When people mention about electric vehicles, the first thing comes into our mind is how far an electric vehicle could go and how efficient an electric vehicle could be. We never think electric vehicle can do any other things besides travelling, since vehicles in our mindset is only transportation. However, there is a recent news show that electrical vehicles can provide power to an office building as well.

According to the article from Japan Daily Press, Hofilena mentions that “Nissan has carried out a successful early field test of a system that will allow companies to regulate their electricity bills using the batteries of Nissan Leafs used by their staff to commute to work.” It shows that electric vehicles are multipurpose; it is not only a kind of transportation. In the article, he also mentions that it only needs 6 Nissan Leafs to cut the peak-hour electricity of a building by 2.5 percent. In other words, it could save around $4800 in electricity costs.

I believe that it is a great news to everyone because all of us know that the cost of electricity is a huge portion of our daily expenses and electricity is a necessary need. For a company, if all the employees or employers drive electric vehicles to work, they will be able to enjoy all the benefits from electric vehicles as I have mentioned in my previous posts. They can also be able to save electricity for the office. That is totally a win-win situation for everyone. Furthermore, it is more environmentally friendly, which is the main mission for our generations.

If you have followed my posts, you would know about that all the advantages of driving electric vehicles. And I have also showed the solutions for the tough question about charging electric vehicles while traveling in long distances. There is an article from USA Today found out that, “If all the drivers switched, the country could save 15 billion gallons of gasoline each year, as much as was burned last year in California, the nation’s top motoring state. Also, the reduce gas use would cut greenhouse gas emissions and save $33 billion in gas costs.” It pointed out that electric vehicles could really make a big different to our environment.

For all the advantages and articles that I have mentioned to you on electric vehicles, I believe there is no reason to drive engine cars but not electric vehicles. Therefore, I encourage everyone to drive electric vehicles in order to get more benefits and protect our environment.

If you have follow my posts, you will realize that I only mention electric vehicle in personal use. In the first post, I talked about how fast a Tesla electric vehicle is. It only takes 4.6 seconds from 0-60 mph. In the second post, I talked about electric vehicle save a lot of gas in order to protect our environment and save money. In the last post, I talked about drivers do not need to worry about gas when they go for long distance trips. Electric vehicles seem really great on different aspects. Then you may have a question in mind, “If electric vehicles are much better than gas vehicles, how come people do not use it on public transportation?”

In fact, there are many countries including The United States, are developing the market of electric vehicles. The New York Times mentioned that New York and other 7 states are going to team up for encouraging more charging stations. So that, electric drivers do not need to worry about charging problems. Those local government  are going to purchase some electric vehicle for themselves. In this case, they hope they can encouraging more people to drive electric vehicles. Their action affirmed the advantages of electric vehicles: the safeness, environment friendly and conveniences.

Furthermore, The New York Times pointed out that there is a company already producing electric buses for transit agencies in Los Angeles. Those electric buses can run 155miles on a charge. That is very efficient electric vehicles compare to others. As the government is encouraging more charging stations around the United States, it is going to popularize the market of electric vehicles. In the near future, I believe that  government would change all the public buses around the county to be electric vehicles. At that time, the percentages of electric vehicles in the United States should be same as or even more than the percentage of gas vehicles. In this case, people not even can travel around with cheaper costs. They also protecting our environment in order to give the best to our next generation.

Everything has two sides. As I mention in the last post, although electric vehicles look fantastic on different  dimensions, they also have drawback.Many people believe electric vehicles are much more expensive than the regular ones. Also, people always have a major question in their minds, “How can I charge my electric car if I am traveling a long distance?”

Actually, people have thought about all these questions while inventing electric vehicles. Although it costs more than a regular gas car, it is more environment friendly, so it is better for our health. Also, in a long run, it will save money. According to the article, Are Electric Cars Cheaper to Run? 

“The biggest savings will be in fuel. A gallon of regular gas today costs an average of $2.70, according to theU.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Residential electricity costs on the other hand, only average $.11 per kilowatt hour (again, according to the EIA). Nissan says a full charge of their Nissan Leaf electric car will cost $2.75.”

It only costs $2.75 to get a electric car fully charged and it can run for 100 miles. Regular car can only run for 30 miles with one gallon of gas which cost $2.70. From this, we can draw  the conclusion that electric cars are really much cheaper than gas cars when considering the long term.

For the question about long distance travel, there is a recent news report that can answer the question right away. The article, Drive a Tesla from Tijuana to Vancouver, mentions that people can drive Tesla’s vehicle though the entire Western Coast of the United States nowadays. And they are planning to build charging stations along major highways in the United States by 2015. At that time, people will be able to drive around the entire United States without worrying about the issue of power. Tesla is also planning to improve the capability of swapping the battery. In that case, people can replace a fully charged battery in 90 seconds. So traveling can be cheap, fast and safe with nothing to worry about.

If you have read my previous post, you may have more interest on electric vehicle. However, there was a bad news about Tesla. One of Tesla vehicle got into an accident and it caught on fire. Firefighters claimed that because of the design of the battery, it takes awhile to extinguish the fire. This accident not even makes the stock of Tesla drop a lots, it also question, the safety  of electric vehicle, since Tesla is supposed to be the safest vehicle in the world.

The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk claimed that the fire was not caused by the design of the battery, the vehicle was on fire because a metal object impaled the battery. He believed it was just an abnormal accident which would happen eventually since car accidents happen all the times. He still strongly trusts the technology of battery technology.

Although there was an accident about the electric vehicle, I still want to own a Tesla. I believe any kind of vehicle would have the chance to get into accidents since car accidents happen daily. If this is true, then I believe we should not focus on one abnormal accident of electric vehicle. We should focus on the advantages of an electric vehicle: it is environment friendly and it saves a lot of gas. If everyone owned an electric vehicle, we can provide a  better environment for our next generation and we can save so much natural resources. And we can save a lot of money on gas! I love travel around on weekends and I spend lots of money on gas since the gas prices were pretty high. Therefore, I wish I can own a Tesla, so that I can save more money and travel to more different places.

Since I always talk about the advantages of electric vehicle, people may wonder the disadvantages of it.Therefore, I am going to talk about the disadvantages of electric vehicle in next post and the solutions to solve them. Pollution is one of the serious problems that affect our environment. There are many kinds of pollution around the world. But I believe we should make reducing the air pollution a priority since air pollution not only will  affect the  ecological environment, but it also affects our health a lot. The main cause of air pollution is produced from the exhaust of cars. Our country, The United States, is one of the countries with the highest rates of car flow. The US should find a way to reduce the exhaust from cars. One of the solutions is to promote electrical vehicles instead of traditional fuel cars. Electrical vehicles can let drivers use much less resources to drive longer distances. It will be so much more efficient to drive electrical vehicles than the traditional ones.

People always think electrical is not as powerful as the traditional ones. However, they are wrong since there is a motor car company that popped up a few years ago. It calls Tesla Motors. It is a company that designs, manufactures, and sells electric cars. Compared to the traditional cars, Tesla motors has gained mastery over them. The safeness of Tesla motors is no.1 in the world. Also, Tesla’s vehicles speed up from 0-60 mph is only 4.6 seconds which faster than many other cars. Since electrical vehicles not will reduce the air pollution, and are more efficient and much safer than traditional vehicles, we should try to drive electrical vehicle today.
