On February 10th, 2017, I attended the Federal Reserve Bank tour organized by the Financial and Economic Society Club. It was a knowledgeable experience as we learnt about the history of the bank created by the Congress to stabilize the financial system in 1913.
Inside the bank, there is a museum part where we viewed the trading windows and Italian Renaissance inspired architecture. Shredded bills and a weighing machine were also displayed inside. The most fascinating part of the tour was the Gold Vault. The group was also taken to view real gold bars secured in the vault 80 feet below ground level.
The establishment of the building was spoken about more than the current scenario. Overall, it was a really comprehensive trip. I was glad I was given this opportunity and appreciate Financial and Economic Society Club’s efforts to arrange this!
