As a student in College I am particularly starting to notice some of my strengths and also some of my weaknesses. It’s important that I continue to notice this because it will help me to later on establish and connect these aspects of my life to certain careers that are suitable to me. Some of these strengths include my ability to study and gather notes effectively. While in class I focus more on taking notes that are important to what will help me to understand the topic even further. By taking these effective notes I am then able to also study effectively. From this, another one of my strengths is being able to ask questions when I do not specifically understand what is going on within a particular topic. This idea of being curious is always helpful in the class setting. However, I sort of refrain from answering my own curiosity. For instance, I may have a suggestion as to what I may think may be the answer but I choose not to state it out loud out of fear that it may not be correct. I mean I love to participate in class and engage in the class discussion but I do not like to call out something of irrelevant cohesiveness. Also, some of the areas I think I am strong in but by hearing from others, is that I do not listen all the time to ideas different from my own. People will always say that “Nia wants what Nia wants.” I mean I don’t completely agree with that one hundred percent, but i think it does have some type of truth. So from learning about that of myself, I think that is something I have to work really hard to change, especially because in College and later on in life working in groups is inevitable. Currently though, throughout my classes I work on this weakness by actually paying attention to what others have to say because it does show another side of the spectrum that I probably was not looking into. I am not trying to say that I never listen to groups members is just that I am working on improving my ability to listen even more.
