuel that you need in order to get your “thinking engine” running. Coffee helps preventing me from falling asleep during lectures and doing homework at a library or at home. Now, I am a coffee lover and I drink coffee every morning. No sugar and sometimes milk.

My name is Sungoo Jung. I was born in South Korea, Seoul on June 4th, 1995. I lived in Cheongju, one of the cities in South Korea. In the year 2004, I immigrated to New York with my family. I remember when I went to the elementary school, it was difficult for me to communicate with my friends because I did not know how to speak and understand English.

I like listening to music. It is one of the sources that I need to live my life. I also love playing instruments and played many different kinds of instruments. Three main instruments I play are acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and, particularly, drums. I play drums during the church worship service in praise team.

I love eating Korean food because I am a… Korean! Bi-bim-bap is my favorite Korean dish. It means mixed rice, where many different types of vegetables and sauces are mixed with white rice with a fried egg. Kimchi is my favorite side dish while eating the bi-bim-bap. I also love to eat Korean BBQ. Now I am hungry.

My favorite video game is League of Legends, where you battle 5 vs. 5 with different kinds of champions. Each champion has different positions, so every champion needs to carry out their roll in order to win the fight. It is really fun to play with my friends.

I love my family. Without them, I will feel really alone and unaided. Friends are also important to me because they listen to my concerns and support me. Family and friends are required to be in my life. I am so thankful for having them.
